Home Away From Home
This is a beautiful and comfy gem located in the heart of the north for easy access to popular sites for day trips. Very well kept and clean with comfortable beds and all the amenities needed. We would definitely recommend this home away from home!!!!
Thank you again.
We love the ‘beautiful and comfy gem’ statement - thankyou Laura for coining that phrase; you certainly needed a comfy spot after such a long journey.
Yes, Cavan View has pretty much everything you could need for a ‘stay’, and more… You also mention ‘clean’: we do believe a clean home is a healthy home, clean and organized makes everyone feel happy and reduces holiday stress levels!
Thanks for visiting our HomeAway and we trust your stay in Ireland has been special and memorable… come again!
With our best wishes

Fantastic property and location
The property is perfectly located for exploring Northern Ireland and also the Republic if needed. Everything you could possible want is within 90 minutes’ drive; rolling hills and mountains, beautiful beaches, rivers, lakes, rugged coastline, Belfast and Derry, forests, mountain biking, kayaking, short and long walks and exhilarating driving routes. As you can tell we packed a lot in and Cavan View was a perfect base. From the welcoming pack to the large spacious rooms to the huge well thought out garden, it was brilliant from the moment we walked in the door . Bedrooms were really comfortable and there was loads of space to spread out but also a big kitchen for coming together for family meals and playing games. The games room was well used with pool and table football our favourites, none of us great at ping pong. The house was spotless with all the equipment we needed, even knives that cut properly which is fairly unusual in a holiday home for us. Andrew and Margaret are wonderful owners, always available on the end of a phone and providing loads of information and even arranging for some left behind items to be posted back to us the week after we left. That’s what I call looking after your guests. The house definitely suits a family and could easily accommodate a large family or multiple families. We had a great 11 days in Northern Ireland and cannot recommend the house or the country enough.
What a stunning review! We’re very appreciative of the time and effort Sean and the family have taken to so comprehensively review their stay at Cavan View. We need say no more!
Feeling ‘Looked After’ is certainly fundamental to a good holiday in our books so we’re always keen to help where needed. And touring Northern Ireland from Cavan View works a treat as it’s so easy to cast out in any direction. (Here also seems a good place to once again praise our house-keeping and garden team who keep Cavan View so well!)
Perhaps you’ll be back again Sean to visit all the places you ran out of time for…
With our best wishes,
Andrew and Margaret
Our lovely stay at Cavan View farmhouse in Dungannon
Andrew and Margaret really make this home feel welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. Waiting for you is a delicious welcome basket with local jam, cider, teas and brown bread. Everything was explained and labelled to help you use their appliances. They really thought of everything to make your stay flawless. The beds were really comfortable and we had plenty of linens/towels for our family of 6. The owners also have a woman, named Ruth, stop over to check on you to answer any questions you may have about the house and the area. She clued us in on various places to visit and about the local shop having fresh bread and scones every morning. The area itself was lovely to walk around when we needed a "down" day and the house itself is really convenient to all the tourist spots, such the Giants Causeway and Belfast. We felt very safe and relaxed during our 5 night stay in this house. Well done Andrew and Margaret and thanks again for sharing that beautiful farmhouse!
We’re very grateful when our guests take time to write such positive reviews after their stay. Cavan View has seen a busy season with folk from England, Ireland, N.Z. and now N.Y.!
We certainly seems to have got the ‘recipe’ right for the Welcome Basket of local goodies – glad that was enjoyed; and Ruth is a star when she calls, managing always to put people at ease straight away, having bountiful ideas for days out and nearby resources and of course knowledge of the house.….
Jet-lag invariably takes its toll (and Cavan View is a good place to relax) but we’re very glad that you managed a good day out at the Giant’s Causeway, and Belfast of course with its terrific Titanic Exhibition Centre – so much more to see and do next time!
With our best wishes,
Andrew and Margaret

We would stay there again without any hesitation.
We were delighted to welcome the Fox family to Cavan View and although the stay was brief we're so glad the weather was kind and a bit of the outdoors could be enjoyed - the gardens keep US busy all year round!
Yes, we agree, Cavan View is a 'home from home' hence our enthusiasm for HomeAway, a good fit we think for finding and choosing the accommodation here.
Welcoming previous guests is also the icing on the cake so we look forward to seeing you again!

Wonderful place, wonderful hosts
Cavan View was the perfect location for us to explore Northern Ireland. The home itself is lovely and stocked with the all the essentials but the extra touch was the Welcome basket that greeted us when we arrived containing tea, coffee, marmalade and a delicious loaf of Irish brown bread. Margaret was frequently in touch to ensure our stay was going well and to answer any questions and she went the extra mile having a neighbor drop by with a fan for the unusual ‘heat wave’ that was hitting Ireland/UK at the time. The kids loved the game room as well and the grounds offered excellent opportunities for exploring (I personally loved the Secret Garden). Highly recommend!
A July heatwave in Northern Ireland!
We're very glad that Cavan View - and Northern Ireland - have been able to offer our American guests warm hospitality and warm weather for both a touring holiday and time to relax 'at home'.
At home, our table-tennis table never fails to add a touch of hilarity to a spare moment and, we agree, our gardens are looking well and worth exploring.
We're only a phone-call away and always enjoy both helping and hearing from our guests.

