Looking for a cozy cabin in the woods that will be so much fun that you won't want to leave? The Catamount Cabin is for you!

This A-frame cabin sleeps 4 people, in a spacious master bedroom with a queen bed (with new mattress and box spring), and a second bedroom with a double bed. You can start your day with coffee on the deck, overlooking the peaceful beauty of the majestic peaks of the Cimarron and Sneffels mountain ranges. Next, you have 40 acres of land to wander and explore. In winter, you can cross-country ski or showshoe! No matter how you choose to travel, take a picnic lunch and find a beautiful spot to take a break, relax and gaze at the beauty around you. After returning from your walk or hike, you can climb into the hot tub with a glass of wine while dinner is cooking on the grill (both gas and charcoal BBQ's are available for your grilling pleasure). Cooking inside is also great fun with all of the modern amenities like a gas stove, modern stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and an island with butcher block top for prepping or use as a bar. To top it off, there is a cozy wood burning fireplace in the corner of the kitchen, and plenty of space to gather. A jetted tub is available in the upstairs bathroom for a comfortable soak before bed.

No outdoor fires are permitted at any of the Catamount properties per the HOA Bylaws, as a result of the possibility of a forest fire.

We ask that guests please be respectful of the neighbors; ATV's are not permitted to be ridden anywhere but on the road.

The Catamount Cabin has a unique, pull-down staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms. While relaxing in front of the TV in the living room, there is a pellet stove for added warmth. Books and games are plentiful at the cabin as well, for even more fun! WiFi is available for those who love their electronics, or are required to check in with the outside world.

Please note: For winter stays (November 1 to May 1), a 4WD or AWD vehicle is required.

The Catamount Ranch combines the Catamount Cabin (VRBO #704402) and Barn (VRBO #704404) to provide a wonderful setting for your group or family getaway. These two units sit on 40 acres that are available to you for hiking, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing, or just wandering around!

ABOUT THE AREA: You will want to spend several days in beautiful Ouray County. Ouray, which is known as the "Switzerland of America," is nestled in a small valley with 360-degree views of 12,000-14,000 mountains. Ridgway, nicknamed the "Gateway to the San Juans," is just 10 miles from Ouray and is well-known as the place where the John Wayne movie "True Grit" was filmed. Many of the movie set's buildings are still used today by local businesses. These two historic towns offer a variety of activities: restaurants, shops, museums, galleries, hot springs pools, jeep rentals, hiking, fishing and boating -- the list goes on and on! Day trips to Silverton, Telluride and Durango are fun as well.

Ouray is also often called "The Jeeping Capital of the World" because of its many trails through the high country (rated easy to rugged), popular for 2-wheel and 4-wheel off road vehicles.

Golf is available at beautiful Divide Ranch Golf Club located on Log Hill Mesa just above Ridgway, offering panoramic mountain views. Telluride and Montrose also have golf courses.

Ouray and Ridgway both offer local markets, and you can find larger stores like City Market, Safeway, Target and Walmart in Montrose, a flat, easy drive 35 miles from Ouray, 25 miles from Ridgway.

No matter how long you decide to stay, you will find yourself wanting to come back again and again to Ouray County, one of the most beautiful places on earth!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We enjoyed our time at the Catamount Cabin. It was a beautiful location! We loved the mountain views  and private location. It was the perfect size for our family. The hot tub was the perfect ending to every day. We found the cabin very clean when we arrived.

Beautiful, but not clean.

  • 2 of 5

When I arrived the whole cabin was covered in dog hair, including the sheets on the bed. But I washed the sheets one time and all the dog hair came off. If it came off after one washing that means that no one washed the sheets before I arrived. It was pretty gross!

Beautiful, tranquil place to unwind and take in the stunning views

  • 5 of 5

This is truly an extraordinary place with unbelievable views that will take your breath away the moment you arrive. Really comfortable accommodations that are easy to settle into, and a hot tub that just melts away any and all stress. Also loved the pellet stove--really warms up the cabin fast for cozy evenings after the sun goes down. The location also provides an ideal base camp for day trips to Ridgway, Ouray, Telluride and Silverton. Loved it and will definitely be back!

A secluded cabin with a spectacular view

  • 4 of 5

This a a great cabin for a couple or a couple with one or two kids that wants to be away from it all (yet really only 6 min. or so from Ridgway). It's not fancy, but it has all the essentials and much more! There is a fire place, a pellet stove, Dish TV and wireless internet, a hot tub, grill and outdoor seating. I'd say the queen bed needs a new mattress. We saw deer in the yard, a bunny in the garden and multiple chipmunks. It's pretty pricey once all the fees are included with the price, but we truly had a good time.

Killer Views, Very Private and Secluded!!

  • 5 of 5

What an incredible place!! Perched on top of a ridge, you'll not find a better 180 degree view of the surrounding rugged mountains from a great deck and swimsuit-optional hot tub! Kitchen has everything you need. Oh, and the view from your upstairs shower/jet tub is nothing short of remarkable! Comfortable beds full cable TV, and strong Wi-Fi. Perfect for a family of four, but could stretch to 5, as long as the extra is a kid in the day bed in the Master BR, or an adult on the couch downstairs. Bunk beds for the kids, great view from the Master for mom and dad. Book this place without worry!!

So cute and amazing views

  • 4 of 5

Master bed needs a new mattress (it's lumpy) and needs better instructions for Hot Tub. It was clean and super cute. We enjoyed our stay!!
