A fabulous panoramic ocean if you awaits you at our tropical getaway for a budget price! Our small, simply furnished, self-service, self-catering cottage studio offers a wonderful tropical getaway for one person (a writer in need of a retreat?) or two people (want a brief romantic interlude?). The studio features a full kitchen for those who like to cook and a full bath, a deck directly overlooking the ocean, and a convenient mid-island location that is a short drive to all major attractions. Our studio cottage is most accessible via automobile, and so most of our guests engage a rental car. **Guests should book rental cars well before their stays, as cars may sometimes be in high demand on island.**
We also offer courtesy use of washer and dryer on site as well as courtesy use of Internet and basic television (when available; local conditions may result in periodic outages or unavailability in services). Guests should also be aware that there is no land line phone service. Guests' United States-based cellphones are usually useable at the property; check with your phone service provider.
We are not a resort or hotel; we are much less grand than that. Instead what we offer is a simple place, the perfect spot for the quiet, contemplative, budget-minded traveler who wants a few stateside conveniences along with a magnificent ocean view and island charm!
Great for vacationing or for pre-move visits. Short-term contract employees: ask about our rates for three month stays.
The owners are very professional, yet friendly! I spoke on the phone with Kay and she put me at ease and worked hard to accommodate my needs. She was very forthright in dealing with finances and logistics. I had no surprises. I was also given a "guide" to help me get along with the culture on the island! This was extremely helpful. The owners even met me near the airport so I could follow them "home" This was a very nice touch!
Upon arrival, I was impressed with the simple, yet elegant decoration and furnishings. The little things needed at a new place were also included; bath towels, beach towel, toilet paper, paper towels, a gallon of water, basic kitchen utensils, glasses, and pots and pans.
This charming studio was the perfect transition place for me! I stayed 10 days and have now had some time to see some other places and feel that I got a great deal!
We were lucky enough to have recently had an extended stay in Palmarie Too, in January. The communication with the owner, from the very beginning was extremely helpful. Even though it was listed as a very basic/simple place- we loved it. Although it is a studio, we found that the layout of the room, along with the lovely porch, accommodated us perfectly. We felt very safe and enjoyed the semi- seclusion of the yard. Most of the time this area was very quiet. This unit is centrally located to all of the beaches, to town and to many local places to eat.
The place itself seemed newly painted and was very bright, clean and cheery. We definitely appreciated the wifi, and the large screen television.
The porch receives the sun in the early morning and the house remained pleasantly cool the afternoons and evenings. We appreciated the overhead fans as well.
It was wonderful to have so many windows in Palmarie Too, which allowed us to see the gorgeous view from inside the room. We enjoyed the many hummingbirds who visited the flowers off of the porch, as well as a family of iguanas who sunned themselves.
The linens were adequate, although we did purchase more bath and hand towels. A great feature was to have the washer and dryer in between the two units, and we had no trouble sharing them.
We do feel that the listing description was accurate and appreciated the heads up about the stairs heading down to the apartment. It was very tricky fitting our rental car into the space, but once we got the knack of it, it wasn't a problem. The only thing that we would add that could a drawback to some, was that the road below the house was frequently used by the many island trash truck drivers who because the road was on the curve, continually honked their horns as a warning for the passing traffic early in the mornings, and late afternoons. After a while, we didn't seem to notice it much. It would have been lovely have had beach lounge chairs to use on the porch and the beach as well.
We look forward to returning to Palmarie Too and renting for another month, next year. It was a most enjoyable stay, and we recommend it to a couple or a single renter.
This was an outstanding stay.
Absolutely stunning views. Washer and drier on the premises which is absolute must (we tried to get to Meghan's Bay as much possible and I had to wash all my sandy towels and apparel). The place itself is an absolute delight. High ceilings making it feel really spacious and a bed facing the porch where I drank many a rum and coke. Appliances including a dishwasher, stove, were also handy because I cooked a ton. The only downside for me was that I like long hot showers and the hot water ran out quickly; but it is the islands and not New York City. I also thought Kay was extremely direct and professional which I value in business. I'm hoping to stay for my 30th birthday in a couple of months.
What a lovely stay. First of all, the place is spacious. I was there by myself but it's the perfect getaway/lover's retreat. It's private, nestled in one of the many hills of the island. The full kitchen (full stove/fridge, etc) was nice since I prefer to cook myself, and the gas grill outside was a huge plus. I say this because it can get hot so turning on the oven/stove inside sometimes seemed less than ideal---having the option to cook outside was clutch.
The best part about this amazing place was THE VIEW! the deck is perfect and faces the turquoise Caribbean sea. At night, some rum in hand, I'd sit and gaze at the moon and clear stars above (while, of course, cooking my meal on the gas grill outside). Awakening in the morning to the sun rising over the ocean...Well, it really put me in a place of zen.
One thing I will say---You'll need a car or a taxi service's number on hand to stay here. It's about a 20 min trip from the airport (depending on traffic). Nonetheless, to enjoy the best beaches around (I went to Magen's bay while I was there, about 10 mins from the place), you'd need a car anyway.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place. Definitely.
