Jordan Estate Condominium at Windcliff: Panoramic RMNP Views, 2 Masters, Hot Tub, Borders Park

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 8

Jordan is a premier Chambord vacation condo at prestigious Windcliff Estates. It is deemed perfect for family gatherings or as an intimate romantic retreat. Where the driveway ends, there is nothing but the beginning of a wilderness paradise in your field of view. Cross the threshold at Jordan and enter a promised land of mountain luxury and privacy. A lofty, beamed great room features windows big enough to encompass a view of the magnificent Mummy Range of the Rocky Mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park. Peaks named Chiquita, Chapin, and Ypsilon will be keeping an eye on you throughout the course of your stay. A large-screen TV, a moss-rock wood-burning fireplace, and an electronic keyboard are companions to comfortable great room seating that offers the rich touch of leather. There is even a “chairman of the board” toddler’s chair complete with a miniature ottoman. The library has contributions by Dickens, Longfellow, Clancy, Ludlum, Holmes, and Thurber. Choose your music --- Shastakovich’s Symphony #5, Haydn’s Greatest Hits, or a selection by the Traveling Wilburys. The cupboard beside the fireplace is rife with games and puzzles.

Jordan's kitchen is primed and prepped to help bring your loftiest menu plans to fruition. The breakfast or beverage bar is well-appointed with bar stools for those not directly involved in the cooking. A beautiful slate dining table awaits the presentation of your culinary offerings. Meals are presided over by the portrait of a Native American chief cradling a peace pipe. And, when the outdoors is calling, the deck at hand is kissed by trees and beckons with a family table all its own, a gas grill, and seating aplenty --- even rockers. Wildlife grazes within your field of view. The stunning peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park tower before you. And, the National Park is literally within hand-shaking proximity. Walk off the deck, cross the driveway, and within 50 feet you can step over your own private boundary into the National Park. You are “back-yard neighbors” with the 415.25 square miles of this majestic wilderness.

Cowboys and Indians roam the halls and the walls of Jordan in fine art prints. The artist’s brush of Charles M. Russell is well represented. There is a remarkable panoramic photograph of Windcliff taken long before fine mountain residences like Jordan came into being. In it the rocky, tree-strewn Windcliff of yesteryear stands proudly on the ramparts of Ram’s Horn Mountain --- the jewel of the land grant issued by President William McKinley.

The master bedroom suite boasts a Jacuzzi tub and the million-dollar views that have made Windcliff so famous. One level down is a second master suite, the same mind-bending views, a Jacuzzi of its own, and a pictorial presentation of two of the National Park’s premier offerings --- Long’s Peak and beautiful Bear Lake. The king bed is draped in rich tapestry. Down one more level is a queen bedroom plus bunk beds sturdy enough for even the great black bears that roam the neighborhood! Here, too, you enter a cedar-lined hot tub suite with plush towels stacked at the ready. Windows on three sides open to trees and vistas of indescribable beauty. “Time” at Jordan is “time stopped” --- and bliss begun.

There are cross-outs and erasures in the Guest Book at Jordan as resident visitors have striven to find appropriate words to characterize their experience:

• “Your home is awesome!”

• “Your home has exceeded our highest expectations.”

• “Very seriously one of the best vacation spots I have ever been to.”

• “The hot tub was sublime!”

• “…..incredible views from every window.”

• “It was just the kind of ‘time out’ we were hoping for.”

• “A must for everyone.”

• “All of us were in awe of the house, and the views from the Great Room.”

• “The deck was a great place to hang out and enjoy our grilled dinners.”

• “Amazing views of the sunsets across the valley.”

• “This home has great views --- nestled in a peaceful mountain community.”

• “…..breathtakingly beautiful!”

• “We heard something we don’t hear very often --- silence.”

• “Incredible views of the Rockies from every window.”

• “Look no further, book this home now!”

Although Estes Park [Rocky Mountain National Park’s gateway community] is only 15 minutes distant by car, you will always feel securely tucked away at “Jordan” --- separated from the “hustle and bustle” of people and their traffic. The Windcliff enclave embracing the “Jordan” residence is a private residential community comprising 260 acres on the sunny western slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain. It is served by a single entrance to private roads with no through streets or heavy traffic. It is truly a world apart!

Nothing short of fantastic!

Located on top of the world. Amazing views. Hiking trail at the bottom of the hill. Deer right outside the bedroom window. Well appointed. Clean. Great place to go with a big family or have 3 couples share.

Very relaxing with wonderful view of the mountains and SO quiet

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place to land after a week touring Durango. The scenery was mind blowing. Simply beautiful. The aspen had turned golden and the quietness outdoors was perfect. The house was very well equipped and the beds so very comfortable. It felt just like a very nice home an not a sterile hotel. We were a company of 4 senior adults and enjoyed the easy hike just off the deck several times. The hot tub was clean and felt wonderful as we opened the windows on the cool nights. We highly recommend The Jordan to any and all who want to experience the peacefulness and beauty of the mountains. We saw plenty of mule deer right out the door and many signs of elk as we hiked. We hope to be able to return again to this wonderful spot.

Perfectly located in Estes. Stunning Views. Some Modern Updates Needed.

  • 4 of 5

The mountain views from the hot tub, outside patio, and main living area were breathtaking.

Jordan's location was perfectly secluded, quietly tucked away high and deep within Windcliff. It was a perfect distance from the bustling town of Estes in summer, and perfectly located to quickly jump into the Rocky Mountain National Park early in the morning. Each day, we saw mule deer and rabbits wandering the property.

The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. There was no cell reception at the Jordan, which we saw as a positive, at least until our children discovered the wifi. There were plenty of blankets and pillows.

We spent our days wandering the RMNP, including climbing Alluvial Fan, hiking to Black Lake, Mills Lake, Sky Pond, Mountain 1250 and Mount Ida, driving a harrowing trail ridge road, hiking to Alberta Falls, Timberline Falls, Loch Vale, Dream Lake, Nymph Lake, Emerald Lake, and Lake Haiyahaiya. (Lesson learned: be out the door by 6AM to enjoy quiet trails) Then, we'd recover in the hot tub, dine on the patio under the trees watching the sunset, and pack for the next day's adventure.

On the down side, for me, the Jordan could be a better experience with some decluttering (I'd suggest tucking away pictures of the owners family and reducing knicknacks), some fresh paint, and updates to the kitchen and bathrooms (appliances, simpler linens and better towels, lighting, and countertops). One bathroom needs to be re-caulked and we needed to re-clean to our standard on our arrival. The stairs leading to the hot tub needed maintenance.

While I'd stay at the Jordan again, I might look at other properties in Windcliff or along the rivers for a new experience.

Overall, the Jordan was a great value and within our travel budget, in good condition, a great late find in Estes, and a great fit for our unforgettable family vacation with 5 (yes 5)teenagers.
