About Kathleen Litchfield

Second owner and steward of this 1940's Cape Cod. 7th generation Washington D.C. native. Gardener, environmentalist (established Buffer Management Committee in Community and chair of Grounds Committee), business owner. Hobbies include hiking, yoga, kayaking, sewing, antiquing. cooking, local exploration, Purple Martin steward. Brother owns local restaurants. Many nieces and nephews who enjoyed their childhoods at this Bay home. Designed and built adjacent home for in-laws - who have since passed away but home is still in family care.

Kathleen Litchfield purchased this house in 1988

Why Kathleen Litchfield chose Central

I was always looking for the perfect home to unwind and find my balance. I first visited the community while working with a local client who had a home there and immediate knew I needed to find something close. The original owner had turned down several offers, as he had built the home himself and had an emotional attachment. The house is solidly built on 30' buried pilings and constructed of cypress. He knew I would respect and maintain his home and grounds as he had. I've loved every minute there.

What makes this house unique

As soon as I passed the home I knew if was for me. Charming and flanked by two large English boxwoods with a beautiful Japanese Maple in the side yard. Perennial beds, purple martin houses, off street parking and cool bay breezes. The view from inside the home appear that you are on a boat in the bay.

Beautiful beloved house in a charming community on the Bay! The decorations are carefully curated by owners who delight in creating a relaxing atmosphere for their guests. The property is well-maintained and immaculate. Highly recommend! Check out the Brick House and Driftwood Diner while you're visiting for local fare.

August at Cedarhurst on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find ourselves in a home lovingly maintained and filled to the brim with nostalgia from the 40's! The home is amazingly charming with views of the Chesapeake that were as amazing as advertised. The home is supplied with almost everything you would need, so we didn't have to open many of the boxes of supplies that we brought. The beds are comfortable and the air conditioners kept us cool during our hot August days. The sun porch is a bonus and we spent most of our mornings there watching the ships sail by in the distance and the shore birds land while we attended to the jigsaw puzzle that our hosts provided. We will definitely consider returning!

Absolutely lovely!

  • 5 of 5

A delightful trip back in time! My family of five enjoyed our trip to this very special cottage on the bay immensely. Spacious and well-equipped, this wonderful spot in the world was perfectly appointed. We enjoyed several day trips to Washington, DC, as well as to Annapolis and the surrounding towns. The view from the cottage is lovely! All of the vintage touches added to our special vacation experience in this sleepy little town. Beds were comfortable with plenty of room for all of us to spread out. We prepared meals frequently and had everything that we needed to do so. The cottage was immaculate. A chilled bottle of wine to greet us and a basket of goodies for the children were very nice touches. The property owner was terrific to work with -- everything went very smoothly. We enjoyed our vacation very much! Thank you!

Hidden Gem!

  • 5 of 5

Had a very special time at this timeless cottage. I love history and museums, and this was like taking a step back in time and living in a museum for a few days. I loved the kitchen, especially the stove. The attention to detail was amazing. The view out the front door of the bay was great! Having never been to Maryland I loved that there were so many books in the living room chronicling the history of the area. Close to Annapolis where I had one of the best days of my life touring the Naval Academy. Great hosts! Great little community. We will be back.

Super vintage home right on the bay. Steps away from park and pier. Friendly and helpful owners. Hope to visit again. North beach and Annapolis are a short drive away for a day trip.
