About Bob and Lori Baca
Villa Grande is under new ownership and management as of March 2015. Bob and Lori, who you may have seen on HGTV's House Hunters International (January 2015), are your hosts. The couple ditched their corporate jobs in 2014 and moved with their two young girls and four dogs from California to Manuel Antonio for the beauty and slower pace of life. They have quickly integrated into the community and are ready to help you do the same in this immense villa that has been upgraded, only 5 minutes from their family home. Bob and Lori have children and dogs and like to have fun, so they will know where to direct you for the best experiences in Manuel Antonio, no matter the makeup of your party. And because you will be hosted by the owners directly, the service you experience is assured to be exceptional - they want you to talk about it and to come back! As your personal concierges, prior to your arrival through email and/or telephone, they will tailor all your wishes: transportation, restaurant reservations, tour and excursion bookings. Once you are here, they are available 24 hours a day to implement your plan. And if your plan is “to have no plan”, they are happy simply to direct you to the blender and let you relax by Villa Grande’s vast pool or on the enormous fourth-floor sundeck.

Why Bob and Lori Baca chose Manuel Antonio
YOUR PRICE Your value at Villa Grande far exceeds your price. The rates are calculated in an effort to keep Villa Grande full every week, offering you a perfect opportunity to have a tropical vacation at a fraction of the cost of a hotel of comparable worth. For the amenities and services this house offers, it’s a challenge to find a better value anywhere in Costa Rica.
What makes this Villa unique
Size and Location are the district advantages of Villa Grande. You will find enough capacity for the large families, but still with comfort for each person to have his own space. The location is secluded (~1km off Manuel Antonio's main road), so you will not have challenges with traffic noise...just the peace and tranquility that makes Villa Grande a 'special find'.

Best family vacation
We stayed at Villa Grande for an extended family vacation and couldn't have been happier. We are a group of 14 from grandparents in their 70s to children ages 5-15. The house was perfect, plenty of room for gathering but also plenty of private spaces with many balconies. The rooms are very spacious, as are the bathrooms. The pool area is really nice with plenty of seating, and we used the pool bar regularly. The kids loved the size of the pool plus running around the enclosed property. The location is perfect with views of the ocean and privacy of the jungle. We saw monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and so many birds. Bob advised us about the best tours, and we are so glad we took his advice. The jet skis, ziplining, beach days, and catamaran were all perfect for our family. The chef meals are a requirement as well, especially with a big family since they not only cook and serve, but shop and clean, a pure luxury for those of us taking care of both kids and parents! The on-site host Andres was available for anything we needed, from taxi rides to restaurant reservations and lots of other smaller requests. The accommodations, location, and service of this house are amazing and highly recommended. We will be back!
Trip of a lifetime
Our stay at Villa Grande was nothing short of amazing! There were 8 of us in total ranging from 14-49. The home provided more than enough space for quiet time and family time. The experience began well before we flew into Costa Rica with the great attention to detail from Bob and his perseverance to get every detail right for our family. He even made some suggestions for us on our next leg of our trip to the Arenal Volcano area. Every detail of this trip was amazing. The house was perfect, the rooms were quite comfortable and the views were absolutely breathtaking. We were visited every morning by monkeys, iguanas and toucans on a few occasions. Andres was very helpful and friendly. He went above and beyond. Both Chef Javier and Chef Paige prepared amazing meals that everyone enjoyed and will be talking about for years to come. They were both friendly and helpful in suggesting things to do and see as well. Every excursion that was planned was amazing!! We all felt like we were being welcomed into a family and were truly impressed with some of the conservation efforts that are being made by some. We are all eager to come back in the near future and can not wait to experience your other properties.
Comfortable, peaceful and relaxing
We enjoyed our stay at Villa Grande! There were 11 of us (6 adults and 5 teens) that fit comfortably. We particularly appreciated all of the help that we received from Bob while planning our trip and then Andres was just instrumental in ensuring that our time in Costa Rica was smooth and relaxing. We highly recommend Chef Javier coming to the house to prepare dinner, this was the perfect start to our stay. We also loved the jet skiing, parasailing and the beach concierge from Blue Horizon. We will definitely be back.
SUN ,PINEAPPLES AND MONKEYS
We had a fantastic time. You're probably wondering how we could have has such a good time and only given the place a average rating. First of all we 9 active people in our mid 70's to mid 60's who hike, bike, ski , etc 2 to 3 times a week in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. So we really enjoyed the pool and the tours. Lori and Andres were responsive to our every need. Chef Paige did an outstanding job in cooking our Valentines Day Dinner. We walked the kilometer to the bus stop where for 53 cents (335 Colons) you can take the bus all the way to Manuel Antonio Park and beaches or to downtown Quepos. A real deal if you don't mind walking the kilometer in 90 degree plus heat. Taxi fare any where from the Villa is $10. The taxi drivers were so responsive and pleasant and for 5 people it was $2 per person so we didn't dicker. Half way the road is pot holed and rocky but hey you're in the jungles of Costa Rica. We got most of our groceries either at the small market half way to the Village of Manuel Antonio or in Manuel Antonio. No need to go to grocery shopping in Quepos except for the farmers market on Saturday mornings .Don't miss it. Also when you take the shuttle from the airport you can stop at the Auto Mercado to pick up your initial groceries. If you do the catamaran tour opt for the smaller boat (60 people) rather than the 80 person boat. The Rainmaker park is a must do with its suspension bridges and rocky trails. Nauyaca Falls is also nice with very easy trails. For dinner take the taxi to Ronnies Place, outstanding views and remoteness. We never needed to make dinner reservations, sometime we went as a group of 9 other times as couples. The villa however needs a lot of maintenance. The floors especially in the penthouse where we stayed need to be power washed to get the ground in grime from the tile floor. No cleaning lady can scrub that out. There are no dressers in the penthouse and no drawer space. There's a closet with 3 shelves, one of which was torn out. Three sinks up there only one had the hot water hooked up. Sliding glass doors need maintenance. Its more of a bar up there than a kitchen. The main kitchen needs to have the ice maker replaced/repaired, dishwasher replaced, pots and pans deplorable. Wondered how much teflon we were ingesting .Jacuzzi inoperable. Master bedroom is the best choise. You get the idea, needs a lot of TLC. The VRBO description must be from many years ago.
Thanks for the review, James. We are glad you enjoyed the area and the house and always appreciate feedback to continue to improve. We wish you'd mentioned any or all of this to us or to our on-site host while you were there, so we would have had the opportunity to make corrections. We always want our guests to leave happy. Please come see us again and let us show you how we take feedback seriously. Pura vida.
Fantastic trip, well organized
Lori was amazing at answering all questions and ensuring excursions were arranged. Andres was always available when anyone in the group needed anything and all went without a hitch. House location is convenient and all is large enough that everyone can find their own space. Highly recommended.
This property is nothing short of awesome. We stayed there with a group of 11 (4 adults, 7 kids) for a week. The property had everything we could have wanted. If there was anything we needed our concierge Andres was right on it. He was always accessible, expeditious, and happy to assist. All involved in this property are magnificent hosts.
