Charming cottage in lovely setting.
We went to the Red Mountain Cottage in Patagonia for a restful 3 night getaway. The cottage was so nice and Cynie and Joel’s hospitality was great. The large walled yard was greatly enjoyed by our dog and by us. The decor of the house was Southwestern and authentic. We want to go back and rest some more. It was the absolutely right setting for R&R and Patagonia itself is a great town and full of friendly people.
Quiet Cottage in a Mesquite Grove with Large Enclosed Yard
We loved our stay at Red Mountain Cottage. It’s just a mile from the charming artists’ community of Patagonia, yet feels private and off the beaten path. The charming adobe home is quiet, cool and well-equipped. We especially enjoyed sitting on the covered front porch and watching the hummingbirds and a summer rain. We also spent many hours reading in the cool shade under a lovely old mesquite tree. Cynie and Joel are perfect hosts. Thank you for being dog friendly! We’ll be back.
Perfect Desert Oasis
It was perfect! The house is lovely and close to town. We look forward to staying again and getting to know the town of Patagonia better!! Thanks Cynie
Thank You, Colette !!
We look forward to your next visit!
Clean, cute bungalow with attentive, friendly owners
Property is a cute bungalow on a nice sized, walled property with a lovely front patio that allows great viewing of hummingbirds and other bird species. The furniture is older but very comfortable and adequate. We came with two teenage girls and our three dogs and appreciated them letting us bring our "pack". The owners live in the house next door and were very friendly and helpful with whatever we needed, without being at all intrusive. The location is great and the area is quiet with very easy access to town. Though older, the house is well stocked and very clean. I deducted a star due to a couple of reasons: 1.You have to pass through the only bathroom to get to the back bedroom which was very awkward for us with my teenage daughter and her friend along. 2. The front bedroom is not air conditioned and was very warm for the girls. 3. It was quite rainy and the house was filled with flying bugs, so much so that the second night we had to get out the vacuum to suck them off the ceiling in our bedroom, where at least 60 bugs (mostly small gnats) were congregated above the lamp. We couldn't go to sleep knowing that many bugs were flying around the room. We never opened windows due to the heat and humidity, so I assume they come in the front door. I know it is hard to control bugs, but I've never seen anything like that before. There were also TONS of ants in the yard including lots of red ants that crawled on us even while sitting on the front porch trying to relax. I got several nasty bites while outside playing with the dogs. It just made it a bit uncomfortable and difficult to relax both inside and outside. 4.While the yard is huge and could be amazing for the dogs, it is all dirt and due to the rain, the dogs were constantly muddy and I spent a lot of time cleaning them to keep the house from getting filthy. 5. The yard is not snake proof and despite them telling me they don't get snakes we had a rattlesnake in the yard the first morning, and one dog had a very close call. Thankfully the other two dogs are trained and barked to alert me and I managed to grab the third one literally just in time. The owners were apologetic and he came over right away to get rid of the snake, but I was nervous the rest of the weekend and was not comfortable leaving the dogs out alone after that. Overall we enjoyed our stay but due to the weather and some issues with the property, it was not quite as relaxing as we hoped.
The cottage was very comfortable and the yard for our dogs totally fenced. They want is happy as well or with the place short walk or drive to downtown Patagonia 10 miles away to the wineries of Sonoita, hiking, lakes. Owners were warm and helpful. We will go again
Pleasant place to stay in Patagonia
If you are planning to stay in Patagonia, this is an excellent choice. Cynic is easy to communicate with, her cottage is clean, comfortable and true to her description.
Quiet and secluded, the cottage is nestled at the base of Red Mountain and offers expansive views of tree studded mesas and magnificent mountain ranges. Wildlife and birds abound, including Roadrunners, Hawks, Gambel's Quail and many species of hummingbirds. You can visit the nearby world known Tucson Audubon's Patton Center for Hummingbirds.
At night, the clear dessert sky offers one of Arizona's best shows of stars, planets and constellations.
Explore nearby historic ghost towns, missions and the scenic San Rafael Valley.
Patagonia Lake is just minutes away.
