Please see the same 'Irish Rose' listing under Breckeridge--it has additional photos! Listing number is 13578.

Completed in May 2002, this mountain cabin is located on the historic Mosquito Gulch Trail. Just 15 miles south of Breckenridge, it is the perfect spot for either a secluded get-away or a ski vacation at a fraction of the cost.

Centered on ten acres of pine and aspen, the Irish Rose was designed to accommodate those who want a true Colorado experience. With Mosquito Creek flowing nearby, you will enjoy spectacular views of Pennsylvania and London Mountains as you relax with family and friends. A seven person hot tub sits out front in the location of an old historic mine if you want to relax and enjoy the view from there!

If summer hiking, biking or four-wheeling is your desire, four of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks are at your doorstep, providing some of the best hiking and driving trails in the world. Tackle the summits of Mount Bross, Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, and Mount Lincoln... all in a single day!

Gold pan on the local creeks, explore 'Buckskin Joe' trail, and visit the ghost town of Park City. The historic mining towns of Alma and Fairplay are also nearby. Mountain bike to your heart's content or drive the legendary 4x4 'Mosquito Pass' into Leadville. Pick wildflowers and view wildlife--there's something for everyone!

If winter activities are your goal, the beautiful village of Breckenridge is just a short drive north where you can enjoy premier Colorado skiing, dining, and shopping. Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Copper Mountain are also close. Or, stay near home and cross-country ski to your heart's content. We have it all!

The Irish Rose was built with families in mind. The main level has a great room with a gas fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful mountains and trees. It is surrounded by a huge 32 by eight foot wrap-around deck. A full kitchen and dining area are also on this level to create an open, spacious environment. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking.

There are two main level bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with double bed and trundle geared for up to three kids. The great room sofa also pulls out to a queen-size bed. The master bedroom loft has a queen bed, washer and dryer, along with a small private balcony. There are full baths on both the main level and the loft. The cabin also has a lower level with a private entrance in the back which is occupied by 'Mountain Kay', the landlord. Kay has 30+ years of experience in Park and Summit Counties. She is quiet, very knowledgeable on the local area, and can assist with anything you need. She has two old dogs who will go hiking with you if you like!

Experience the Rocky Mountains in the comfort of the 'Irish Rose.' At over 10,000 foot elevation, it's as close to heaven as you can get!

About Rich

We are a military family who built this home in 2002 and are blessed that we can share it with others!

Rich purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Rich chose South Central

We have long ties to this part of Colorado. The Irish Rose feels wild and secluded but is close to Alma and Faiplay, and a short drive to the mountain ski town of Breckenridge.

What makes this cabin unique

The Irish Rose has 10 acres of total seclusion with pine, aspen, a river, and amazing views. Many houses on the internet may look similar, but very few properties give you the total Colorado experience. Look at our guestbook and see that it will be a unique and memorable experience!

The Irish Rose Vacation 2013

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the "Irish Rose" was nothing less than spectacular. The Cabin was well maintained and beautiful, and well equiped with anything you needed. The land that it is on was fun for exploring and hiking or just relaxing by the creek.

The area is centrally located for touring the Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak and Brekenridge, along with other scenic sites.

The people of Alma and Fairplay were friendly and respectful and helpful when looking for directions or information. Our Family would gladly stay at the "Irish Rose" again and again whenever possible.

Thank You for a wonderful place for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.

Absolutely amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

The Irish Rose was absolutely everything we wanted and more! When we arrived we were so excited about being surrounded by nature and being in such a secluded area. When we walked in we were blown away by how beautiful, clean, and welcoming it was. We received a bag full of welcome items and banana bread (which was so delicious). The wrap around deck was so beautiful and such a treat to sit on. The hot tub was perfect, it was so clean and worked perfectly. The kitchen was stocked with every utensil you could possibly need. We were able to see different wildlife during our stay. I have nothing negative to say about our stay. The wifi was not working while we were there and it was so nice to not be connected with the outside world. The Owners and Kay were wonderful to work with and everything went so smooth. I would 100% recommend the Irish Rose!

The cabin that takes you away....

  • 5 of 5

The Irish Rose cabin is amazing. It is a very comfortable cozy cabin with great views. The cabin has views of the river with easy access. We enjoyed hiking around the property and taking in the beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed visiting with Kay the caretaker who shared stories of the history of the area. It was a great place for our family to make memories.

Nice, laid back area. Easy to find, clean well stocked cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week with a group of 4 adults and 5 kids. Saw tons of wildlife and great weather. Bull moose, deer, cow moose, big horn sheep etc. Cool birds all around too. Cabin is close to tons of Jeep trails. The stream out back is a nice bonus too. Tons of Aspen trees so would be great to visit in the fall. No beetle kill in the pines yet so they look great as well. Alma and Fairplay are close by and are laid back, mostly authentic mountain towns. Not the hustle and bustle of tourist trap towns. Very enjoyable to not have any cell phone service in most places!

Amazing and Unforgettable

  • 5 of 5

This property was everything we had dreamed of. The cabin itself was immaculate, filled with all the little touches most places would forget, and the views and land around were breathtaking. There were snowy mountains, huge trees and we even got to watch a rainstorm briefly blow in through the valley from the back porch.

The WIFI was pretty non-existent, but that is expected in a rural place. Besides, there are many things to do that don't include internet. If you insist on being connected, we recommend downloading music and videos before you arrive. The only other con we had with our stay was the burn ban, preventing us from using the beautiful fire pit area, however that was up to nature and nothing else. We still thoroughly enjoyed every other part of the property.

Would recommend for families or just a group of friends as we did - its a bit of a drive from Denver, but there are many cute little cities nearby with anything you would need. Well worth the trip and much prettier than a lot of the properties we saw along the way.

We will never forget this trip! Thank you so much!
