About LOU CARRIER
My brothers and I come from a large family who grew up on Cape Cod in Dennis, MA. While we have all moved away from Cape Cod we've maintained close connections to the Cape introducing our families to the very special culture and features the town of Dennis and the Cape have to offer. Together we decided to do something with lasting impact for our families and guests to Worden Hall, a building we had all become very familiar since childhood. Some of us happen to be in the hotel and restaurant business so much of what has been designed at our home was done to higher-end specifications.
Why LOU CARRIER chose South Dennis
The Hall was built in 1865 by the shipbuilders of ye olde, Shiverick Shipyard located just down the road (on the current site of Sesuit Harbor). While the hall has lived many lives and has performed many functions over the years (the town's first Town Hall, the social event space for the town, a part-time church, a lecture hall, library, and art gallery among many other uses) we were committed to establishing a bona fide home and entertainment destination that possessed all the contemporary creature comforts while embracing its history, its location, and the unique stature it commands in the area.
What makes this Estate unique
For family reunions there are few places better. There's not much we didn't consider when renovating/restoring/transforming Worden Hall. Amenities abound. Each bedroom has a 42" HDTV, and it's own private full bath. The Great Room is truly that, GREAT! A spectacular custom bar for 6 with two beverage refrigerators, an ice machine, a 70" HD/3D TV. Dining area seats up to 14. Family Room area features 3 couches and a 70" HDTV. The Mezzanine area of Worden Hall is the game zone with bumper pool table, PacMan game, card table, etc. Their is also our mini Library and a room that is an homage to the US Navy. The kitchen was done to the specifications of a restaurant. All of the artwork displayed in the Hall is original works of the late Donn and Nan Devita, who lived and created art in the Hall for decades. The art was a gift from their daughter to preserve the important impact of these famed Cape Cod artists. The property sits on three beautiful acres with a large field, wooded area, large stone fire pit, stone paver patio and lots of areas to explore including the old Worden Family Cemetery. When preforming the restoration of the building and grounds we needed to restore walls, floors and ceilings and excavate many of the 3 acres of land. What we found in the area never ceased to surprise us. Arrowheads from the Cape's native tribes as well as grinding stones. Old bottles dating to the late 1800's, typewriters, medical scales, binoculars, military uniforms, religious vestments, sewing machines, etc from the first half of the 1900's were uncovered in the attic, under floorboards, and long forgotten hatches. Many of these items are on display in the Hall.
