About the host
Hosted by Lilian Yanniou
Hello dear friends. I am a private school owner who loves traveling and meeting people from around the world. I love my two houses in Laconia Peloponnese and I am sure you will love them too. I will share all the secrets of the area with you!
Why they chose this property
Harakas is a village of unique location and aura. It is ideal as a base for your exploration of the area of Laconia. Far from the touristic places and yet close to every beach, mountain and site you want to visit! The house has kept both the architecture and the decoration of the previous century. However it is fresh and full of light. You will adore the quiet of the afternoons in the village...
What makes this property unique
AMAZING THINGS TO DO AND SEE NEAR HARAKAS!
Where to swim:
The eastern coastline of the Municipality of Monemvasia is scattered with mostly pebbly beaches around Zarakas and Monemvasia, protected from southerly and southwesterly winds.
In the north of the municipality are the beaches of Aghia Kyriaki, Megali Ammos and Drymiskos at Kyparissi, and Vlychada near Riechia.
Close to Gerakas is Kochylas, near Aghios Ioannis are Kastraki and the busy Pori.
Near Molai, Elia and Plytra beaches.
The beach at Monemvasia’s new town is Kakkavos. Swimming is also possible off the rocks at Portelo in the shadow of the Lower Town walls.
Further south are the beaches of Nomia: Ampelakia, Xifias and Aghios Fokas.
KASTANIA CAVE
One of the most impressive caves of Greece can be found near the village of Kastania on the southern tip of the Peloponnese, just minutes away from Neapoli. The route follows the winding mountain road leading to the forest-covered eastern slopes of Mt. Parnon.
HIKING - HINOVOUNI ROUTES
From the beautiful seaside village of Kyparissi, it is hard to imagine that hidden amongst the surrounding cliffs lies a large fir forest on a mountainside offering a number of lovely hikes. The entirety of Mt. Hionovouni comprises a Natura habitat and was once filled with human activities, as evidenced by the many huts and goatfolds and terraced fields, most of them now abandoned. A series of paths, based on the original network, provide an opportunity to enjoy these traces of human endeavour and to enjoy the wonderful landscape. The main route forms part of national hiking path 33 that crosses Hionovouni from the village of Kremasti to Lambokambo.
Other routes branch off to villages in the foothills – the three settlements of Kyparissi and Harakas. All the paths can be combined as desired, beginning and ending at different points, depending on hikers’ interests and abilities.
