Grab your family or friends (four guests maximum) and head to this quiet secluded retreat just a quarter mile from Spencer Spit State Park. With a convenient location and plenty of space for four guests, the Meadowwood Cottage is the perfect home away from home!
Nestled in the woods and just across from the spectacular State Park, which gives you easy beach access, this home offers a peaceful retreat. It's also just a few miles from Lopez Village with its numerous art galleries, tasty eateries, and much more.
The gorgeous wood-paneled cathedral ceilings and ample windows give this homey escape a lovely airiness! The living room has a comfortable sofa to lounge on while watching a movie on the TV (VCR and tapes included) or you can grab a book from the stockpile, light the wood fire, and read to your wits end. WiFi is even provided for your convenience so you can easily stay connected.
The four kitchen barstools are perfect for quick meals on the go or a sit-down family meal prepared in the well stocked kitchen complete with all the necessities - plus a dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, and more!
Open the sliding glass door to enjoy the beautiful days when the sun pops through or just to listen to the wonderful sound of the rain. You can eat out on the wood deck after grilling up salmon fillets on the barbecue.
Downstairs also has a cozy bedroom, complete with two twin beds and a full bathroom. Climb the stairs to the open wood-floored loft with a queen bed and attached full bathroom. The living room sofa also pulls out into a bed so there's plenty of space for everyone to spread out when you stay here.
Hike through the gorgeous wooded Spencer Spit State Park and find your way to the edge of the island. Kayak and paddleboard rentals can be found just a few miles southwest at Fisherman Bay. Lopez Village is just over three miles away so you can head down for shopping, meeting the locals at Bay Cafe and Cafe La Boheme, or even dessert at the seasonal Holly B's Bakery.
Whether you're strolling along the beach, exploring other islands in the San Juan's, or just relaxing at home, this cottage is the perfect home base for your family or friend vacation!
This large house has a great location adjacent to Lopez Village. You can walk into the town for access to bakery, restaurant, store and bar! The spacious west facing porch is ideal for hanging out and watching sunsets over the water. The house sits on a large lot with no immediate neighboring buildings, so you have lots of privacy and room to spread out. The large kitchen makes it easy to prepare meals for your whole group.
Everything was clean and all the basics were in place. But maintenance on a few things was haphazard, which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. For instance - a wasp nest sandwiched into one of the angled skylight/windows in the upstairs master bedroom inhibited our opening of that window. Rather elaborate sun-shading devices on these windows were a mess with various cords in a tangled mess and shades haphazardly furled/ unfurled. There is a sufficient, but limited amount of water available at any one time due to limitations on the well and pump system. These things had only a slight impact on our enjoyment of the place. I would definitely recommend it for an SJ getaway!
Meadowbrook cabin is a summer tradition now. SO peaceful and cozy. There is a trail to a beautiful beach right in front of the cabin and a trail to Spencer Spit State Park. I like that there is limited wifi-it makes the days longer and more enjoyable. We love cooking in the kitchen and eating meals on the deck. There is a badminton net in the backyard. This cabin is biking distance from the little village (Don't miss Holly's Bakery Gruyere croissants!). You will never want to leave this adorable cabin and island.
I so appreciated the quiet environment and the proximity to wonderful views of the water and other San Juan Islands. We loved seeing the deer on an almost nightly basis. Very relaxing.
This was a very quiet, great place to stay. You can view the water through the trees
