What makes this house unique

We had thought about buying lake property to enjoy with friends and family. We looked at several properties and kept coming back to this one. We loved the architecture of the house, and our girls loved the property with so much room to run and play. It's magical for them every time we come here.

We had a wonderful time and will likely go back. A few small issues that were handled with grace and courtesy. Jeni is a doll!

Ok house with an amazing view

  • 3 of 5

We were very happy to find this rental directly on the water for our 3 day stay. The house is cute but not as clean as we would have liked. Also, the dock was missing the first section. The view, however was phenomenal. It was such a shame we couldn't enjoy the private beach due to the cold, rainy weather. No control over that. We want to thank the owner for being so kind and accommodating of our extended check-out time. That was very helpful.

Spacious Place to Relax and Get Away + Sea Glass and Sunsets! Lots of space and lots to do!

  • 5 of 5

Sunsets over the lake, relaxing and cooking out on the deck, kayaking in the bay, exploring the peninsula, looking for sea glass - are just a few of the idyllic activities we enjoyed during our week at The Lake House. The house was spacious and well-equipped with everything we could want - life jackets, appliances, dishes, toys, laundry. Having a washer and dryer was wonderful, although they were very slow.

Downstairs, the back bedroom had cozy space for 9 people in bunk beds, the front bedroom had a queen, and the teensy room off the living room has a twin with a trundle. Upstairs in the loft is a queen bed (without a lot of privacy because you go through this bedroom to the upstairs bathroom). Both couches pull out into a bed. Everyone was very happy with the accommodations; there were 9 of us total.

All the decorations were very cute and make the house feel very homey. The open floor plan was very nice and the house had several sections, so you always had somewhere to go. As another review mentioned, some exterior work is needed on the house, but that didn't bother us. We were there for the lake!

I walked the beach every morning and found sea glass every day. The lake bottom is rocky, so bring your water shoes. The water is much higher now than in the photos. The deck does not reach the shore. The kayaks were fun! We had gorgeous weather the first few days of our vacation (the very end of July). The last bit of our trip was cooler and stormy, but we enjoyed the house and the scenery. The beach, lounge chairs, and firepit were all wonderful.

We drove 15 minutes or so to the tip of the peninsula to see the lighthouse which was cool. You can walk up inside the lighthouse and get a great view of Lake Michigan. Everything else is quite far away from this location, but we visited a few things: Pictured Rocks, Kitch-it-i-kipi, Escanaba, and the DeYoung Family Zoo in Wallace which all the teenagers LOVED.

Although there are houses on both sides, the neighbors either weren't home or were pretty quiet. My husband and I walked down to a quaint cemetery at the end of the street.

We loved this rental and are hoping to return! Thank you for a wonderful week Up North!

Great time

  • 4 of 5

Our 3 families spent a week here and enjoyed it. Pros:

-Jeni was great. We had a few minor needs and she responded quickly.

-The house fit 15 people pretty comfortably. I never felt it was too small.

-If you never wanted to leave it would be perfect. The water is great (rocky though) and the property is large enough for many kids to run around and play in the sand.

-The house is stocked full of everything you need.

-It was clean and the price was great.

Cons:

-The location is great on the water but if you are exploring the U.P. it is kind of far from everything. Munising and Marquette are over an hour away and even Rapid River was 20 minutes.

-The two bathrooms are not enough for 3 families since the one bathroom is upstairs near the loft area. But we made it work.

-The inside looked good but the outside needs a paint job.

Overall, we were happy with our stay and enjoyed our beautiful U.P. adventure. Thanks Jeni!

We LOVED the UP Lakehouse!!! <3

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved the UP lakehouse!!! We have 3 children (10, 9 and 6) and they had so much fun. We truly didn't want to leave the lakehouse. :)

Our week had lots of rain on and off, but there was still plenty of fun to be had. Jeni provides a closet full of game, puzzles and toys or there are plenty of tv's so everyone can be watching something. The house has 2 wood burning fireplaces to keep it warm and cozy (we know as we used them (darn weather)) which makes this is a great vacation for anytime of year.

We all enjoyed exploring the beach, kayaking, getting a couple visits from a Bald Eagle, and catching tree frogshere and at the lighthouse just down the road (6 miles).

The house is very clean and well organized. It was so nice to have a washer and dryer all week to keep up on the laundry, so I didn't have a pile of it when I got home! Bonus....Jeni provides the laundry detergent for you!! HInt.... one less thing to pack.

We look forward to staying at the UP Lakehouse many more times. What an incredible place to create so many wonderful family memories!! <3 <3 <3

Give it a try you definately won't regret staying at the lakehouse.

Thank you Jeni for the great experience!
