Thank you so much Cindy for all your help with our stay. My whole family had a wonderful vacation relaxing on the lake and enjoying music by the campfire. The sleeping arrangements and living spaces along with all the indoor activities were perfect.

A gorgeous, serene and well maintained Shang Ra La

  • 5 of 5

From June 14-17, our family stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for a most memorable, restful and pleasing get away. The lodge is an immaculately maintained get away destination perfect for large families or smaller groups. The listing was very accurate and described all the features guests are bound to enjoy during their stay. Some members of our family are very athletic / active, so they enjoyed the canoeing on the lake or bicycling the beautiful mountain trails nearby. Cindy, the owner, went out of her way to pamper and cater to our needs. Most definitely we unhesitatingly recommend this vacation destination.

Family celebration-again!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd visit and again it was great. This time we celebrated 2 graduations and several birthdays. It’s the perfect place for everyone to sit around the dinner table and reminisce! The grandkids had fun sharing memories and the grandparents enjoyed sitting in the gazebo enjoying the sunshine. I love that everything we needed in the kitchen is already there. Great place to stay!!

We loved our stay!

  • 4 of 5

The lake House just amazes you when you pull into the driveway. Gorgeous home and scenery. The home and property alone has so many beautiful photography spots. I love the interior design of the home and it all flows very well. It’s just a gorgeous, homely, and comfortable cabin country style lake home. This home has everything you needed. The owner literally meant that it was fully equipped. The beds were amazingly comfortable as well which shocked me. The only downside to the home is the steep steep hil. The description doesn’t do justice for the actually steepness of that hill....but it was still worth staying at! I do recommend the owner getting sharper knives. Also, another double sided paddle for the canoe because it worked well for the kayak and the single paddles didn’t do too well for the canoe. I would definitely come back to this lake house but hopefully it isn’t too rainy because the mud made it harder to get to the dock. The Foothills outdoor boating company also made our boat and paddle board rentals simple for us to rent. Good community of people.

Owner's Response: Stephanie and Outdoor Friends, WOW WOW,what a Extreme Adventurous group. You came in and seized the moment. The beauty of the area and surrounding activities. I love the positive attitude. We have had rain for 14 days and 14 nights. Which is not normal for our area. I also ,had a challenge going down to the dock after the rain.We appreciate a very Green Group ,Adventurous and Loving Life. I will have knifes and paddles ready for next time. Come Anytime! Sincerely, Cindy Mittet

Our group has stayed at Wilderness Lodge in April for 11 years during Merlefest and we have already reserved it for next year. Our actions in returning year after year should speak louder than words. We are a group of old friends, now 11 in number, who live in different states. Wilderness Lodge has been a great place for us to get together. We tend to gather around the large dining table, whether we are eating or not. The dining area on the main level adjoins the open living area on one side and the kitchen on the other. This layout makes it easy for a lot of different conversations to be going on. This main living area easily accommodates all of us. We enjoy being out on the spacious decks, sometimes eating there. The lodge is secluded and quiet, but only a 15 minute drive to grocery stores and shopping. There is a lot to do within easy drives. You can drive to Boone or Blowing Rock in 50 minutes or less and the Blue Ridge Parkway is even closer. Cindy, the owner, is very responsive if any problem should arise. Wilderness Lodge is a unique place. We have thoroughly enjoyed the time we have spent there. We recommend it. Joe & Jane Beatty

This place was awesome! We had 15 guys there for a wedding party and we had no shortage of fun. The lodge comes stocked with all the essentials in the kitchen, bathrooms, and pretty much everywhere. Golf cart was nice to drive down to the lake. Fire pit had plenty of chairs and wood to have fire going the whole time. The lake is really nice to go for a paddle in the kayak or canoe. Cindy was super helpful with any questions I had and always got back to me in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for any occasion!
