About Brenda K. Ellison

Hello, my name is Brenda and my husband’s name is Mike. Welcome to Peaceful Properties--Your choice for a green and serene stay. My husband and I are retired Army officers serving for 24 and 30 years respectively. We both love this area and plan to make it our permanent home in the near future. There is no other place in the area that has the benefits of viewing both mountain ranges; the Massanutten on the west and the Shenandoah on the east with the South Fork of the beautiful and peaceful Shenandoah River running between these green mountains. An awesome sight when you see eagles or osprey flying high, deer and turkeys running through the woods, and an occasional bear to remind you that you are in Page County and the Luray area. We hope you enjoy your stay at Peaceful Properties. It is a magnificently beautiful area especially on a clear night with the stars you cannot see nearer the cities.

Brenda K. Ellison purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Brenda K. Ellison chose Rileyville

This is by far our favorite setting of our three Peaceful Properties homes. It is all about country living--getting away from the busy city, experiencing the sounds of nature, and relaxing.

What makes this cabin unique

If one could fall in love with an inanimate object, it would be this property. In 2003 we moved from Virginia to San Antonio, TX, where my husband and I were transferred in the Army. On weekends back to this area, we would drive around exploring the area. On one of those weekends, we saw a home for sale sign. As we traveled down the gravel road before the creek, we saw this quaint older cabin on over 3 acres of land. My husband traveled back the next weekend, toured the home and property, and then purchased it that weekend plus the surrounding acres. It has beautiful wood floors, the architecture of an historic cabin, and the comforts of a modern home. Everything in the home conveyed as well as the little cabin out back, which has not yet been finished. The only sounds you hear while sitting on the front porch are birds, livestock (a few), and trains. You can actually see the engineer in the train as it passes over the trestle 100 yards behind the home.

Notes:
If you want to getaway to a secluded and quiet area, this is your best choice. There are trains which pass near the property. If you don't like train noises, this is not the place for you. However, they are not as loud as you may think. If you like train noises and like waving to the engineers, then don't pass this up. There is no other property like this around.

Great Little Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've stayed at this location and we absolutely love it. The cabin had everything we needed, from a fully equipped kitchen, to a firepit with a pile of wood and a hot tub around back. We were celebrating our anniversary and Brenda even left a bottle of champagne for us! Cant wait to go back next year!

Quaint, quiet, everything as advertised!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is clean and cozy. Plenty of land to let your dogs run. There is a train track nearby, but in 3 days we only heard two short trains go by. We were celebrating our Anniversary and appreciated the personal touches from Brenda, and our dogs loved the dog treats. Would definitely recommend for anyone trying to get away for some peaceful relaxation.

An Absolutely Awesome, Peaceful Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Brenda & Mike for sharing your beautiful cabin at Green Valley Junction. We've rented a dozen plus VRBO rentals and yours is our new favorite. Your cabin came with unexpected extras (linens, towel, kleenex, hand & dish soap, firewood, etc) that other VRBOs just don't provide. It was a perfect place to relax; a large, scenic property. We spent mornings hiking on Skyline Drive and afternoons cycling Paige County back roads. We found the trains passing at night soothing. We'll be back! Thanks again...

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very thoughtful review. I appreciate your comments about the additional amenities we provide. I just thought these were standard for a stay that I would want. Every detail I can think of from tissues to fire wood to nice linens is provided. The train sounds remind me of my childhood and it's really, really cool when they pass and you're sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows for your S'mores. I have three generations of railroad workers on my father's side. I always say that my great-grandfather lost his life, my grandfather lost his eye, and my father lost his job. Seriously, I realize this post is not about me but this property IS about me and everything about it. I am so grateful of my guests who appreciate what we provide. Thank you for staying and we hope you return to wave at the conductors. Who knows how long they will be driving their trains. Peaceful Properties...Green...Serene.

recommend!

  • 4 of 5

The owners went the extra mile—water and s’mores fixings in the fridge, nicely prepared firewood for the fire pit—even treats for our pup! The property is secluded and we enjoyed walking around. Even went up the hill to walk the pup around the community center grounds. The train is close (and loud) so if that might bother you stay away. We didn’t mind it a bit. Clean place and comfortable stay. Close to all the things we wanted—the town of Luray and the caverns and hiking the trails in the Shenandoah National Park. Definitely recommend!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Trains are not frequent and the whistle is louder when trains are traveling from the north as the crossing is just beyond the property. I do not want to give the guests the impression that the train is in the backyard. If you like to hear the rumble and train sounds, do not stay away. Please review other guests' comments. This is truly a secluded place and of all the properties this is my favorite. Green Valley Junction is still Green...Serene.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to Green Valley Junction and it was just as good as the first two times. We love the space it provides for our two dogs to run (even though they don't venture far) and the cabin is just right for relaxing in the evening with drinks on the porch or watching a movie on the big screen. We will definitely be going back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your return stays. It was awesome to run into you at Baby Moons and enjoy the dogs and sliders. We now have a brick sidewalk leading from the back door to the hot tub area. Once we get some time we will put up the pingpong table on the new vinyl floor on the porch. So, we are making good progress on our favorite property. Thanks again for your choice to return to Green Valley Junction. I am pleased to see that Jackson and Cheyenne are enjoying themselves in the humongous yard. Green Valley Junction is one of three unique homes of Peaceful Properties...Green...Serene.

Beautiful country cabin

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a long weekend for our 10th anniversary at this perfect cabin in the woods. It had everything we needed but cell service, but who needs that when there is WiFi and a house phone anyway. You will enjoy the peace and quiet of this property. Thank you Brenda & Mike for the extra touches.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Tina and Pat, for your wonderful review and your decision to celebrate your 10th at Green Valley Junction. Yep, no cell service unless you have Sprint and then it's spotty in this green valley. Never fear, there is Wifi and free local and long distance calling. So your loved ones can still get a hold of you and vice versa. Thanks for staying and being a fantastic guest. Hope you can return. Peaceful Properties...Green...Serene.
