We are a small family owned Cabin and Vacation Rental property in the heart of the Matanuska Valley Moose Range, just outside the town of Palmer Alaska. Our central location in the Matanuska Valley is the perfect location to use as a jumping off point for all your adventures in South Central Alaska. Located just a few miles outside of Palmer, you will find our 35 acre property nestled in the woods at the base of the Arkose ridge in the Talkeetna Range.
Our Cabins, recently featured on HGTV's Living Alaska, are decorated with various Alaska themes, each with its own cozy charm. All cabins have a full kitchen with everything you'll need for meals, full bath (indoor even!) TV, DVD, Phone, extra linens, pillows, blankets and access to onsite laundry facilities and much more. With miles of trails to enjoy and Moose Creek nearby there is plenty to explore right from your porch. A short hike from your cabin steps will bring you to the Arkose Ridge which nears 5000ft in elevation. Moose and their calves frequent the yards of each cabin so keep your cameras ready. You may also have the opportunity to see other neighborhood residents such as Bald Eagles, Fox, Ptarmigan, Grouse, Magpies, Hummingbirds to name just a few.
Our goal will be to provide each of our newest friends with the best and most personalized service Alaska can provide. We provide our guests the option of ordering your favorite drinks, food, snacks, ahead of your arrival and we will have those specific items pre-stocked in your cabin the day of arrival. We don’t want you to spend your valuable time in Alaska shopping or searching for your favorite goodies, so let us do the shopping for you. This service has A small additional fee and the cost of the groceries.
Please do keep us in mind when dreaming about your perfect Alaska Vacation and we look forward to making new friends and your stay at Moose Wallow Cabins as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Nice place in a private setting.
Nice place in a private setting.
This cabin was perfect for a quick holiday getaway from Anchorage! Our family of three + our pup fit perfectly. We can't thank Lisa and Dave enough for their quick response to the couple of questions we had. Moose Wallow has the perfect balance between quiet seclusion and knowing "town" is not too far away if you want to grab a delicious burger. Thanks for a great stay!
Precious cabin in the woods!
Well laid out cabin with separate sleeping areas that provided privacy. The small kitchen had everything we needed. We brought our own food and enjoyed great meals in this quiet, peaceful little cabin. Beds were comfortable, cabin was very clean, plenty of heat and hot water. Host was responsive but not intrusive. We'd love to come back in spring!
It was amazing, and perfect little cabin!
Lisa, the owner, was just so welcoming! Really made us feel at home rather then any other hotel. The cabin was a perfect fit for a family of 4. Will definitely be revisiting again!
hi there, so glad you enjoyed your stay! I hope we have you with us again!
Cool little cabin
Overall it was a nice get away, liked the idea of offering jelly for sale. Could have had a few thicker blankets for the cooler temperatures. No tp, few spots needed cleaned, could have used sugar for the coffee. But a nice place to get away.
Cute Cabin with potential, but not convenient for more than 2 adults, unless they are kids who like the adventure of sleeping in a loft. Nice property and nice having outdoor fire pit. The bedroom was too crowded. A king size bed jammed into small room with one person having to climb over the other to get up during the night. We just slept sideways on the bed with our feet hanging off or slept in a fetal position and made do. There was an envelope on the table for tips for the cabin cleaner. My 1st tip would be try cleaning the bathtub properly before you ask for a tip. We had to locate Clorox cleaning spray and wash the grime out before using... it almost looked like cleaner was in a hurry and dumped dirty water down the drain, it backed up and never returned to see the tub was rinsed out. Downstairs there were sheets and towels dry in the clothes dryer and wet ones still in the washer.... I would hate to be the one to get that set of sheets on my bed, smelling moldy.... our bed sheets were ok. The pots and pans are very jumbled and helter skelter under the cabinet. Other than that the cabin is cute and comfortable. Make some cleaning and sleeping improvements and it will be great. I wish I could have been more complimentary. I dont like to be a complainer. I hope the owners will take my feedback to improve their nice ,little cabin.
Close to everything you can think of! Right here in Palmer we have Hatchers Pass which is only 15 minutes away, where you can hike, pick blueberries, ski, xcountry ski, Snow board and even pan for gold! We also have a Muskox farm with tours, a reindeer Farm and the Matanuska and Knik rivers. In August, Palmer is the home of the Alaska State Fair, where you can immerse yourself in the culture, try delicious foods and ride on amusement park rides! An hour long scenic drive north right off the Glenn highway is the Matanuska Glacier where you can walk on the glacier! 90 minutes in the other direction is Talkeetna and if you're a lucky person, you will catch glimpses of Denali along the way. Anchorage is just an hour south and you can continue for about 80 miles and visit The Wildlife Preserve, portage glacier and much more! Let us know and we will help you book flight seeing tours, zip line, and even dog sledding on a glacier!
