About Laura Mayall

Hi there,

My name's Laura. I am the owner of Le moulin de Launay.

I fell in love with the place the moment I laid eyes on it and spent 15 years living in France while I renovated it with my husband.

When my daughter was born we moved back to the UK, so now I have wonderful caretakers over there to look after the houses and the animals.

It's a gorgeous part of France. I hope you have a wonderful time there.

Kindest regards,

Why Laura Mayall chose Vieux-Viel

Recently redecorated ,this loft apartment offers a light and airy feel underneath traditional old beams.

What makes this barn unique

The property is ideally situated to visit Le Mont st Michel and a number of other local attractions. At the same time as it is close to attractions it is still in a quiet rural location off a quiet lane. the perfect place to relax.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've had a lovely peaceful stay. It's a beautiful part of the country, lots to explore. Would love to come again.

tranquil location in a beautiful converted barn property. Very clean, well equipped quirky .

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location. It was so peaceful and relaxing. However it was so close to many wonderful things eg Mont St Michael, St Malo, Cancale. Great beaches are not far away. The nearby villages and small towns had some lovely markets, creperies good boulangeries and a supermarket only 10 minutes away.

The property was beautifully presented. It was very clean , comfortable and well equipped. We loved the four poster bed and the quirkiness of the place. The property is on the first floor and has a raised balcony where we had most of our meals looking over an idyllic rural landscape.

The booking process was good and the hosts Suan and Tom were delightful. They were so helpful and we loved our welcome pack.

The area would be great for cycling and for children too. We loved it !

lovely... so relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

the loft is great if you want to relax, enjoy Brittany and have a really lovely place to stay for your holidays!

we were pleasantly surprised when on arrival we were greeted by the hosts Wendy & Darren who looked after us right throughout our stay - there when we needed them and let us relax in the enclosed garden when we wanted to enjoy the sunshine.

at the loft you get a few bonuses - an open plan living space (if you have children there is a great little bunk room!), roll top bath, open terrace overlooking corn fields, Juliet balcony overlooking more open countryside, private garden and also a communal garden.

you can also book treats for your arrival - we picked the hamper and it is the very first time (we travel a lot!) we have booked something like this and actually felt we had our moneys worth! at just 20EURO it was great and not only covered a great sharing board for our first night though we used bits throughout the week. also the hens eggs were a nice addition from their hens!

we enjoyed a night to where they put on a little bbq and we all brought something along which was a nice opportunity to get to know some other people staying in other gites and also the hosts.

at first we thought it may have been a it far out to explore the region though it really wasn't and being near good highway links we had a few days of travelling around and of course visiting St Mont Michel which is around 20minutes away.

another bonus was that it was ideal for our little jack russell who was safe in our private area and was able to roam around from the loft to the garden!

all in all a great place to stay and we would definitely consider a return visit... the first holiday in a long time we totally relaxed!

Owner's Response: Hi Kristina & Lee We're really happy you had such a good time, along with Billy! He was so well behaved and a pleasure to have stay with us. Glad you enjoyed the hamper too. The Loft's garden is particularly ideal for children and pets as it's fully fenced. This means you can keep an even closer eye on them from either relaxing on the upper decking or from the sun loungers or splash pool in the garden below. We hope to see you all on a return visit. Warm regards. Wendy & Darren

Idyllic French apartment

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this lovely quiet conversion over the barn. The view and location were fantastic. You can easily visit many places of interest and the local country roads are quiet so walking and cycling are both very safe.

The Apartment was lovely and clean and well stocked with anything you need for a comfortable stay. The open plan bedroom arrangement may not suit all visitors but we loved it. For kids the bunk bed room was equipped with toys and books for those rainy days. Loved our stay here and recommend to almost everyone although the stairs up to the apartment may prevent the less able from staying here.
