About Cathy and Ken Scott
My husband and I grew up in this area and were thrilled when the opportunity arose to purchase this cottage. Currently we can only use it during most of July and August and wish we could stay longer, especially in the fall. We purchased this place particularly for the awesome view from the deck and large windows facing the river. We love the village of Grand Bay-Westfield where you can pick up everything you need without going to the city. We also enjoy walking along the ocean beaches on warmer days where we expierience the tides at all levels. Restaurants in Saint John and Fredericton are very good offering any type of seafood you may enjoy. The butcher and bake shop in the village of Grand Bat/Westfield are excellent. There is also a popular seafood market approximately 15 min away. Many of our friends and neighbours in Alberta look forward to travelling to the Maritimes now that there is perfect place to stay. We hope you will as well.

Why Cathy and Ken Scott chose Grand Bay-Westfield
This property is so conveniently located to everything you may wish to enjoy or visit in this area.We are approximately one hour to the U.S. border, one hour to Fredercton, 3 hours to Nova Scotia and 2.5 hours to Prince Edward Island, if your desire is to travel to PEI or Nova Scotia as part of your holiday. For those who want to stay close, there are numerous day trips to experience the tides at Hopewell Cape or just tour the Kingston peninsula with its many ferries and beautiful river views and historical cement warfs built in the early 1900's to accommodate the river boats of the period. Saint John is a port city and the oldest incorporated city in Canada. There is a tremendous amount of historical significance that can be appreciated in this city.
What makes this Cabin unique
River front, beach front with private beach. Boat mooring, large south and east facing deck complete with a fire pit and wood. The cottage is well layed out in an open concept with large river facing windows. You will appreciate the beach type decor and cottage feel. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning and sitting on the beautiful and comfortable adirondack chairs, drinking your coffe and viewing the boats travelling up and down the river. Friday evenings are especially busy watching the sailboats and river boats travel up river to the numerous boating areas for the weekend. Some of these water craft are very impressive. We have our own private beach but there is also a public beach if you wish to drive your car directly to the beach as opposed to using our stairs. The beach is directly in front of the Morrisdale Beach Road lighthouse. There are numerous free riding ferries from the main land to all parts of the Kingston Peninsula which is a popular drive to take during the summer. There is a marina at the Evandale Ferry crossing ( 15 min drive) where you can enjoy a meal or just a cool drink. Kids are welcome to play in the pool at this oldest standing River Boat Hotel (The Eveleigh).

Peaceful, Awsome Views & Bed
The cottage is furnished very comfortably - especially the king size mattress. Nothing in any of the reviews or in the owner's description state the following: Washer & Dryer are in basement & entrance is outside under the deck. The washer connections leak and thus the basement floor gets very wet after each use of washing machine. The cottage's well water has a strong sulfur odor along with orange strains to the toilet, tub and any white laundry from the iron minerals in the water. The water was not filtered but the owner furnished a water cooler and recommended this water for drinking, cooking, coffee & tea. There is no dishwasher in the cottage so it would help to add that along with a water filter & water softening appliance is needed.
Thank you for your review. The washing machine has been fixed. Fortunately it was a minor issue. Therefore the basement is very dry...no leaks from the washer. I agree with the idea of providing some form of filtering for the washer. My husband will research this and install in time for next summer. This should address this problem. I have found some great cleaning product which has solved the iron stains in the bathroom. It is a great little summer home and we want our guests to be comfortable.
Wonderful, peaceful and refreshing!
My husband and I just spent a week at the lovely cottage! We so enjoyed the peace and beauty of the location. Our favorite time was simply sitting on the deck overlooking the river - beautiful! The cottage was very clean and cozy - lots of little details and heart went into making this truly a "home away from home!" The kitchen was well stocked with spices, condiments and everything you could need to make great meals! The cottage is in an excellent location to travel end explore all over New Brunswick and the Bay of Fundy area.
Thank you for your wonderful review. It means so much for others but especially for Ken ann I to know that others enjoy the cottage as much as we do and the thought we put in to making your stay comfortable is meeting your expectations. I hope you have to opportunity to stay with us again.
A beautiful experience
This cottage was a gem, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stayed for a week, and wish it was more. The view of the St. John River is fantastic, the accommodations great, with several amenities. Dealing with Cathy and Ken was easy and informative. There was plenty of firewood, and we used the fire pit five of our seven nights. All said and done, a truly wonderful experience. I would certainly recommend it to my family and friends, without hesitation.
Cottage on the River
This Cottage was very welled maintained and had every amenity you'd need to cook or clean up with. All you really need is your own food and toiletries. The Fire pit was amazing and all the wood is supplied. All the little touches are so whimsical and fun and make you feel right at home. It's also a Birders paradise .. we got to enjoy finches, humming birds, canaries and eagles. I could hear a woodpecker hammering away at a tree next door. I would love to come back and enjoy this beauty in the fall. Thanks so much to Cathy and Ken for a wonderful experience had by us City Folk !!
Thanks again Cindy for your review. We hope you have time to enjoy it again in the fall. Have a great summer. All the best
Morrisdale is located close to the village of Grand Bay/Westfield. It is a quaint area overlooking the large and beautiful Saint John River. Access to Ocean also very close where you can walk along beaches for hours. Must experience the worlds largest tides and Reversing Rapids. Saint John is a port city and the oldest incorporated city in Canada.
