The Sky Cabin has been an ongoing project. Originally an old homestead building and became a guest house and added (and continue to add) what ever I can to create an enjoyable, relaxing and memorable stay for ALL guests.
Have owned this property for 45 years. Built our log home from the timber on the property with the help of my wife Joey and our two boys. Not a quieter place anywhere.
My girlfriend and I wanted to do something special and we decided to check out Mt St Helens because she was a geologist. I noted this, asking the owners if they had any suggestions about something special and they took the liberty of putting out flowers and sparkling cider in our cabin for our arrival while also offering us stories and trails we might enjoy. The property is immaculate and just a pleasure to look at. The cabin itself is charming and cozy. The internet wasn't working while we stayed but that really didn't matter given number of things to do (though the cable worked which was nice to turn on and relax too while our bodies ached from the day's activities). It was definitely worth the trip, the location, the facilities, and the hosts.
They have thought of everything here -from fire wood, to a swing, zip line, linens, games and books (in case like me, you forgot yours). This cabin was isolated but yet close to town, clean, cozy, and comfortable. I hate to tell you how much we loved it in fear it will book up and we can't rent it again. One hour after we got there, I asked my husband when we could come back. Terry and Joey were very helpful and friendly. We loved visits from Jonah, the chocolate lab too. You just couldn't ask for more. Thank you.
This was the perfect base camp for exploring the mountain and surrounding area. We loved the proximity to outdoor adventures and the ease of coming back to all the modern amenities. Our daughter (and us too) enjoyed the zip line, we grilled out and roasted smores in the fire pit, and even watched a movie on the large tv! Terry and Joey were the perfect hosts. We will be back.
Touched base with Terry before we arrived to make sure that it was ok for us to arrive late. Terry was very accommodating. When we got there, we met Terry and his dog (dogs name escapes me, but the dog was very friendly).
The cabin was perfect for our excursion. I stayed in the lower level bedroom while my brother used the loft. The cabin is in a very wooded and private area. We hiked to Loowit Falls, so we wanted to leave at 4AM without waking the neighbors, which wasn't a problem.
I would have no problem with
Terry and Joey are excellent hosts and have created a wonderful cabin retreat.
We were unfortunately slightly impacted by a problem with the water heater which we were able to overcome with a little patience and ingenuity. That is the only reason that we feel that it fell short of a five star review.
A serene setting with outdoor recreation features.....fire pit, gas barbecue. Right on the doorstep of Mt. St.Helens and conveniently located within a short drive of Castle Rock for grocery shopping etc.
The water heater problem has now been corrected, it was attributed to a drop in water pressure.
All is well, go stay there, you'll love it.
We had a wonderful time at the Sky Cabin -- it is a lovely, cozy, quiet place equipped with everything we needed for a fantastic weekend. The location was ideal for visiting Mt St Helens & the Apes Caves. The cabin is clean, artfully built, and well-equipped. We very much appreciated Terry & Joey’s efforts to ensure we had the blender we needed to meet the dietary needs of one member of our group and, of course, to retrieve my travel notebook when I left it behind by mistake. Oops – I got distracted after we took one last ride on the zip line – what a riot!
I highly recommend the cabin for couples or families! The owners are lovely people, clearly interested in making sure their guests have a wonderful experience on their beautiful property. Jonah’s welcoming nuzzles and tail-wagging set the tone for a great weekend of hiking & sight-seeing!
