The cabin was perfect for a woodsy escape. Deck is larger than pictures convey and is a wonderful feature to the property. Some reviews mentioned how dark the interior of the cabin was- I personally loved this about the place! That said, my fiancé had a hard time seeing, so maybe bring a headlamp to illuminate the nooks and crannies.
One issue was the smokiness of the wood burning stove- it smoked so much that our eyes were burning and we had to open all the windows to air out the place. Didn't end up firing it back up after that. That said, it didn't take away from our experience.
Check out Fort Ross highway at the north end of Cazadero highway - follow it out to the coast- it's a great weekend day drive. Lunch (or dinner) at River's End in Jenner is the perfect stop before heading back to the DreamCatcher cabin!
This is exactly what my husband and I wanted for an extended weekend get away (and to finally celebrate our 10 year anniversary)! It's a perfect spot if you want to be somewhat secluded, but still close enough to some really cool towns. No cell reception at the cabin, but there is wifi and a land line, which I actually liked (the purpose of our trip was to get away and relax). There are lots of good wineries nearby and some of the most beautiful scenery along the coast (visited Jenner and Bodega Bay). I was pleasantly surprised by how great the food is pretty much everywhere we ate. The cabin is exactly how it looks in the pics and has everything you need. My only criticism, which I really hate to even mention, is that the bedroom loft area does not have a bathroom, so we had to go down the stairs to use the restroom when we were in bed. Very minor inconvenience and I still gave it 5 stars, as the ambiance, scenery and overall feel of this property more than made up for this. I loved waking up to looking out the windows at the beautiful trees!! I'd definitely stay there again!!
The home was surprisingly dark with heavy wood paneling throughout the home. Lighting was inadequate in most areas. It was cozy and quaint but I wouldn't choose this place again based on my personal preferences. Bed was hard and lumpy. Location was beautiful - nestled in the redwoods, not as isolated as the pictures indicate but neighbors were quiet. The hot tub was in a neat location. Close to town.
Loved this cozy little place. The right amount of quirks...and it equals a bunch of charm. Russian River Getaway employees were excellent to work with. I will stay with them again. This cabin is in the perfect location. Nestled in a little cabin neighborhood but so close to the ocean with several wonderful beaches. The coast highway is literally around the corner. Duncan Mills is a joy to spend some time at. So many cute shops in the area. Sonoma/Napa is a very pleasant drive. Photography, beautiful drives, quiet time, shops and a lot of peace amongst the redwoods which surround the cabin. It is hard to go wrong with this beautiful place!
My partner and I spent a long weekend here with our small dog. The property was relatively easy to locate and is generally in good repair. Minor quibbles -- the knives needed sharpening (but we did this quickly/easily ourselves), neighbor's dogs barked when they saw us (which was infrequently), and there's a bookshelf positioned rather awkwardly on a landing in the staircase (which resulted in a few night-time bruises as we navigated to the restroom in the dark) -- but these absolutely did not detract from our stay. Others have noted that the hot water runs out fairly quickly, but we had no problems with back-to-back showers (although we're accustomed to taking quick showers given the drought). Folks with mobility issues may have difficulty navigating the walkway from the parking area to the cottage (it is modestly steep, but should be no problem for most). Bed and sofa were comfortable, and the kitchen was small but well-stocked. Property managers said that we'd need to bring our own sponges for dish-washing (which seemed odd) and that the property had no WiFi, but there was functioning WiFi and a sponge waiting for us. Heating system was adequate (and we had some nights in the high 40s Farenheit) and the cabin had no musty odors like some rental units do. Location served as a great jumping-off point for day-trips to Jenner and Mendocino, and is located near some excellent wineries. Would love to come back.
