Overview

About the property

Stately manor, five bedrooms, sleeps 10, two night minimum stay.

Built in 1799, the Retreat at Cool Spring is a recently restored historic manor house overlooking the Shenandoah River. Rich in history, the five bedroom luxury home sits on terraces overlooking the river, with five miles of paved trails for walking/biking directly in front of the house. A grand foyer, library, huge dining room and elegant living room are all a decorator's dream, and already have been the focus of many photographers' lenses. The house has five bedrooms and sleeps 10 with one king, two queens, one full, and two twin beds (twin beds are in the same room). The home is located in the heart of Virginia's wine country with over 10 vineyards within 10 miles.

Located 47 mi west of the Capitol Beltway, 21 mi west of Leesburg, Va, 17 mi east of Winchester, Va, near Rt 7. This is truly an exceptional home, surrounded by incredible peace and nature, and ever deserving of the name it was given in 1799... The Retreat.

About suzanne eblen

My name is Suzanne Eblen, I am the founder of The Old Lucketts Store in the tiny village of Lucketts, Virginia. My entire adult life has been dedicated to creating a welcoming place where customers can find the coolest vintage stuff, at great prices in a wonderful atmosphere. It has always been my dream to restore an incredible historic home, furnish it in the style of my store and let guests enjoy a place that is out of the ordinary... incredible, yet welcoming, historic, but not a museum. This home has answered all of those dreams. It is by far the most beautiful, special place I have ever encountered. The setting, the architecture... are beathtaking. It was slated to be a restaurant, a clubhouse, but those prospects by previous owners floundered, because this house deserves to be simply a beautiful home.

Why suzanne eblen chose Bluemont

I have never seen a property that for me is a perfect ten. The setting, the history, the architecture and the location, all make this home one of the most special places I have ever encountered.

What makes this estate unique

Each room in this house has incredible attributes. From the ten foot ceilings to the 200 year old windows to the amazing views, to the unbelievable hand carved woodwork. This is a truly special place, that I am honored to have been the person to restore it.

Perfect in every way! Great setting for family get together.

Delighted with the history of this house, and well considered renovation and appointments. It really felt like a sprawling family reunion (which it was!) as we celebrated my daughters wedding. I would definitely come back here next time we gather family in the area.

Wonderful property, and a delightful stay!

Only minor issue--it could have used some small trash cans in the rooms.

We loved our stay at the retreat! The home has so much character and charm. Beds were so comfortable and the decor was stunning. We wanted for nothing while we were there. We will definitely stay here again in the future!
