About John or Jessica Bird

Originally from Southern California, my father was drawn to the incredible beauty of the lake, and knew immediately how special this place truly was. Today it remains with the Bird family and is a place we all come together for special gatherings.

John or Jessica Bird purchased this house in 2004

Why John or Jessica Bird chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

This home has been in my family for more than 10 years and has been the foundation for some wonderful memories! Were excited for you to make some great ones as well with your friends and family!

What makes this house unique

We want you to enjoy the property just like our family does. We provide paddle boards, canoe & paddle boats. You won't find another property like it on the lake. We're on the coveted sunny side of the lake, which enables you to truly enjoy the property during the long summer days. We're on an oversized double lot at lake level. Ample parking on site. No hiking to the property. No hiking down to the dock. We have 1600 sq ft of deck right off the house to spread out, lounge around and enjoy the beauty. A few steps down off the deck & there is about 200 ft of grassy lakefront between our 2 private docks. There's a fire pit to gather around & roast marshmallows. In addition, the community boat launch & dock & picnic area is a few houses away. No need to drive halfway around the lake to launch your boat. And, if you don't have your own boat, we'll put you in contact with someone to rent from. The house itself is an 1810 sq ft one-level ranch home. It's roomy & spacious. You will not feel cramped by small rooms on multiple levels. Almost every room has lake & mountain views that you can take in from bed. The house is tucked away at the end of the community which provides ample privacy. It's ideal for all types of gatherings, whether you're looking for an intimate retreat among friends or somewhere the whole family can enjoy. This property has it all!!!

A Postcard Perfect Home Made for Memories

  • 5 of 5

Birds Landing is by far one of my favorite places. We went over Thanksgiving - just 3 adults so we were living large in this expansive, clean, comfortable, cozy lakehouse.

HomeAway + John and Jessica are wonderful. No problems, pleasant, helpful, informative, talked to me over the phone and via the app. It was so easy... and then I was just blown away when we got to PA. The property, the views, the warmth and amenities of the house, the town...

Coming from AZ, rain is a gift so the chilly rainy weather (not freezing at all) and the green and clouds and the lake -- just a wonderland. I imagine summer is exceptional in PA, but November was no less amazing.

I didn't want to leave.

PS try to find someone to take you crabbing and then bring them to the house to steam. Sit and crack open that crab with melted butter while you watch the best view right outside your window. (Well some ppl watched football but there's lots of options!)

Thank you - so grateful.

peaceful, private home

  • 5 of 5

great home for a women's retreat. Beds are super comfy, nice open kitchen and dining area w. killer view of lake. Loved using the canoe and paddle boards.( I can imagine the deck is superb in the summer time) Very quiet and peaceful at least this time of year. Super comfy couch and large flatscreen, great for watching concerts and videos....would easily stay here again. Oh, head to Lake Crescent for dining or drinks, after you take a long walk through the grounds/moments in time trail.

Fabulous location and so much more.....

  • 5 of 5

What a Fabulous location, with a million-dollar views!! This lovely, well-equipped home easily accommodated 9 people for 3 days. The kitchen was large enough to prepare, enjoy, and clean up meals for our group. We had an issue with the BBQ – emailed the owner, within not even 24 hours Andy was there to replace it. Excellent service! The beds were soft and cozy, and the home itself was immaculate. There are big windows out of each room that look out onto the lake. Definitely a home away from home. Lovely views from all the decks, our 5 kids had the time of there life fishing, swimming, paddling, canoeing all day long. The 2 paddle board, a canoe and a pedal boat are there to use and export the lake. In the evening we huddled around the fire pit and make smores. We truly enjoyed our time in the home and would definitely recommend it. Can't wait to come back! Thank you!

Amazing waterfront!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Bird's Landing. We had 3 small children with us and had a wonderful time swimming, jumping off the dock, fishing, and using the canoe, SUP, and peddle boat. The lake is stunning and the house is directly on the water. It was a great base to explore Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, and the Olympic National Park.

Perfect for family with young kids

  • 5 of 5

The property is in a beautiful and sunny location, neighbors are friendly, and once the boat traffic dies down in early evening it becomes a peaceful escape. Really appreciated the access the owners provide to fishing poles, paddle boards, board games and canoe along with life jackets. It was hot and the AC was a really great. The only wish we had was for a gas grill (forgotten how long charcoal takes to heat up) and that we had planned ahead to rent a boat. The kitchen has all the dishes and utensils needed and overall it was clean and tidy. Lake Crescent is close by, although we never once got in our car during the stay.

Fabulous Lakeside Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

I rented this home for a week on Lake Sutherland almost a year in advance, and I am glad I did. We were a group of six with four adults and two girls aged 12 and 8 and the house was roomy and well appointed. The large deck had plenty of room for sunbathing and the lake was just 20 feet from the door. We had access to paddle boards, a canoe, a paddle boat and two floats to get in and out of the water easily. The lake water is cool but not freezing — it's the perfect environment for swimming and boating. Life vests of all sizes are located in a shed that also contained some fishing gear and extra paddles. The home also features a large and roomy entertainment center with a large flat screen HD TV. The beds were comfy and clean. We also had a handy man who, like the owner, was very responsive to our needs. I can see why this rental is so attractive. Also, the rental is not that far away from Port Angeles and several good restaurants and grocery stores. I highly recommend this property.
