About Amy Howie

5th Generation family on ranch.

Our kids go to Gardiner School and we work here on ranch.

Summers we travel Montana with the kids and horses rodeoing and working/bonding with our animals.

We like to share the beauty of our place, it is private, quiet and very special for all kinds of reasons.

Amy Howie purchased this cabin in 1890

Why Amy Howie chose Yellowstone Country

Our place was homesteaded by great grandparents and cabins they built by hand, we restored for our guests to stay in.

We have horses, some cows, cats and dogs that like to visit with everyone.

They love treats and attention.

What makes this cabin unique

All cabins are nicely restored that show the detailed work our homestead family put into building them. Unique hand hewn logs inside and out, old family photos, unique antique decor with all the amenities. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and animals with big yards and decks give everyone enough room to move about and enjoy nature right on the porch. Fire pit for smores, creek flowing by, barbecue grill, indoor/outdoor furniture for everyone's comfort. The horses and dogs love attention and treats.

Perfection

We stayed at Grandpa's Cabin for 3 nights this past June as part of our Yellowstone trip. It was a 3 generation trip and everyone loved the cabin. The location was wonderful, very peaceful & watching the elk come over the ridge in the mornings was incredible. There were 6 of us and the cabin had more than enough room, the kids loved the loft bedroom. We used the fire pit several nights as well. We have recommended the cabin to several of our friends considering a Yellowstone trip. There is no wifi or cell service but that wasn't a big deal for us.

Perfect family get away.

  • 5 of 5

This was such a perfect little cabin. I wanted to move in! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The grandkids loved the playhouse. I liked that there is so much deck space so it is easy to spend time outside. If we get to go to Yellowstone again, we will definitely try to stay here.

Relaxing and much needed time away.

  • 5 of 5

This place was wonderful. We had a group of 4 adults and 4 kids ages 9,10,11, and 14. This cabin had plenty of space for our 2 families. The kids had a fun time exploring the grounds and hiking. The creek outside was peaceful and relaxing. The drive to Yellowstone was easy and direct. If you are looking for a secluded hide away this is the place. My only suggestion is that if you plan on being there for more than a few days bring extra towels. We look forward to coming back again.

The girls weekend went great and the cabin was a great choice for our weekend in the valley and the park. I would do this again but for a longer time. Very relaxing and comfortable.

Paw-paws cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. The cabin was everything we hoped it to be. We saw elk or mule deer every evening. This valley Is such a quiet and peaceful place. Having no phone service and Internet was actually nice. We cannot wait to come back in a couple years.

Owner's Response: Happy to hear your vacation was what was needed. Cell phones don't pick up signals much there, so I put a land line phone in cabin with options for ringer off just in case needed. It actually is nice not to be tempted with wifi all the time. Sure helps get away from it all and bond as a family with no interruption. Wifi is at other cabins and lodge outdoors n indoors if really needed. Thanks for staying with us.
