About Drew Reichart
The owner is an Indiana Hoosier who has lived in the Carolina's for 30 years now. When the home isn't being rented it is filled with sounds of our 4 kids (and most days, their friends too). It's a great place to spend a week or a childhood. Our kids swim off the dock, go tubing on the lake, fishing, and camping on the empty lots beside our home.
Drew Reichart purchased this House in 2008
Why Drew Reichart chose Chapin
So much SOLITUDE. It's at the END of an 8 mile long dead end road! That means little to no traffic, no road noise and lots of darkness. STARS like you can't imagine, owls calling in the night and moonlight on the water....BUT it's only MINUTES from a huge mall, restaurant row, groceries, doctors, parks and two multi-screen movie theatres.
What makes this House unique
Besides the Tempurpedic mattresses and the Wolf Range in the gourmet kitchen, this house is unique. The custom kitchen features Amish cabinets hand made in the Amish community of Arthur, Illinois by Amish craftsmen to replicate the kitchen in the movie, 'Something's Gotta Give'. The solitude in the evenings feels like you are miles from everything. Comfort, luxury, solitude and the lake.

I rented this property for family get together. Relatives traveled from Pa., De, Fl to get together
I could not have been more pleased with the property and owner was super easy to work with and extremely quick to respond to any question. There was plenty of room inside and out for everybody to visit and still have there own space. Grandkids loved the being able to use kayaks. As several other reviews state-run loved comfortable beds. I rent from VRBO 3/4 times a year and am seldom ever disappointed. This property however, far surpassed my expectations and we will definitely rent this house again.
Thanks for the great review! I should have told you that I own a mattress store! Lol
Wonderful house, location and experience!
Spacious kitchen and bedrooms. Quiet area. Lots of sun.
Thank you for the good review. Hopefully I’ll see you again next year. 😊
It was the first family vacation after the passing of my 98 year old Dad. I took care of him for 13 years. We had a wonderful time. The owner was great letting me know how everything worked. We meet him and what a nice person. The house was the right size for 9 adults and 3 kids.
We had an amazing time. The house is beautiful and very spacious, we had plenty of room to stretch out and be comfortable. We ended up renting a boat from the local marina and were able to dock it at the house. We spent our evenings gazing at the stars by the firepit or by the dock. We all had a memorable vacation time. We highly recommend this house. We will definitely be back again. Thanks for everything Drew.
It was great and met our expectations very well!
Drew was attentive and promptly responded to any of our needs or requests. All of my family agreed that we would stay there again.
I enjoyed meeting all of you! Enjoy the rest of your summer!!
Overall the house was in good shape. The location was just far away from the busyness of Columbia but the grocery store and the gym was close enough. Many utensils, pots and pans, and all of the things you would need in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable but we could have used more towels. The living room, the kitchen, and the back porch allowed us to spend a lot of quality time with the kids. We grilled a lot and used the fire pit outside. The house did need some maintenance. The faucet in the kitchen leaked constantly and the half bath downstairs had a funny sound after every flush. My wife and I commented on how nice the house was and wished that everyone who rented it would take good care of it.
We met Drew and he was always very responsive. We had originally planned on renting his pontoon boat as well but unfortunately it was not available due to damage by the previous renters. We used the kayaks but the kids were disappointed at the lack of having access to a boat. Drew did offer to buy some standup paddle boards but we couldn't get it there on time. Thank you Drew for the use of your house.
The small town of Chapin has a little bit of everything. Mexican food, Chinese Greek and Pizza. It also has a lively little bar, The Tipsy Toad. Dry cleaners, groceries, liquor stores and various churches are also located right in Chapin.
