A Bordeaux Beauty

Our most friendly host, Alexandre, greeted us upon arrival to his lovely spacious apartment. We stayed for a week and everything was perfect. The apartment is in great place on the river with the trams and the river boardwalk on the doorstep. There are cafes, restaurants, bars and shops within the immediate vicinity which makes this a very convenient property. We totally enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Alexandre as a host.

Good Location, but a little tired.

The property is well located, very close to a tram stop and about an half hour gentle walk to the city centre. The immediate area has evidently been refurbished and benefited from considerable investment during recent years, providing a nice range of quality shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk on the banks of the Garonne. The main reception room (salon) has great proportions as has the kitchen / dining room with magnificent original period features. The salon has 3 pairs of doors, leading on to a balcony overlooking the river. The bedrooms and bathrooms do not work well with 2 toilets (one en-suite), separate from the two shower rooms. One of the two lower floor bedrooms is effectively a study, with a sofa bed; one upper floor bedroom has no external window; and the upper floor WC & shower room have very limited head room. The lower floor bedrooms have access to a rear terrace, which would be great outside dining space in warm weather. The upper two bedrooms are accessed via steep ladder steps, which would not be appropriate for the elderly, or infirm. So generally workable, albeit awkward if three bedrooms are used, but not if all four are required. Generally the apartment internally and the terrace externally are tired and need of a major refurbishment, which would then do justice to the grandeur of the period building. The property benefits from the use of a secure parking space a few minutes walk away for those who will be using a car. The property, very much has the feel that it is lived in, as it is by the owner for much of the time. The "lived in" feel; lack of house-keeping; overall condition; and bedroom / bathroom configuration may be off-putting to some, whereas the location and elegance will more than off-set that with others. An apartment which is spacious and has grand reception rooms in a very good location, but does have significant flaws. Whether it is right for the guests is really a matter of personal priorities, but in any event Bordeaux is a charming and cultured city which is very difficult not to enjoy.

Bel appartement bien situé

Nous avons eu un séjour très agréable dans ce bel appartement situé au 1er étage d'un immeuble en pierre de taille. Grand salon lumineux coté Garonne, grande terrasse sans vis-à-vis à l'arrière. L'arrêt du tramway est au pied de l'immeuble, à 2 stations du centre. Nombreux restaurants et commerces à proximité. Monsieur Challe, le propriétaire, est accueillant et serviable. Merci. Magnifique appartement à deux pas du centre

Très bel appartement, lumineux, spacieux et bien entretenu. Le propriétaire est très arrangeant. Nous avons passé un super weekend ! La terrasse est très agréable, même en automne :)

Superbe appartement

Superbe appartement, très spacieux, idéal pour un week-end entre amis, avec vue sur la Garonne et terrasse très agréable. Très bien situé à proximité du centre ville. Le propriétaire est très sympathique et a été très arrangeant quant à l'heure d'arrivée.

Magnifique appartement sur la Garonne

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans ce superbe appartement. Alexandre a fait le maximum pour que nous nous sentions chez nous. L'appartement est idéalement situé en bordure de fleuve, proche du Tram et des commerces. Il est très calme et nous avons pu profiter de la belle terrasse pour nos repas. Un très bon souvenir.

"L''appartement est idéalement placé pour découvrir Bordeaux. La vue est magnifique sur la Garonne et sur les quais de jour mais de nuit c''est vraiment magique... L''appartement est très spacieux, les chambres "côté cour" sont très calmes. Nous n''avons pas pu profiter de la terrasse et de son jaccuzi à cause de la météo capricieuse et par manque de temps. L''accès à un parking est très appréciable. Nous vous conseillons ce logement pour votre prochain séjour bordelais."

"The apartment was very spacious, particularly the lounge room and kitchen/dining room. The views over the river from the lounge room were beautiful. The apartment''s location is ideal, across the road from the river and boardwalk with plenty of cafes, bars and brand outlets. It also has a tram stop directly in front. There are excellent food markets along the boardwalk on sundays. A good supermarket is a 10 minute walk and a boulangerie, a 5 minute walk. Despite the great location, there were no problems with noise from outside and the apartment also stayed beautifully cool on the very hot days."

"Alexandre is the most charming host - he gave us lots of help ! The apartment is fantastic - classically french with super high ceilings and a great ambience. "Nous sommes restes une semaine dans ce bel appartement, lumineux et silencieux avec vue spendide sur le fleuve. L''appartement est tres bien situe, en face de l''arret du tram. Il y a des magasins proches et le centre ville est a 2 arrets de tram. Pratique! Les escaliers d''acces aux chambres sont asssez raides (type bateau). La cuisine est bien equipee, et grande . Il manque une bouilloire pour le the et des bols (et des tuperwares) mais c''est tout! Bonne adresse pour un sejour comfortable."

"This apartment exceeded ...

"This apartment exceeded all our expectations - it is beautiful, spacious, clean and stylish. It has a great view of the river and is right by a tram stop to get to the city centre in a few minutes. It was quiet and the beds were comfortable! We(family of five)had everything we needed and the owner also thoughtfully provided delicious coffee and the use of his personal computer. There is a supermarket within walking distance, and several cafe/bars very close by. The apartment is located to the north of the city and in a building that must be in a very sought after position. The owner was kind, courteous and charming and did all he could to welcome us and make us feel at home. I would thoroughly recommend this apartment to anyone - first class!"

"L''appartement est superbe, très spacieux et avec une charmante décoration. Rien n''y manque pour les besoins quotidiens, y inclus le chauffage qui est très efficace. On y a resté en grand groupe et tout le monde s''y est senti libre. Le balcon à une vue fantastique sur la Garonne. La localisation est parfaite : avec le tram (l''arrêt est juste devant la porte) on n''a besoin que de 5 minutes pour arriver au Grand Théatre et 8 minutes jusqu''à l''Hotel de Ville ! À pied, 10/15 minutes pour arriver à Quinconces. La relation avec le propriétaire à été impeccable, il s''est montré toujours prêt à aider pour résoudre quelque problème ou pour nous donner des informations sur Bordeaux. La communication à été excellente. Je recommande fortement cet appartement et la prochaine fois qu''on se déplacera à Bordeaux on ne vas pas chercher d''autre logement. Il faut aussi dire que la ville et ses gens sont merveilleux. Merci Bordeaux, merci M. Challe "

"l''appartamento corrisponde alla descrizione, è molto grande, molto bello e molto attrezato; soprattutto la cucina dove abbiamo mangiato ostriche, foie gras e canard! molto comodo: 3 fermate del tram per il centro e si ferma proprio sotto casa. silenzioso nonostante le finestre stiano sul lungo fiume. ottimo!"
