About Jill Hammond
This property boasts a fully-functioning, family-owned goat dairy and creamery as well as acres of avocados and tropical fruit. The views are spectacular and you'll find serenity and privacy at this home away from home.
Jill Hammond purchased this House in 1979
Why Jill Hammond chose Cambria
The farm was founded by Jack's grandfather in 1979. He established the orchard and developed the ranch. After graduating college and briefly working in technology, Jack decided to move down to the farm to take over operations and started the creamery operations.
What makes this House unique
This ranch has the perfect climate and access to all that the Central Coast has to offer, but adds a level of privacy and luxury unavailable almost anywhere else. Whether hiking on the ranch, strolling Main Street in the charming town of Cambria, visiting nearby Hearst Castle and San Simeon's Elephant Seals, or sampling the delicious wines of the Central California Coast, you are only a short drive away. We look forward to hosting you!

Exactly what we wanted
We enjoyed everything about Stepladder ranch. From the daily hikes to the beautiful viewpoint at the top of the ridge, to the sunsets from the back patio. I highly recommend escaping the city and getting the nature therapy that the ranch provides.
We had a mini family reunion here with 16 adults and 3 small children. Plenty of space for everyone to hang out with beautiful views.
A perfect getaway
If you want seclusion, breathtaking views, a perfect big house for 14-18, A jacuzzi, a game room, a huge kitchen and everything else you may need already there, except food, this is the place for you. The drive up can get a little bumpy on a dirt road With ruts but the end result is worth it. Bring enough food so you don’t have to leave and even if you do, like we did to go to Hearst Castle, it’s not that bad. Highly recommend. our 4 year old grandson said when he saw it, “it’s a mansion”!!!
Thanksgiving in Cambria
The description of the Big House was completely accurate. It may have even felt bigger than the photos! The massive kitchen and grill were a dream for cooking Thanksgiving dinner. The dog enjoyed the fenced in yard when it wasn’t raining. The rain offered us rainbows! We booked tours ahead of time at Stepladder Ranch and Creamery and Hearst Castle. Everyone in our family agreed that this was the perfect place to spend the holiday weekend together. Thank you!
Our ranch is located 5.2 miles up San Simeon Creek Road off of the Hwy 1, just 15 minutes to the beach (5.2 miles) and 18 minutes to downtown Cambria! It is rural and located off a dirt road behind a locked gate entry.
