There is a pellet fireplace in the living room, and a well equipped kitchen; including, coffee pot, microwave, full sized stove/oven and refrigerator. Nature is everywhere, from our resident winery cat to wildlife in the vineyard. Several other wineries are within walking distance and many, many within a short drive. The cottage is equipped with bath products, bottled water, information on local attractions, winery maps, and recommendations.
I love Paso Robles both for it's beauty and it's comfortable pace. I purchased the property in 2014 and did an aggressive remodel to the property and the winery's tasting room. I am an active person who enjoys hiking, horseback riding ( my two horses are often seen on the property), fitness, golf and WINE!
Janis Denner purchased this cottage in 2014
You will love the location of this cottage and property. It is rural, yet very close to town, restaurants, bars, and other wineries. It's truly a perfect location if you enjoy privacy and being in a rural vineyard setting, yet want the conveniences of a nearby town.
VINEYARD views EVERYWHERE, close to all the Westside winery action. Spacious, private cottage, waiting for you!!
Janis: Thank you so much for these amazingly lovely accommodations!!! Pelletiere has made our trip one to remember! We LOVED everything. We'll be back,. Thanks again! Lauren and FRED
Even though it is only 10 minutes to Paso Robles, the cottage is tucked away in the rolling hills with vineyards in every vista. There was very little road noise so often we only heard birds chirping. The vines come up to the patio and there are lovely gardens around the house. We loved to sit on the patio or wander around with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The cottage is also spacious and very comfortable. Overall, we felt like we were in a bit of heaven.
My husband and I had a wonderful time and LOVED this cottage. We found it nicer than we thought it would be which is always a great surprise. The furnishings were comfortable and updated. The cottage itself is ideally located, sizable and well appointed. I would return easily and have recommended it to a friend.
My husband and I enjoyed four nights at this cozy cottage in October. The little house sits right in the middle of the vines and offers stunning sunrise views. We took long walks in the vines each morning. The location is perfect between east and west side wineries and just a short drive into Paso Robles proper.
We loved having an outdoor patio, garden area with picnic table, fully equipped kitchen and spacious bedroom and bath. We found the living and dining area comfortable for our needs. There is a window a/c unit in the Master Bedroom which we didn't need, but I can imagine during the peak summer months things could get warm during the day. Most of the windows have screens if you like to sleep with the windows open.
We sampled the wines in the winery and would have loved a complimentary tasting as a guest of the cottage (hint hint) but purchased a couple of bottles to enjoy. The tasting room is steps away from the cottage and offers some nice winery-branded items and wine themed gifts.
I agree with a previous post that a keypad entry on the gate would be ideal vs having to get out and re-wrap the chain every time you exit or return to the winery (when the tasting room is closed), but I realize those kinds of upgrades can be expensive.
The cottage was clean, bed linens were very nice, Turkish towels were weird, but we got used to them.
The only real negative I have is the water and it's not something that should keep you from staying here, but just to be aware. The water is well water and very, very hard (highly mineralized). So all the faucets, shower head, etc., have mineral buildup. You can't drink the water but can bathe in it. It leaves a slightly chalky residue on your skin and hair, which could be solved with a water softener system, but again an expensive fix. It was not terrible and would not sway us from staying here again. We used bottled water for coffee, etc.
As residents of Sonoma County, we went to Paso Robles to experience the wine. We were not disappointed (returning with 4 cases!) We loved the region, the wine, and this lovely little gem of a cottage. A super value for what you get compared to a hotel. If you really want the experience of living in a vineyard, this is the place.
I hesitated to write a review of this property, as I dislike writing negative things. However I feel that it is important for other travelers to get the real scoop (that would be according to me and my husband). Your experience could be different and the things that are important to us might not matter to you. Never got an email with address and directions until we requested the morning we left. The owner charged an extra fee for insurance, even though we had purchased the insurance from VRBO. Insisted that we be there no later than 5PM, or would be charged an extra $100, which meant we could not stop anywhere to sightsee or shop except for a quick lunch. When we arrived it turned out that there is no lock on gate and the keys could have very easily been left somewhere for us, however it was required that we had to sign a contract agreeing to: not wearing shoes in the house, being responsible for any damage(we bought the insurance), leaving the kitchen clean, and other pickyune (sp?) issues. The place is clean however their are no pieces of furniture in the livingroom that could be considered comfortable (straw pillows anyone?) so if you wanted to relax and watch tv not really possible except if you wanted to lie in bed; but No tv in bedroom. One other word of advise....bring your own towels as the towels supplied are thin cotton fabric that were more like shawls than absorbant towels.
This home is clean and is in a great location for visiting the wine country of Paso Robles and nearby places such as Cambria, Hearst Castle, Morro Bay, and San Luis Obispo. The home is clean and well provisioned with a great bathroom, full kitchen, and wonderful bedroom with a comfortable bed. This home should be considered as a better option than booking a hotel if you want to stay in this area; it is much larger and more comfortable than renting a hotel nearby. The place has charm and you get to stay on the property at a working winery. Thank you Janis for your hospitality which allowed us to spend a wonderful month on your property.
We enjoyed our stay in the midst of the winery! It was comfortable and convenient!
Wonderful to look out the window and see the vineyard! Janis made sure we had everything
we needed....and their wine if great! Close to downtown and other wineries as well. We will
Paso Robles is a great town for sightseeing and taking in the countryside. The town is also excellent for foodies and wine lovers. There's are 200+ wineries in Paso Robles and a town full of great restaurants. The ocean is a beautiful 25 minute drive on one road. There are many activities to do in Cambria, or Morro Bay from water sports to art galleries to hiking. Hearst castle is another attraction which is close by.
