About Casey & Angela Smith

We live in Marietta, GA and loved going to the Highlands each year for our wedding anniversary. In 2014 and 14 years together, we decided that it was time to have a place that we could go and enjoy time away as a family more often.

Casey & Angela Smith purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Casey & Angela Smith chose Highlands

Highlands, at 4,100 MSL, can be 10 - 15 degrees cooler than Atlanta, which is attractive to us. Many times in July, we are wearing pants. We also chose Highlands because of its high-end shops and dinning as well as ample choice of outdoor activity.

What makes this cottage unique

We choose this property because of its Old Highlands history, walking distance to two lakes, proximity to town and the 2 acres with a creek, which is sure to keep our 3 young children exploring for hours. We are the third family to own this cottage since it was built in 1948. The house had great bones and after some TLC and a remodeled bathroom, it is up to date in rustic elegance.

Lovely cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

This cozy and artsy cabin close to highlands is exceptionally clean and has everything you need...fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, a collection of cool traditional and whimsical art. Especially love the tree faces in the outside space. Loved the trails in the yard, leading to a treehouse for kids and adults. Enjoyed coffee in the covered, furnished “hammock hill” pavilion next to a stream that meanders through the property. Also took walks through the neighborhood and down to the lake, in addition to an abundance of mountain hikes close by. Loved our stay!!! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home.

Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We spend a lot of time in Highlands as both my family and my husband's family have houses there. Christmas was looking a little crowded in the family homes, so we rented this cabin for extra space and it was a great choice! The house clean and welcoming - just as pictured. Sheets and towels were great quality. Location is wonderful. It was very cold when we were there, so we didn't get to enjoy the outside spaces or canoe - but it looked like it would be fun and relaxing to come during a milder time of the year.

This was the perfect cabin to enjoy a good fire and stay cozy after an 18 inch snowfall in Highlands

  • 5 of 5

We had absolutely everything we needed for a comfortable few days. We had good books and games; the house was perfectly warm with even a special heater for the bathroom to help prevent the pipes from freezing in 12 degree weather. We would love to return. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Nice place for a weekend away

  • 4 of 5

The property is in a great location. It is very close to town and a great restaurant on the water. Very clean and nice except for a dirty pull out couch, but we made it work!

Owner's Response: Hi Kate, we were at the cabin a few weeks ago and everything was very clean, including the couch. Something must have happened between our visit and yours. We will look into correcting the situation quickly. Thank you for your feedback but it would have been nice to just have an email vs a permanent review over something fixable.
