About Scarlett Williams
My husband and I are attempting to create a very lovely life on 8 acres in Blacksburg. We host vistors year round in our beautiful in law suite. Cavan is an artist. I have a small counseling practice. We have a three year old and are lucky enough to share three meals a day together most days of the week. Cavan is also an excellent chef.
Scarlett Williams purchased this Studio in 2012
Why Scarlett Williams chose Blacksburg
Having done my fair share of traveling, the guest house is a beautiful place to stay. My favorite spot is a bungalow in Costa Rica. I have attempted to create the same feel with the guesthouse. Quite- peaceful-relaxing- contemplative-beautiful.I felt so refreshed after my time in Costa Rica and I hope some of that same feel goes with you upon leaving the guesthouse.

Clean and spacious
I would stay here again. The only issue was the rain on the tin roof! We were not expecting that and it was super loud and hard to sleep through. Thank you to the owners for showing us how to use the heating system, we were warm and comfy. The kitchen is adequate for preparing meals.
Calm, convenient, and comfortable
This is a lovely place for a couple to escape to--a calm, light, private space that's close to what the area has to offer in the way of trails and woodland mountain views, but also very close to town and all its attractions and amenities. The "guesthouse" is the annex--completely self-contained, with its own entrance--to the main house, where the owner, Scarlett, and her small family live. Scarlett and Cavan are friendly and well-organized, but do not intrude in any way during your stay. The photos tell you what the interior is like: uncluttered simple decor, large windows, expanses of wood floor, and large indoor plants. Ideal for yoga and meditation as well as cozy conversation and shared meals. The bed is very comfortable. If lack of privacy and sharing the single bathroom are not concerns, those sofabeds could accommodate a few more people. We were there in the most frigid part of winter, but the place was always warm (heating was adjustable) and there was plenty of hot water, lots of clean towels, bedding, pillows, Internet, and so on. There is no TV! I loved that. The kitchen has all the basic equipment, nothing fancy but all of good quality, and fine for those (like us) who prefer preparing their own meals. We have stayed there twice and will certainly come again.
Loved Cedar Run!
We were down for Parent's Weekend at VT and had a wonderful visit. Cedar Run is spacious, comfortable, and relaxing. The home is lovely and set in the woods - which, we loved. Cedar Run provided everything we needed and we will be back!
Quiet, rustic, comfortable, clean, cozy, affordable and close to Va Tech
It was perfect for what we needed. It was comfortable (even the futons), clean, quiet and homey. There was no tv - and we liked that!
We were there for the Va Tech vs. Clemson football game and mostly just slept there. The owners were really nice. We loved their dog Ester who hung out with us Saturday morning. Will definitely stay there again. The price was very affordable especially compared to what other places charge on game weekends.
We really enjoyed our stay at the guest house. The owners where very accommodating.
Great experience! Perfect house for our mountain getaway.
The space is open and comfortable. We have 2 young children and it was a perfect place to stay while we visited Virginia Tech. The beds are unsupportive and we all slept great. The kitchen had everything we needed. The high ceilings, minimal clutter, and large deck reminded us of our time in Costa Rica.
Scarlett was helpful and generous. Cavan's artwork added personality to the space. We hope to stay here every time we visit!
