This home sits on the pathway to the beach, just four rows back from the ocean. It has an open plan living room and dining room, with plenty of space and seating to relax, including a screened-in porch. The home is within walking distance to the Sea Pines Beach Club and also offers one hour of complimentary tennis a day at the famous Harbour Town Racquet Club. Pool access is located at the Harbour Town Club Pool.
The master bedroom offers one king bed. Bedroom two has two king beds, bedroom three has one queen bed and bedroom four also offers two twin beds. All bedrooms in this home offer a private bathroom. The home features three HD flat screen televisions with DVD players.
This property has pool access at the community Harbour Town Swimming Pool. The Harbour Town Swimming Pool will be heated/cooled as necessary to a temperature of approximately 84 degrees from mid-March through mid-November. Please know that maintaining a water temperature of 84 degrees is difficult when the air temperature is below 50 degrees; therefore the water temperature may fluctuate in early spring and late fall.
The largest and best known of the Island’s vacation destinations, this 5,000-acre resort includes the Harbour Town Links of the RBC Heritage fame, as well as Hilton Head’s iconic candy-striped lighthouse. Guided horseback rides with Lawton Stables Equestrian Center take guests into the 605-acre forest preserve, while the bustling marinas at South Beach and Harbour Town offer shopping, dolphin cruises, kayak rentals and sunset dinners. Sea Pines is bordered by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Calibogue Sound, providing miles of unspoiled beachfront access.
We went during Xmas and New Years. Most stuff was open except Xmas day. We were happy when we pulled up to see the house in good shape from the last hurricane (Matthew). No damage on the outside. We had rented bicycles ahead of time from Bicycle Billy's and they were there waiting for us, just as promised. When we went in the house it was clean and appealing. A very large sectional in the living room and nice size TV were perfect for our group of six.
We selected all of our rooms and settled in. The master bedroom seemed to have been worked on, maybe from the hurricane, as there seemed to be drywall dust on bedspread and on the walls of the closet. Not a big deal though. They probably had a leak in the ceiling from the hurricane is what we guessed.
Small annoyance was that there were only 2 washcloths for our master for the whole week. I guess we're supposed to wash our own towels, which we did but having an extra two would've been nice, there were enough bath towels. Having a washer and dryer in the unit was a nice bonus. No detergent was provided, so bring your own HE type. Bring your own toilet paper, too as there were only 2 rolls in our bathroom. Not a big deal though, just check when you arrive so you don't run out before you pick some up! They also provided a small starter bottle of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bar soap.
We ate in the efficient kitchen several times and also every morning for breakfast. The kitchen is well stocked except for a few things. There were more than enough coffee cups, but only one ice tea style glass (plastic, like from Pizza Hut) I would've liked to have had more of those for soda over ice and iced tea. Lots of bourbon type glasses, too small for anything but juice (or bourbon!). Happily, there were lots of plates, bowls and silverware - we indulge in cereal and ice cream and there were plenty for the 6 of us.
The full sized fridge was fairly cold when we got there and made ice pretty quickly. It kept up with our needs, no problem. Only a few dishwashing detergent tabs were provided and we ended up skimping on them for each wash to make it last. I planned to bake cookies one night only to find there wasn't a cookie sheet or a pizza pan. I improvised with one of the many casserole dishes they had. It worked out ok.
Enjoyable short walk to ocean. The house was loud, lots of early morning leaf blowing, ugh and we could hear cars. It must not be insulated well, but we loved our stay and would go back.
First the positives:
Close proximity to the beach, right by walking path
Quiet section of the beach
House has a nice layout for 6 people
The need improvements of the property:
Poorly stock kitchen for simple meal preparation
Microwave top comes off when you open the door and does not spin inside
Stove top has burners that are no usable as they are not flat
Twin beds are not in good shape very uncomfortable
Furniture is very old and faded
For the location and cost I would expect more. Most places I have rented are in far better shape
I will not use Wyndham rentals again. We had asked for an earlier check in if the unit were ready as we had my elderly father in law with us. UpoN arrival we called and we're told that was not a problem and we would receive a call when it was cleaned. No all came. We went by the property and it had been cleaned at 1:00 . We called and we're told a supervisor had to check the cleaning and they would call us. Never happened. We went in at 4:00 when the code was live. I would expect between the cleaning and the supervisor checking to make sure it was properly done I would find the following:
Toilet that does not flush
Several lights that don't work due to blown bulbs
Kitchen pots and pans that are dirty
A dead roach on the floor
A blood spot on a comforter that was unusable
Leftover items on the rug that clearly was not vacuumed well
To me that is unacceptable especially if the supervisor had to approve prior to my being able to get in the unit. They must need glasses and perhaps a checklist would help. I will go back to renting with directly.
