Rural charm beneath an ancient olive tree
The accommodation is in an old converted outbuilding of the main house, which is used in the summer by the owners. We had the place to ourselves, which was great - although because we came late in the season, the sun left the garden and the swimming pool in the early afternoon.
There is a double bedroom upstairs, which is tastefully and intriguingly decorated with African pictures and ornaments. Downstairs in the living room there is a sofa bed and a single bed - though I can't imagine who would want to say there. Not convenient for kids and no privacy for adults. The washing facilities in bathroom are rather eccentric. There is no means of sealing the plug holes in either the bath or the wash hand basin, so full immersion of any kind isn't possible. The shower isn't fixed to the wall either, which means the only way of freshening up is to hold the shower over one's head and crouch down in the bath and hope not to spray the floor.
We decided not to drive for miles to restaurants, so cooked for ourselves instead. This was fine, but there isn't much choice of knives and utensils.
These are minor criticisms. Over all we loved staying in Ville di Paraso. The area is stunning, the villages extraordinary, and the mountains fabulous places to explore. On a final note, it's definitely worth brushing up on your French. No one we met spoke English, including the lady from the village who gave us the key.
Delightful hillside hideaway!
We will always remember having breakfast under the 500 year old olive tree after a morning swim, looking out onto beautiful hills and hearing the sound of distant church bells. The property is full of character, basic but has everything we needed. It was bigger than we expected. Denise and Alain were discreet but charming hosts. Alain is clearly very proud of his old family home, next to the holiday property and of the lovely village. Both are very helpful - and Denise English is good - which was useful at times! The setting is lovely with the village a short walk away and some stunning countryside all around. We definitely want to return to this relaxing haven. Merci!
many thanks for your comment. Nous serions également très heureux de vous accueillir de nouveau
Ce fut une excellente semaine à Ville di Paraso. Alain et Denise étaient très gentils. Nous avons apprécié la tranquillité dans cette région.
Cadre superbe, agreable maison, tres bon accueil
We were here with our 7 month old son Oskar - We had a great time! It is a very nice and quiet place and we enjoyed the pool and the beautiful garden a lot while our son liked to play in the sandbox. The house and its surrounding is beautiful and you have a fantastic view. Alain and Denise were very kind and helpful, they gave us great tips for excursions. Thank you so much!
Nous vous remercions d'avoir exprimé spontanément votre satisfaction pour les vacances que vous avez passées fin juillet 2015 dans notre maison. Nous serez toujours les bienvenus chez nous si vous revenez en Balagne. Denise et Alain Spacensky
