Great house. Easy to work with property owner.

  • 4 of 5

Rob, the property owner, is very responsive and easy to work with. This is a very nice, modern, well-kept house. Very comfortable. The kitchen is extremely well-appointed for a rental with basic condiments, spices, tools, and cookware (except there was no cheese grater. LOL) The knives were even sharp! Which is great since we were there for Thanksgiving. The overall layout is good in that it doesn't feel like everyone is on top of one another even when full up. It would be nice to have basic instructions for operating the oven and heating system. Perhaps they are a little too modern for us. Ha ha. We figured it out eventually, but the first two nights those sleeping in the bunk room were quite chilly. Couple minor things to note: 1) You do need to plan to transport all of your trash and recycling to the transfer station a couple miles down the road. Thankfully one of had a truck so it wasn't a big deal. 2) The driveway is STEEP. Like crazy steep. We had a couple cars skid out trying to make it up/down in dry weather. Then it snowed our last night there (So Pretty!!) which meant no one could get their cars (even 4WD) up the driveway to load up and had to carry everything down several flights of stairs. It wasn't too bad. We all pitched in to help each other. But it is something to note if you have bad knees/back or something like that.

Large, modern home with lots of amenities

  • 5 of 5

Our experience with the cabin began before our actual stay. Rob was a pleasure to be in contact with and answered all my questions rapidly. My family and I stayed during Fourth of July weekend of 2016. The home was large enough to hold 6 adults, 5 children and a dog and have enough space for everyone. Bedding, towels and kitchen amenities were included. The pool table and downstairs bedroom with bunk beds was a hit with the kids. The home was a short distance away from Blue Lake Springs Recreation Area and we were able to obtain a guest pass from Rob. The kids enjoyed the pool and play areas at the rec area. The wifi and cable TV helped to keep the kids busy. The home is well maintained. We were able to check-in early and check-out late which was a bonus. The only downside was it was a bit warm during the day without air conditioning but we spent most of the days by the pool at the rec center to combat this. My family and I would definitely return and recommend the cabin to future potential renters.

Too Hot When California Has a Heat Wave in Mid-Summer and the Cabin is not Air-conditioned

  • 2 of 5

Unfortunately, we stayed here when the summer heatwave hit the mountains. The fans were inadequate to cool off the cabin. Outside temperatures never fell below 70 degrees at night and there were no mountain breezes to cool off this cabin. The cabin was decently furnished but there should have been ceiling fans in every room and even the downstair rooms. The Blue Lake Springs Country Club is at the other end of the subdivision and the only enjoyable place there was in the Lake, everything else there is in the full sun all morning and most of the afternoon. If you want to use anything but the lake or pool it costs an extra few dollars to rent ping pong paddles, balls, racquets, etc.

The cabin is on a very steep side of the canyon so after you drive up the steep, steep driveway you have to walk up 28 steps to the front door. I have lived in the mountains for 40 years and have never seen such a poorly designed homesite. Definitely not good for the elderly or small children. My children enjoyed the pool table but there were no other games or activities for them at the cabin not even outdoor play spaces to throw a ball. We could find no instructions on how to use all the fancy electronics there so most of it went unused. The wifi and our cell phones got very good reception so used our own equipment more.

Be sure to bring your own beach towels and recommend you bring some plastic spoons, etc as all of the ones there are oversized and difficult for small people to use.

Great cabin for large family

  • 5 of 5

This cabin had a great deck and spacious great room for large group. Membership to Blue Lake Springs club fun for young kids available and recommended. Close to Big Trees, shopping, Moaning Caverns, river and wineries.

Cabin has a very steep long driveway which is not safe for young children to walk. Lots of steep stairs in cabin between floors. Recommend expandable gates to block stairs from young children.

Our large family enjoyed our stay !

Absolutely beautiful home! The views from the huge living room window was amazing and so serene.

  • 5 of 5

We chose this place for a last minute getaway. We've rented before going by the pictures online, only to be disappointed with the actual conditions and upkeep of the home. With this home, the online pictures do not do it justice!

It was like a new home, extremely clean , even for an OCD person like myself. Which made for a relaxing time for me.

It is tastefully decorated and situated so all your views are of the beautiful tall trees and foliage with no homes in view.

I also was impressed that this home had great internet connection, something that is usually not the case in the area.

They also have many cable programs available for viewing .

The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. The home is large enough to accomadate a large family get together.

We felt tempted to call our kids to come join us with the Grand Kids, due to so much room .

Thankfully we resisted and selfishly enjoyed the tranquility of this lovely home.

I have to mention that it is no exaggeration in regards to the stairs up to the house. What a climb, but well worth it!

I am ready to go back again soon.

Thank You for sharing such a gem

Best second thing we needed after food while on tour. Made lots of memories during the Memorial day weekend. Absolutely comfortable place with all the amenities.

Would love to go back.
