Large, Family Friendly Executive Home Overlooking The Ocean
Note: If you are viewing this listing from VRBO, there has been some confusion to travellers as the rent in given in US dollars only. Our listing is Canadian 2850/week in high season, and Canadian 1800/week in the low season. Longer stays are welcome and lower rates can be discussed for such a stay. From this hillside executive home, enjoy panoramic views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence withMargaree Island visible to the South and Cheticamp Island and village to the North. Ocean views are seen from almost every room in the house and remain unimpeded from both the upper and lower wrap around decks due to the lovely glass railings.
The perfect, spacious accommodation for multiple families - this large executive home can sleep up to 10! With endless nearby attractions such as Whale Cove Beach found just across the street, world class golf courses within 20 minutes, whale watching, deep sea fishing & lovely restaurants (we recommend the Dancing Goat and Island Sunset) – the whole family will fall in love with this seaside paradise.
Inside the roughly 3600 sq.ft. home you will find hardwood flooring throughout with tile entryways and bathrooms. The upper floor has a 4 piece bathroom, 2 large bedrooms and the master suite. The front bedroom and the master suite have patio doors which lead out to the breathtaking upper deck. The master bedroom features a luxurious en-suite bath with glass shower and claw foot tub as well as a computer loft over the stairwell.
Entering the main floor of the home you come through a large foyer and into an open concept living area which has impressive views of the hillside and ocean. In the living room is a wood stove as well as a large flat screen TV. Two sets of patio doors lead out to the deck, one from the living area and the second from the kitchen / dining room. The hub of the main floor, the kitchen, has been beautifully designed for family living and entertaining. The kitchen features granite countertops, a large wet island with sit-up bar, ceramic tile backsplash, naturally finished cherry wood cabinetry and under cabinet lighting, a large apron front sink and stainless appliances. A generous powder room finishes off the main floor.
A completely finished walkout basement features a large bedroom, 4 piece bathroom, laundry room with built in cabinetry, utility room with side walk-up exit to the yard, and a rec-room with patio door walkout.
The home is heated by a geothermal heating / air conditioning system with forced air for heat and AC. There is also cozy in-floor radiant heat, for chilly Fall evenings.

Directions: At the causeway tun left towards Inverness. Travel straight through Inverness. In approx. 15 km turn left on to Shore Road. The house is 3182 Shore Road. When you pass through Chimney Corner, you are getting close. If you get to Whale Cove cottages, you have traveled too far. Turn around - it is very close. The number 3182 is on the garbage bin by the highway. Look up on a hill. It is the highest house on Shore road. The driveway is .66 km up a hill. It is on the left coming from Inverness. There is a house by the road, and an old house and barn - keep going past all that.
When you arrive you will be absolutely stunned by the view! Every window is a picture. You can do an easy walk down to Whale Cove Beach. Walk out on the bluff - waves crashing on the rocks below. Some guests have fished sea bass right across from the house!
One highlight is the world class golf courses in Inverness. Make sure you book your tee times early! There are also a lovely courses in Cheticamp and Baddeck.
If you prefer hiking a "must do" is the Skyline Trail - approx 40km from the house. It is a good 10 km hike. The highlands are beautiful and you might even see a moose or two!
There is great dining from May to October. You must dine at Island Sunset, the Dancing Goat, and the Glenora Distillery. Duck Cove Inn has a wonderful down home Sunday "all you can eat" brunch. These places are all in close vicinity.
There are many opportunities for shopping. Quaint little shops, with quilts, hooked rugs, pottery and many other items all along the Cabot Trail. Make sure you go to the Larchworks outlet in East Margaree.
You can easily drive the Cabot Trail in one day, or take your time. It is absolutely gorgeous. If you haven't done the trail, you need to. The trail is only 5 km from the house. If you are using a GPS, don't miss Cheticamp- many GPS's recommend a shorter route!
One of the main highlights in Cape Breton is the Fall Festival of Colors. There are so many activities - and the fall colors are absolutely breathtaking! It is a great time to do the trail - or drive through Lake Ainsley to Baddeck, or wander down to the Salmon camp in Big Interval.
We have never had disappointed guest, and many say we are the best VRBO they have ever stayed at. Our house is well equipped with spices, condiments, paper towel, toilet paper. Feel free to use anything in the cupboards from canned goods to baking goods. We want your stay to be special, and are here to provide you with a great stay. It is a perfect get away for a family holiday or romantic vacation for two! We can even provide a tour guide for a reasonable rate.
