About John or Jessica Bird

Originally from Southern California, my father was drawn to the incredible beauty of the lake, and knew immediately how special this place truly was. Today it remains with the Bird family and is a place we all come together for special gatherings.

John or Jessica Bird purchased this house in 2004

Why John or Jessica Bird chose Port Angeles

This home has been in my family for more than 10 years and has been the foundation for some wonderful memories! Were excited for you to make some great ones as well with your friends and family!

What makes this house unique

We want you to enjoy the property just like our family does. We provide paddle boards, canoe & paddle boats. You won't find another property like it on the lake. We're on the coveted sunny side of the lake, which enables you to truly enjoy the property during the long summer days. We're on an oversized double lot at lake level. Ample parking on site. No hiking to the property. No hiking down to the dock. We have 1600 sq ft of deck right off the house to spread out, lounge around and enjoy the beauty. A few steps down off the deck & there is about 200 ft of grassy lakefront between our 2 private docks. There's a fire pit to gather around & roast marshmallows. In addition, the community boat launch & dock & picnic area is a few houses away. No need to drive halfway around the lake to launch your boat. And, if you don't have your own boat, we'll put you in contact with someone to rent from. The house itself is an 1810 sq ft one-level ranch home. It's roomy & spacious. You will not feel cramped by small rooms on multiple levels. Almost every room has lake & mountain views that you can take in from bed. The house is tucked away at the end of the community which provides ample privacy. It's ideal for all types of gatherings, whether you're looking for an intimate retreat among friends or somewhere the whole family can enjoy. This property has it all!!!

Wonderful vacation home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Birds Landing on Lake Sutherland. Even though we were there in October and expected some poor weather, we were pleasantly surprised to get a couple of warmer, sunny days. The lake was beautiful and not as cold as expected, and were able to use the canoe and paddle boards. The large deck gave our kids a place to play outside while we barbecued. The inside of the house was clean, and had everything we needed. It was very comfortable and homey, and we really had a wonderful time. We would definitely visit again!

Bird's Landing: Lake Sutherland

  • 4 of 5

The location is superb and the house is well kept and well equipped with use of water items, fishing poles, fire pit, and a great deck on the lake. It was overall, very well done and without hassle or problems. I would highly recommend it

Had a great time at Bird's Landing!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the great weather and the were very happy we had air conditioning as the temperature was on the rise. We spent plenty of daytime in and on the lake and nighttime on the deck stargazing. The one thing that we noticed that could use an update is the stovetop. We'd love to come back again next summer and spend some more time exploring the area.

Wonderful retreat!

Wonderful property with spectacular views! We enjoyed every minute of our time at this property. The guys loved fishing and bringing home dinner from their catch! A great ending to our trip in the Northwest. Much need R & R at Bird's Landing!

Beautiful lakefront getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great visit to Lake Sutherland! The house is literally right on the water, with a huge deck that was great for meals, gathering, or just relaxing in the sun. Loved the big square kitchen table...plenty of room for our group to be comfortable. We even had a deer visit the deck one morning! The paddle boards were especially fun for all. And what a treat to have one beautiful sunset after another. An unforgettable trip!

Amazing lakefront paradise view!

  • 4 of 5

My parents in law, my husband and my toddler spent gorgeous July 6 nights soaking in the sun, breeze and the lakefront scenery at this property. The spacious front deck, living room and the bedrooms all feature this incredible view. An incredible place for peace, rest and relaxation (as well as water fun!) For any yoga enthusiasts, the deck is a perfect place to start and end the day with sunrise and twilight yoga practices.

The hosts were very responsive throughout our stay - they also have a nearby property manager who is available for emergencies. We very appreciated the amenities - the pedal boat and the canoe - which allowed us to enjoy the lake. Neighbors were quiet and respectful. Easy access to many Olympic National park gems, including Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls, Sol Duc, Hurricane Ridge, and the rugged beauty of the Salt Creek Recreational Area and downtown Port Angeles.

The only shortcomings of the property is that the carpet, kitchen appliances and the bathroom are in serious need of upgrade. The appliance is from the early 80's and for a location that primarily depends on on-site meals, having good cooking options would be a plus. We had a broken electric stove burner (which the owners were in prompt process of fixing). The bathroom tubs are old and the showers were loud and had poor pressure. The wood floors were quite dirty when we arrived (which the owners were also prompt in attending to the issue). We heard that some remodeling is in place in the near future - would love to come back to the place in the future, esp with the improvements!
