Lovely two bedroom with large roof terrace

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,076 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 0 - 5 nights

About the property

Romantic 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, canal view

Unquestionably one of our prettiest properties - a charming apartment that ticks all the boxes offering sweet canal views plus a terrace on top!

Perched up on high above the picturesque little wisteria-clad ‘Corte della Comare’ or ‘Courtyard of the Midwife’ near Dorsoduro’s Campo San Barnaba (an Instagramer’s dream come true!), Ca’ delle Comari sleeps 6 in delightful surroundings elegantly furnished with a feminine touch.

Within hopping distance of VOV’s 15th century Grand Canal Palazzo Loredan (home to the splendid Ca’ Cerchieri family of apartments), and reached by a gated external stone staircase rising from the courtyard below, this bright and cheerful duplex apartment sits on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the property (no lift) and borders the dainty ‘Rio Malpaga’ canal.

Newly and carefully restored, its warm and decidedly characterful accommodation comprises:

· A cosy and inviting main sitting/dining room with soft lighting, exposed beams, terrazzo flooring, air-conditioning and a quaint Juliet balcony looking over the canal below

· A compact yet well-equipped galley-style kitchen with a washing machine and everything required for cooking at home

· Two attractive and air-conditioned double bedrooms in shabby-chic style and creamy gelato colours - one with a double bed and canal view to the side and the other overlooking the ‘corte’ with a double bed which can also be divided into twins at your request

· A bathroom in Venetian red with modern fittings and a separate shower

A stone staircase to the top floor, home to -

· A large air-conditioned ‘mansardine’ / lounging area with a vaguely Moroccan vibe and two fold out single beds beneath low white-washed beams - see photo gallery for room proportions

· A further bathroom (this time with bathtub - please note the sloping ceiling / restricted headspace)

· And steps leading up to the magical (and very high) ‘altana’ furnished rooftop terrace looking over Dorsoduro’s skyline to the Church of San Barnaba* and offering a partial glimpse of the Grand Canal to the rear

* although some of you may remember it as the library in the movie ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, the church is now venue for a permanent exhibition of the machines of Leonardo da Vinci

Are you part of a larger group who would like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer several other apartments in very close proximity: Ca’Cerchieri 3, Ca’ Cerchieri 1, Ca’ Cerchieri Mezzanine, Ca’ Cerchieri Terrace, and the spectacular Ca’ Cerchieri Piano Nobile and Ca’ Cerchieri Loredan

Picture-postcard-perfect both inside and out! - A delightful and quintessentially Venetian apartment in one of our absolute favourite spots.

A short stroll to the Accademia Galleries / Bridge (leading over the Grand Canal towards Campo Santo Stefano), to the stunning Zattere waterfront with its fabulous canal views, and to the Squero San Trovaso (founded in the 17th century and the oldest of only a tiny handful of working gondola boatyards still left in Venice today, where skilled local artisans continue to craft, maintain and repair gondolas by hand using century old methods).

Moments to an wonderful variety of small shops, bars and well-regarded restaurants including Enoteca Ai Artisti, Ristorante Riviera, Quatro Feri, Oniga and Locanda Montin… not forgetting Cantinone Gia Schiavi-Al Bottegon for spritz and ‘cicheti’ with the locals, and Bar alla Toletta for superb ‘tramezzini’.

Convenient to 2 vaporetto (water bus) stops - the closest at Ca’ Rezzonico (next to the Ca’ Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Venice) and the other at Accademia, and within very easy reach of the famous fruit and vegetable boat moored at San Barnaba plus 2 well-stocked supermarkets - Conad on the Zattere and Punto in Campo Santa Margherita for all your self-catering needs!

Magic of Venice infects two more travelers!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been happier with our accommodations in this lovely apartment and with the arrangments for transport from VCE to the apartment by the water taxi.

