About Bob Rognlien
We are an extended family that stretches back four generations in the Flathead Valley.
Bob Rognlien purchased this Cabin in 1945
Why Bob Rognlien chose Bigfork
Our grandfather bought this property at the close of World War II and built the original cabin, which has been expanded and improved over the years. It is the site of generations of wonderful family memories and traditions. We hope you will make memories and form traditions of your own here.
What makes this Cabin unique
The large deck with plenty of outdoor seating allows you to enjoy the incredible lake views in summer weather. Less than 100 feet away, the beach and dock give full access to enjoy this pristine glacier-cut freshwater lake. The property is located minutes south of the quaint resort town of Bigfork which offers everything you need plus great restaurants, an excellent seasonal playhouse, and one of the top rated golf courses in the country. The Guesthouse offers privacy for a couple or a family of four and the Bunkhouse is designed for children. The cabin is comfortable, but not fancy. It is perfect for families with kids and we will allow well-behaved pets.

A REAL cabin on Flathead
When I was a kid this lake was populated by simple, basic little cabins (the better ones had indoor plumbing) - and it was heaven. Since then Flathead has filled up with giant houses and lawns. To me, this cabin is a perfect lake experience - laid back, unfussy and comfy, with everything you need. (The kitchen is great.) The cabin is rustic, but solid and functional. It sits discreetly in the natural environment, which I love because I don't see the point of spending time in some high maintenance property that looks like it was moved in from the suburbs. I'm trying to get away from the suburbs! You feel close to nature here, and birds and squirrels and deer love to visit. If you are looking for a place where you can get back to basics and enjoy nature, then this is for you.
The Lutheran campers can get pretty noisy, but it's hard to be mad at them because they're happy noises, and it's fun to watch them jumping off the diving platform.
This is one of the first places I've stayed where there wasn't a giant manual of do's and don't's, and I appreciated it! Everything was easy to figure out.
All in all a lovely place. The views are incredible. The lake is glorious. Many thanks to the Rognlien family for sharing!
Great place for a family weekend.
Very comfortable home for a family get-away. Lots of room inside, well stocked kitchen, great access to the water, fire pit and huge deck with lots of seating. We had a great time.
A bit tired and a bit to noisy.
The grounds are over grown and unkempt all though there are new out door furniture the old is still there making the place look trashy. The place needs to be scraped and painted on the outside and the electricity in the bathroom in the guest house doesn't work as well as several outlets in the main house.Carpet stains, tore screen doors and apparent damage from an animal being left in a bathroom. If you are like me these things will make you uncomfortable and the urge to spend the weekend trimming trees, scraping, painting, fixing the damaged ceilings, shampooing carpets ect. The Bible camp next door is in full swing and the 10 pm sing along is more of a shout along. The things I DID appreciate, The kitchen is stocked with a great selection of pots and pans to feed a large group. (There were 7 of us) The dock would be wonderful (if you can handle little kids squealing).
The fire pit is wonderful but again the area needs attention. The 3 full sets of patio furniture (crammed on the patio) is over kill in my opinion. Instructions on how to run the TV would have been handy. The board games were the best part of this property! In the end we were able to spend time with our adult children over a long weekend and that is what we were there to do. This is a lovely area and with a bit of attention I believe it would be a nice place to stay. Best of luck to this family.
Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were not happy staying in our family cabin. We do our best to communicate that it is not fancy, but it is clean and comfortable for most people. That is the reason we have priced it below market value. We are planning a major rennovation of the cabin, which is why we are not painting and doing some of the needed cosmetic improvements. In a couple of years we hope to be able to offer an expanded and improved lake home to share with others.
Excellent location, right on the lake.
Stayed here with a bunch of girlfriends. The cabin was very well supplied with all the amenities and kitchen equipment. There could be some updating with lighting and showers. Enjoyed using the chairs outside on the patio and down by the lake. The extra cabin was a great place for three in the group. We will definitely consider returning again next year. Thank you for a pleasurable stay.
We loved staying on the lake, it was a little chilly and rained most days but still very peaceful. The main house has everything you could need in the kitchen. It is an older place, but it is charming.we very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you!
Close to everything you need, yet very private!
We stayed at the cabin for the 2018 Spartan. Communication was a breeze and the home was as described. We had a great time unplugging and enjoying the deck and lake. We are outside because there was plenty of space for everyone. The fire and the lake was amazing. A return trip to the Flathead Valley is in our future.
The cabin is located on the east shore of Flathead Lake, 1 mile south of the charming resort town of Bigfork which features fine dining, live theater, boutique shopping, and art galleries. Marina Cay in the Bigfork Harbor offers various types of watercraft rentals.
Nearby is the beautiful championship golf course at Eagle Bend with sweeping mountain and lake views from it's 27 holes, 9 of which were designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The stunning peaks of Glacier National Park are only 40 miles north and accessible hiking trails are even closer in the picturesque Jewel Basin which is only 16 miles away.
