Beautiful mountain cabin! A week away filled with relaxation, beauty, and wonderful memories!

  • 5 of 5

The Bear's Lair was just the perfect cabin we were hoping for. We could relax on the covered deck and just sit in the swing or soak in the hot tub and enjoy beautiful scenic mountains from the back porch. We came a little early to see the fall color, but everything was so beautiful that we really didn't miss it. We loved the gas fireplace in the early mornings. The beds were so comfortable. We cooked at the cabin most nights and the kitchen was well stocked and perfect.

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad train ride was the highlight of our trip. Definitely a must do. Lots of shops to visit- something for everyone. Kayaking down the river was amazing- my first time in a kayak but it won't be my last. We saw a play put on by the local community theater group. Excellent! A scenic drive to waterfalls, the semi-annual Art in the Park, and the high ropes course with The Blue Ridge Adventure Company also made our trip lots of fun.

Thank you Ed for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. We will be back!

Good location!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the Bear's Lair the week after Christmas. We were very fortunate to find such a nice cabin for our first stay in a mountain cabin. The cabin was clean and the view was beautiful. We especially liked the location of the cabin which is between Blue Ridge and Ellijah. Both had quaint downtowns which were lovely. Many scenic drives are close by too. Another great thing is that Ed was always reachable for any questions, concerns, or recommendations. Thanks so much!

Beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

This cottage was very basic, but comfortable. View was great but I did not care for the drive up and down. Several stores/restaurants in neighboring towns only open on the weekends (Thurs-Sun). We enjoyed the hot tub and watching the storm clouds. Ed was easy and excellent to work with. Nice to receive a check up call making sure we got there okay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review Linda! I am glad that you enjoyed the view from the hot tub! To get that kind of a view you need to be up high on a mountain. Having a higher elevation means driving up the mountain for that reward! It only takes 5 minutes or so to make the climb. We hope you will visit us again!
