Relaxing holiday at Casa Amarilla
We just returned from a 5 day stay at Casa Amarilla—the first time for us (two couples, five kids). The house is a tastefully restored traditional cottage, rooms are bright and spacious, great swimming pool and lots of room to relax and play. We noticed that the thick walls keep the house fairly cool when the temperature is high outside. We definitely enjoyed going to the nearby beach, Bolonia, with its sand dune, and with its chiringuito’s great seafood.
Over the past Christmas season, our family spent a two week holiday in southern Spain and Tangier, Morocco. We enjoyed many accommodations during our trip, but standing above all was our time at the Yellow House. We began by meeting the owners and family in Seville. They graciously hosted us for a glass of wine and appetizers in their home there and went to extraordinary lengths to give us directions to Casa Amarillo.
Upon our arrival to the rental a short distance from Tarifa, we found an architecturally rambling (in the best sense) and beautifully appointed home that couldn't have been more comfortable. It is set in a rural area on the side of a large hill overlooking a lovely pastoral scene replete with Roman ruins and over the top of which is the Mediterranean, stunning views and a beautiful beach. Fifty yards down the road is the local bar where the locals gather in the evening and seemed to enjoy the presence of a few Americans.
Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING- from the bedrooms to the living spaces to the bathrooms to the kitchen) about Casa Amarillo is comfortable and designed to enhance the experience of the quiet beauty of the area surrounding it. Instead of writing that we loved our stay at Casa Amarillo, I write that it was a absolute privilege to be allowed to spend time at Casa Amarillo.

When you do reach Tarifa enter the village, continue driving into the direction of Cadiz, after 7 kilometers you first pass the exit on the left to Punta Paloma. About 200 meters Further on, turn left left, a small road between two white pillars. At the entrance of the road there's a sign saying "Military Zone no transit", but do not Let That scare you off, the military zone begins only a few kilometers further down the road. After driving uphill acerca 1.5 km, take the road to the right, with a sign 'Betis'. After driving about 1 km you will pass a very small bridge. 20 meters after the bridge turn right. You will see Casa Amarilla n. 22. You are arrived.