The description and the pictures of the apartment are absolutely accurate, but even they do not go far enough in describing how perfectly situated in the Dorsoduro the apartment is and how nicely appointed – right down to flower vases, an espresso maker and the dishwasher and washing machine. We were literally a 5 minute walk from the Accademia Bridge through picturesque narrow Calles and probably 6 minutes from the Zattere at a slow meander. Cafe's and restaurants abound in and around the Campo San Barnabus - a 2 minute stroll and more in the Campo San Margarita another 2 minutes away. Grocery stores are very convenient in San Margarita (Punto or Coop) and on the Zattere (Bilo) and the best gelato at Grum is that 2 minutes away.

We stayed during the Festa Redentore - the third weekend in July and were able to see the majority of the fireworks in the San Marco basin from the roof terrace, after a long multicourse meal prepared with fresh ingredients from the Rialto markets and the green grocery barge moored along the canal at Campo San Barnbus at the Ponte dei Pugni.

Thank you Filippo for a wonderful introduction to Venezia, we are forever spoiled for mere hotel accommodations. We have recommended your apartment(s) to all our friends and my only hesitation in submitting such a great review on the internet is that the apartment may not be available the next time we want to come to Venice. But I'll guess I'll have to take my chances.

Once again thank you.

Great quiet location

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Venice with three kids. We had a great time -

the property is in a great location, quite close to the vaporetto stop and to some very nice bacari and restaurants. The area is much less busy than San Marco and I would really recommend it for families. There are a couple of squares near by where you can buy anything you need. The apartment is great, with canal views and everything you need for self catering. The hosts were also very nice and available for anything you need. There is a nice roof terrace which is great for lunch/dinner and a glass of wine!

Perfect spot in Venice! Amazing.

  • 5 of 5

I am so happy that we found this apartment, out of the hundreds that are available. It was perfect for our family, and gave us the feeling of really living in Venice, if only for a few nights. From the beginning, the owner was extremely helpful. He actually manages many more apartments, so has a staff available to help out. They arranged water taxis for us, met us at the apartment, showed us the best places to eat and shop, told us how to get around.

The apartment itself is located at the back of a small courtyard, and up a few flights of steps. The pictures are all accurate, but don't do the apartment justice. Especially amazing are the views from the rooftop deck and out the windows, watching boats go by in the small canals.

The beds are all very comfortable. The linens beautiful. The apartment was spotless. The AC worked everywhere. The kitchen has everything you'd need (though we didn't cook once). We just loved it.

Beautiful, roomy, authentic Venetian apartment

  • 5 of 5

The photos do not do this apartment justice, as it is prettier, brighter and much larger than they show. My husband, daughter and I spent 12 of the most wonderful vacation days of our lives in this charming building in the serenity of the Dorsoduro section of wonderful Venice. Filippo and Rachele of Views on Venice made the rental arrangements and the arrival and departure so easy and so gracious. The apartment is perfect for families, as it has 2 floors. The entire top floor is an attic garret with high ceilings, so there is room galore for a group to spread out and chill. The ancient wood beamed ceilings and terrazzo patterned flooring create an authentic Venetian living experience. We loved the convenient location, so close to the C'a Rezzonico vaporetto stop for cruises up and down the Grand Canal to different areas of Venice to explore. There’s a very short walk to the one and only remaining floating fruit and vegetable vender in the city and nearby supermarket, making it so easy to stock up on food and beverages (a huge selection of Prosecco!) Campo San Barnaba with several stellar restaurants, a great bakery and a café is a 3 minute walk away, and we spent many happy evenings visiting the many cafes and restaurants in lively Campo Santa Margherita, again just minutes away by foot. Questo appartamento era perfetto!

Really nice apartment in a great situation

  • 5 of 5

This is a really nice apartment. We stayed as a family of four for five nights in summer. It was very well situated and the roof terrace was superb. The air conditioning was good and very welcome. No problems with the flat at all and the management was relaxed and friendly. The roof terrace appears in a James Bond film! All in all we highly recommend it and the area is quiet and far enough away from the crowds (but near enough to the main sights) to rank as a very good place to stay. Stairs to the roof terrace are steep, so be careful.

Gemütliche und helle Wohnung in Dorsoduro

  • 5 of 5

Danke Mr.Gaggia !!
