Nice outdoor area
The stay was very plesent. Great location
Lake Vista from every room.
The Casa Eclipse is on a lot set on the slopes above the Lake Patzcuaro. It is very rural and about a block from the paved road on a dead end trail. There is only one neighbor (he speaks English) and he is also very private. The house is a compact two bedrooms with the bath on the second level, with the bedrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped with a toaster oven and a microwave. The coffeemaker is a single serve like a Keurig, so bring some pods you like, they are not available in Mexico. There are mini supers in Tzintzuntzan that carry most essentials and several large supercenter stores in Patzcuaro. Patzcuaro also has good restaurants while the local offerings in Tzintzuntzan are pretty basic; grilled chicken, tacos, etc.
The beds in the house are very comfortable and there is cable TV and a good wi-fi router with strong signal throughout the house and on the giant patio. The patio is great for just kicking back and watching the neighbor's cows and the vari-colored birds. It also has a grill for charcoal (available mesquite, cheap and good).
The road to the house is not paved or well graded but the neighbor said the town will fix it in 2018, with streetlights. If you just take it slow, it is no problem and it keeps the amateurs out.
In summary, it is a relaxing, cool and scenic house to use as a base to explore central Michoacan and experience the rich history of the area. The ruins of the prehispanic Tarascan central governing site overlook the church complex in Tzintzuntzan founded by Bishop Vasco Quiroga, where the olive trees are over 450 years old, oldest in the Americas.
This couple had been traveling through Mexico and enjoying the many sights this wonderful country has to offer. The writer has a gift with words and describes Eclipse house very well.
Home was as advertised , good price for value . Debroahs help was greatly needed and appreciated. Cons, very remote, no coffee maker, drive to home very rough need 4 wheel drive.
It is second time we rented Casa Eclipse. And we could not have been happier, the house was perfectly clean, everything was ready for us and our short vacation.
The owner Joe is fantastic and a goes beyond possible to meet our needs.
Location and views are amazing, I walked the village , enjoyed a couple of hours peace and zen at the monastery and the oldest Olive Garden in the state.
We will definitely be back and I almost hate recommending this house to others because it might not now be available on the dates we want it.
exactly what we needed
location is great, view is lovely, property is fenced, it was exactly what we were looking for. Joe is a wonderful host and very accommodating, pleasure to deal with. we are going back for a longer stay.
Patzcuaro is a year-round destination for many visitors from around the world. The town preserves its past, with its early colonial flavor. Attractions include its 4 plaza, all within walking distance of each other. Frequent ferries to the famed island of Janitzio. Pre-Columbian archeological sites throughout the region, with Ihuatzio and Tzintsuntzan nearby. Towns around the lake specializing in different crafts: wood, pottery, copper, textiles, and many other crafts. Nearby Lake Zirahuen offers lake activities, including camping and boating. An hour away is Uruapan, in the heart of avocado country that boasts renowned Jose Ruiz National Park, with natural springs gushing from the canyon walls forming a strong rushing river. The many springs are channeled into fountains and other water spectacular water displays. Not to be missed. Driving farther South to the pacific Coast takes you to the resorts of Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. A place to relax and dine at the beach.
