About Brenda K. Ellison

Hello, my name is Brenda and my husband’s name is Mike. Welcome to Peaceful Properties--Your choice for a green and serene stay. My husband and I are retired Army officers serving for 24 and 30 years respectively. We both love this area and plan to make it our permanent home in the near future. There is no other place in the area that has the benefits of viewing both mountain ranges; the Massanutten on the west and the Shenandoah on the east with the South Fork of the beautiful and peaceful Shenandoah River running between these green mountains. An awesome sight when you see eagles or osprey flying high, deer and turkeys running through the woods, and an occasional bear to remind you that you are in Page County and the Luray area. We hope you enjoy your stay at Peaceful Properties. It is a magnificently beautiful area especially on a clear night with the stars you cannot see nearer the cities.

Brenda K. Ellison purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Brenda K. Ellison chose Shenandoah Valley

This is by far our favorite setting of our three Peaceful Properties homes. It is all about country living--getting away from the busy city, experiencing the sounds of nature, and relaxing.

What makes this cabin unique

If one could fall in love with an inanimate object, it would be this property. In 2003 we moved from Virginia to San Antonio, TX, where my husband and I were transferred in the Army. On weekends back to this area, we would drive around exploring the area. On one of those weekends, we saw a home for sale sign. As we traveled down the gravel road before the creek, we saw this quaint older cabin on over 3 acres of land. My husband traveled back the next weekend, toured, the home, and purchased it that weekend plus the surrounding acres. It has beautiful wood floors, the architecture of an historic cabin, and the comforts of a modern home. Everything in the home conveyed as well as the little cabin out back, which has not yet been finished. The only sounds you hear while sitting on the front porch are birds, livestock (a few), and trains. You can actually see the engineer in the train as it passes over the trestle 100 yards behind the home.

Notes:
If you want to getaway to a secluded and quiet area, this is your best choice. There are trains which pass near the property. If you don't like train noises, this is not the place for you. However, they are not as loud as you may think. If you like train noises and like waving to the engineers, then don't pass this up. There is no other property like this around.

Enjoyed our Stay

  • 4 of 5

This was a quiet little cabin in the woods. My wife and I stayed here for our first anniversary and it was pretty good. There were a few bugs in the cabin and the hot tub was not attached to the house (it's about 20 yards away and up a flight of stairs), but other than that it was great! The king bed was very comfortable and the kitchen appliances were very nice. Brenda was very welcoming as a host and even left us a bottle of wine since we were celebrating our anniversary. The hot tub was very relaxing! Remember to bring plastic drink ware since glass is not allowed in the hot tub and the house doesn't have any plastic cups. Also, this cabin is on a curvy single-lane dirt road so if you have a truck or vehicle better suited for off-road, it would be better to bring that.

Thanks for a great weekend!

Owner's Response: Thank you for reviewing your stay at Green Valley Junction. I am thrilled you enjoyed the train. Makes my heart happy being the child, grandchild, and great-grandchild of railroad workers. I hope you can return to wave at the conductors as the traverse the trestle above. Thanks again, Peaceful Properties...Green...Serene.

lovely getaway

  • 4 of 5

We spent a lovely few days at this isolated cabin. Our kids especially loved the hot tub and enjoyed waiting for the train to go by! The train is actually a wonderful attraction for the kids. The location of this cabin is great - easy ride to Shenandoah, Luray, and rafting down the Shenandoah river!

Owner's Response: Sounds like you had a wonderful time at Green Valley Junction. This location is ideal for children 8 and up and conveniently located near Luray. Although an older cabin, this property has all the modern amenities, a hot tub, very comfortable bedding, and a well-stocked kitchen. It is next on our list for renovation; Peaceful River and Brown Bear Retreat have been recently renovated. Thanks for staying at Green Valley Junction. Green...Serene.

If you want to escape from the everyday hustle and bustle this is the place. We loved everything about this cabin. The hot tub was our favorite and we felt so relaxed here. We definitely will come back.

Owner's Response: Thank you most kindly for your review. This is indeed the perfect place to unwind and getaway. Grab your food, books, music, and/or special bottle of wine. Between sitting on the porch, relaxing in the hot tub, listening to the wildlife, walking in the woods, or hearing the sound of Nelson Run as it ripples over the rocks nearby, one cannot resist relaxing. Thank you for staying at Green Valley Junction, one of three unique homes of Peaceful Properties...Green...Serene.

Great weekend at a peaceful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Brenda's cabin from January 19 until January 22. It was peaceful, quiet and a very clean place with lots of space. It is dog friendly, so they loved the big backyard. The hot tub was amazing and relaxing and just what we needed on nice, cold days. Lots to do around the area... went to Luray Caverns and some local wineries, all within a 30 minute to hour drive. The cabin itself was peaceful and clean... a big television and you can bring your own food to cook or movies to watch. Overall, it was a great experience, with a nice, relaxing weekend. We will definitely be coming back and I would recommend it highly. We will be back! Thanks Brenda!

Owner's Response: Thank you most kindly for your review. You were wonderful guests and I look forward to having you return at any of the three Peaceful Properties unique and special homes. This is a secluded and naturally beautiful property. Although on the rustic side we have made many improvements inside and outside the cabin. Located on 3.5 acres next to a train viaduct, it has its own serene feeling. Thanks again for staying at Green Valley Junction, only 8 miles from Luray. Green...Serene.

Great secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was cute and very secluded. We're used to being out in the country but this place definitely made you feel like no one was around you for miles even though there are houses down the street but still very secluded. Property was cozy, clean, and comfy. The owners were very accommadating even gave us firewood and s'mores. The train didn't bother us at all. The owner was very accommodating and quickly responded to any questions we had. Luray caverns was about 20min drive. We definitely enjoyed our stay.
