We invite you to visit our area and stay at Kilkenny Cove Cottage where you will enjoy a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, comfortable, spacious log cabin on the waters of Kilkenny Cove. Enjoy the front deck overlooking gardens and nature or lounge or dine on the back deck where you can enjoy a screened porch or open area and look down the rolling lawns towards Kilkenny Cove with magnificent views of the mountains of Acadia National Park. Watch birds and nature happen right before your eyes. A large living/dining room or quiet den allow even a big family places to have plenty of room to enjoy.

This is a fantastic place to kayak or canoe as the waters are calm and gentle. Swim, fish and play in your private cove. Watch the dramatic tides come and go.

Kilkenny Cove Cottage is a great place to bring your family as there are several private acres of lawn to fly kites, play ball, run and play. Launch your kayak right from waters edge and enjoy the coast and all its beauty. (We can arrange kayak rentals for you)

Enjoy your meals from the sunny porch (screened or open) and watch your cares go by. Relax, unwind and welcome to Maine!

Why Laura chose Acadia

This property has historical significance as the Maine Central Railroad railbed was down 'Clark Road' and was active from 1870 - 1931 and ended at a Ferry Terminal on Hancock Point, just a short distance from the cottage.

Steamers then took the passengers on to MDI (Mount Desert Island)

Among the notables who would have traveled on 'our road' were Vanderbilt, Pulitzer, Morgan, Rockefeller, Ford, Presidents Taft, and Harrison.

Vanderbilt had a private car that was so long (73') that it couldn't fit on the turn-table on Hancock Point, so it was backed down to Providence, R.I. to be turned around to come fetch him when he wanted to leave Bar Harbor!

There is still a right-of-way over Clark Road by the Maine Central Railroad Company in our legal description. Even though the rail tracks are gone, you can enjoy walking the grassy trails right down to the water. Come visit and stay where history was made!

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the Kilkenny Cottage. The cottage was clean, much more spacious than the pictures reveal, and had everything needed right at at our fingertips. We had 4 adults and 4 teenagers and the cottage had plenty of room for all with room to spare. The views of the cove were amazing and the sunsets and stars were even better. We had kayaks delivered and kayaked the cove everyday. The sunrise from Cadillac Mountain is a must but it does require getting up early. The cottage is located an easy drive to Bar Harbor, Acadia and Schoodic- all of which we visited. We cooked all meals at the cottage but one and that was the day we had lunch at Thurston's Lobster which was well worth the drive and money. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic Maine stay away from it all but still close enough to all the major attractions.

Excellent Spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the Kilkenny Cove Cottage. The cottage was beautiful and very attractively furnished. The living room with its high vaulted ceiling and a functional fireplace was a just wonderful place to relax in the evening. Also, the broad back porch with an excellent view across Kilkenny Cove was a complete delight, We had most of our meals there outside looking out across the water and watching the humming birds flying up their feeders. Kayaking in the Cove was also great fun. The Cottage was very conveniently located with easy access by a short drive to either Acadia Park around Bar Harbor or the section of the Park on the Schoodic Peninsula. It was good to have easy access to both locations with a peaceful home base in between. Shopping was very convenient with a very easy drive into Ellsworth. We prepared most of our meals at the cottage with supplies from the excellent grocery store there. The kitchen at the cottage had all the facilities needed for our stay. It was a wonderful vacation spot and I would certainly like to stay there again sometime.

Perfect for Families!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here at Kilkenny Cove and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Close to everything but feels like you're isolated from the world. The view!! Everything you could need is there (but grocery stores and Wal-Mart are less than 10 minutes away) and outdoor activities are right at your fingertips. Kayaking, Exploring (with Wellies available to use!), lawn games etc....Schoodic Point is a must see and so close and Acadia is just as close, but in the opposite direction. The location could not be more perfect. Cozy nights in front of the wood burning fireplace and family games of ping pong downstairs. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy just being and reconnecting. And so spacious. My youngest claimed the back porch for her own the whole time we spent there!

Laura is amazing and attentive and made sure our stay was what we wanted it to be. Without question we will be back.

Wonderful Family Vacation Experience

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kilkenny Cove Cottage. The house is beautiful and so well-appointed -- it exceeded our expectations, which, if you look at the pictures, says a lot! We have two sons (ages 10 and 13) -- and they loved the house and property. The layout is beautiful and there is a fun ping-pong table in the basement, a beautiful porch swing. We rented 2 kayaks, which were easy so use in the cove - even for the inexperienced. Our elder son could kayak by himself and explore -- we even felt comfortable going kayaking at night with a full moon. The house is close to everything but you feel very removed at the same time. One of our kids has some special dietary needs so we cook in a lot. The local supermarket (Hanneford's) was fantastic, had everything we needed (large organic & gluten-free section). We spent our days all over Acadia and Schoodic. Laura was very helpful and attentive. We'd come back in a heartbeat!!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Kilkenny Cove was a wonderful place to stay in Maine. We enjoyed kayaking out in the cove and finding the bald eagles and seeing the seals swimming nearby. The cottage had everything we needed & plenty of room for my husband and I and our two teenage kids to spread out or be altogether. The cottage was private but if we needed anything it was just a short drive into town. Sand Beach at Acadia was one of our favorite places and Schoodic Point was well worth the drive. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for a family

  • 5 of 5

Kilkenny cove is amazing. We loved watching the wildlife right off the back porch. In a short car ride we were at bar harbor, Acadia national park and schoodic peninsula. The house had everything we needed, with so much room. It was family friendly (2 year old and 5 year old). I would definitely stay again or recommend to others.