About Andrew and Margaret Liversidge
Our country farmhouse, circa 1820, has a fascinating history and could tell many a tale - we love it! Cavan View is our ‘Home Away’ which we want to share with you and so it seems particularly in-keeping that we’ve adopted ‘HomeAway’ to help us get in touch with our Guests... In 2015 it was evident that Cavan View needed rescuing and given a purpose. Sometimes houses ‘call’ - Cavan View needed caring for and restoring… That’s what we’ve done with gusto, undertaking a project which has certainly kept us very busy and proven a steep learning curve at times. A thorough survey indicated the extent of the work required and, for over a year, the house was scarcely habitable while it underwent a comprehensive refurbishment. Have you seen a drill bit which is long enough and strong enough to drill through three feet thick solid stone walls? Cavan View was originally a single-storey, stone, thatched cottage given a second floor at the time of grandfather William McIlroy’s marriage to Annie Hayes in 1915. It certainly was ‘avant garde’ over a hundred years ago, the most prestigious house for miles around. With more than a ‘nod’ to the past, whilst modernising on the one hand, on the other we’ve managed to hold on to some of the original features such as lathe and plaster ceilings in two of the bedrooms, the old, low, flat panel doors into the bedrooms, the original staircase and hand rail and even some of the original internal wall plaster. We constantly have an eye to changes for the way ahead…but in the meantime, we're threatening to put the lids firmly back on the paint pots (for today at least!) and with the house now looking so cosy and well cared for, it could be time to boil the kettle and have a wee cup of tea! For us, the whole of Northern Ireland and beyond continues to beckon and we cast off in a new direction on new adventures every time we stay at Cavan View. So come and start your adventure - why don't you?

Why Andrew and Margaret Liversidge chose Dungannon
Our recent reviews from both families and business guests outline the theme of 'Why this property?' better than we could possibly say ourselves - read some below or check out our own website (of obvious name) for a detailed listing of Reviews: *Andrew and Margaret have worked hard to transform their 19th Century Farmhouse into a four star, self catering retreat. A four star award represents an 'excellent' standard of accommodation and I have no doubt that guests will enjoy their stay. Senior Quality Advisor at Tourism Northern Ireland * Cavan View Farmhouse is spacious, comfortable and welcoming, we had a fantastic week - large gardens and everything we needed in the house for a family holiday. The location is great for exploring, close to Dungannon and Armagh and all of Northern Ireland's main attractions are within easy reach. Particularly enjoyed the Antrim coast, Belfast and the Mourne Mountains. We intend to return as there is still so much more to see. Mr & Mrs L, England *Cavan View is such a wonderful guest house. We enjoyed a long weekend when we visited N. Ireland recently for a wedding. It was the perfect base with everything we needed. Lovely and warm for the chilly evenings and a really well equipped kitchen. We really appreciated the lovely welcome basket and being able to make drinks when we arrived. Mr & Mrs T, London, England *Beautiful, homely, property, bright and airy with a great space and a fantastic welcome. Project Officer Mid-Ulster Tourism *Cavan View is a very comfortable, warm house with all the facilities and we really enjoyed staying there. The self-catering was ideal for us as you aren't confined to times and can do your own thing. Working overnight meant that we needed somewhere quiet during the day and we got great sleep - one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! Cavan View is very nearby to local towns and we would certainly recommend to our Company that we stay there again. Team leader with PMM
What makes this Farmhouse unique
'Central' is the buzz word for the Killyman, Dungannon, County Tyrone area and Cavan View Farmhouse is perfectly sited for that easy access to all parts of Northern Ireland. We're only an hour’s drive from most of Northern Ireland’s main attractions – Belfast’s Titanic Centre, Mourne Mountains, Giant’s Causeway or Fermanagh Lakes and filming locations for Game of Thrones. Dublin and Donegal are less than two hours drive and Dublin is also a great day out via train from nearby Portadown. Follow that with 'local' and 'home' and you will find that there is plenty to see and do in the nearby area (National Trust for starters...) whilst enjoying that sense of privacy and space which only a 'home from home' can offer! Read a Review from recent South African visitors: * Myself and my wife had the opportunity to stay at Cavan View during a glorious couple of weeks in the Irish summer. Whilst there were only two of us, the house is perfectly equipped to cater for a family or larger number of people who would be greeted by the tasteful decor and finishing touches that makes it feel all the more special! We had taken time out for some ‘retreat’ and ‘reflection’ time during our sabbatical and, whilst being centrally situated, Cavan View enabled us to find that peace and tranquility we were looking for - as well as being positioned for us to travel north, east and west to explore the beauty of the Irish countryside. It is our hope to return to Cavan View in the future where we are certain to build upon those memories that we took from our initial visit. Mr and Mrs T. Walker, S. Africa
