Located within the Wai ‘Opae Marine Life Conservation District, Blake’s Beach House is home to some of the best snorkeling in the world! The large tide pools are protected by an outer reef; providing a safe environment for families, residents, tourists and those with modest swimming abilities to enjoy. While exploring the incredible coral gardens, diverse marine life, and thriving fish populations, you may even come across a turtle or two!
Blake’s Beach House was recently renovated with an upgraded kitchen and tasteful heirloom furnishings that will remind you of the best Hawai‘i has to offer. The master suite comes fully furnished with a king-size bed, luxury bed linens and towels, and a private bathroom. The second bedroom is furnished with two twin beds that are easily combined to form a second king-size bed. Both bathrooms are equipped with luxurious granite vanities, full tubs, and showers. The main bathroom also includes direct access from the deck, the ultimate convenience after a long day of swimming and snorkeling.
The Gourmet kitchen is appointed with high quality stainless appliances and offers full ocean views from the 12-foot island/bar. Whether you’re standing at the cook top, sink, dishwasher or seated on the bar stools – you won’t miss any of the action. You’ll also enjoy serene sunrises and unobstructed ocean views from the wrap-around deck; the ideal place to sit with coffee and good book at breakfast or lounge with a cocktail at sunset.
When you’re ready to venture out, black sand beaches, waterfalls, nature hikes, and scenic rain forests are all a short drive away. One mile to the South, you can swim in the volcanically heated ponds of Ahalanui. Farther down the road, you can surf or boogey board at Isaac Hale (or Pohoiki) Beach Park. Eclectic Pahoa Village, about 15 minutes away, has grocery and health food stores, restaurants and gas stations. Uncle Robert's Awa Bar and Farmer’s Market, located about 20 minutes South in Kaimu, is always a source of interest, frequented by local musicians.
Blake’s is conveniently located 50 minutes from one of the Big Island’s major attractions—the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with hiking, restaurants, museums, and more. While Hilo, the second largest city on the island is just 40 minutes away.

True beach house!
Thank you Kirk for being such a gracious host. When we arrived at night, the keypad didn’t work so he drove from the city and gave us a set of keys. The house itself is very well decorated and well stocked with all the things we needed for a comfortable stay. There were quite a few harmless beetle insects that we had to vacuum up. And the lack of A/C (lacking most everywhere on the island) made it very warm in the house. But at nights, it cooled down with the sea breeze. Something about that and the sounds of the ocean gave us some of the best nights of sleep ever! The house itself is within a small and secluded community and is about 45 minute drive to Hilo. This is a very remote location, but the beachfront access to the tide pools was awesome. Our girls had so much fun exploring, and the coral and fish we saw were amazing. Overall, we had a wonderful and memorable trip!
Mahalo for your stay with us. It was a pleasure to meet your family. Aloha, Kirk
Perfect Spot for the Family
We are definitely looking forward to staying here again! The house was clean, with all of the amenities we needed. The setting is remarkable, and Kirk did an excellent job with directions!
We have been to 5 of the Hawaiian islands and this is our favorite spot!
Mahalo for your kind words and choosing to stay with us.
One of the best views of all the tidepools
I was absolutely impressed not just by the location of the property but also the supplies available. We brought our own supplies but when we ran out it was convenient to be able to use what was made available. Thank you Kirk!
Lovely location, home and service!!!!!!
We have had another wonderful stay at Blake's. The view is gorgeous. The house is spacious and well equipped. The snorkeling is excellent. It is just a short walk to the main tide pools. We had no issues. Kirk does a great job of management and been a real pleasure to get to know. Highly recommended!!!!!! (We also recommend driving down to Kalapana. The coast is spectacular.)
Mahalo nui loa Jan. It’s been great getting to know you during your stays.
