About Scarlett Williams

My husband and I are attempting to create a very lovely life on 8 acres in Blacksburg. We host vistors year round in our beautiful in law suite. Cavan is an artist. I have a small counseling practice. We have a three year old and are lucky enough to share three meals a day together most days of the week. Cavan is also an excellent chef.

Why Scarlett Williams chose Blue Ridge Highlands

Having done my fair share of traveling, the guest house is a beautiful place to stay. My favorite spot is a bungalow in Costa Rica. I have attempted to create the same feel with the guesthouse. Quite- peaceful-relaxing- contemplative-beautiful.I felt so refreshed after my time in Costa Rica and I hope some of that same feel goes with you upon leaving the guesthouse.

What makes this studio unique

We are family owned and operated.

Quiet and comfortable

The house was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Everything we needed for a weekend in Blacksburg and floating on the river.

Beautiful peaceful and spacious

Pet friendly and quiet. Near downtown and VT campus makes it very convenient but not in midst of college bustle.

A happy repeat guest!

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts always provide us with a clean, comfortable place to stay close to VT. We love we can travel with our dog. On this particular visit, we had some car issues and they were most accommodating with our checkout.

rustic retreat at Blacksburg

  • 3 of 5

Our first impression driving up to this residence was one of surprise. The photo's and description of the guesthouse don't prepare you for a house that is under construction, has only a small parking area for guests, and is inadequately lighted from parking area to the rental unit. Once inside you find a very clean, large room with two futons for the extra guests, and a very nice bedroom with a 4 inch mattress that is definitely eco-friendly, but not comfortable. The unit has a tin roof that the squirrels love to throw acorns on all night testing your ability to sleep. While the unit's proximity to VA Tech is a definite positive, guests just have to be prepared for simple living, without any television, and a facility that does not invite you to want to stay any length of time in the unit. If on the other hand you want to get away from the amenities that you are accustomed to then this guesthouse is for you.
