About Brenda K. Ellison

Hello, my name is Brenda and my husband’s name is Mike. Welcome to Peaceful Properties--Your choice for a green and serene stay. My husband and I are retired Army officers serving for 24 and 30 years respectively. We both love this area and plan to make it our permanent home in the near future. There is no other place in the area that has the benefits of viewing both mountain ranges; the Massanutten on the west and the Shenandoah on the east with the South Fork of the beautiful and peaceful Shenandoah River running between these green mountains. An awesome sight when you see eagles or osprey flying high, deer and turkeys running through the woods, and an occasional bear to remind you that you are in Page County and the Luray area. We hope you enjoy your stay at Peaceful Properties. It is a magnificently beautiful area especially on a clear night with the stars you cannot see nearer the cities.

Brenda K. Ellison purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Brenda K. Ellison chose Shenandoah Valley

This is by far our favorite setting of our three Peaceful Properties homes. It is all about country living--getting away from the busy city, experiencing the sounds of nature, and relaxing.

What makes this cabin unique

If one could fall in love with an inanimate object, it would be this property. In 2003 we moved from Virginia to San Antonio, TX, where my husband and I were transferred in the Army. On weekends back to this area, we would drive around exploring the area. On one of those weekends, we saw a home for sale sign. As we traveled down the gravel road before the creek, we saw this quaint older cabin on over 3 acres of land. My husband traveled back the next weekend, toured, the home, and purchased it that weekend plus the surrounding acres. It has beautiful wood floors, the architecture of an historic cabin, and the comforts of a modern home. Everything in the home conveyed as well as the little cabin out back, which has not yet been finished. The only sounds you hear while sitting on the front porch are birds, livestock (a few), and trains. You can actually see the engineer in the train as it passes over the trestle 100 yards behind the home.

The Cabin was AWESOME....very clean, quiet, very private...

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay in the cabin....It was very private....The hot tub was a perfect way to end a great day..The scenery was not very good but still a beautiful place..The cabin is a little ways from everything..You will have to drive if you want to do anything, so plan your trip wisely...Mrs Brenda is a WONDERFUL Hostess and has all you need in the cabin to make you feel at home.

Green Valley Junction

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this property. I was especially impressed with the quality of the kitchen supplies. (We couldn't find a grill brush to thoroughly clean the grill.) The train was a little annoying at 6:20 in the morning when they blew the whistle for the crossing. However, I do live near a train and every time I hear it, it brings back the memories of vacation! The hot tub was great. It would have been nice if the game table was functioning, since there wasn't much to do in the evening. I would recommend this cabin to my friends.

Great place. Clean, peaceful, country quiet and modern amenities. Deer and groundhogs aplenty. Excellent communications with owner. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Future guests who consider this home should note that the photos do not accurately depict this property. Although they are professionally done, this property is on 3.5 acres with 12 acres adjoining on a private road with a creek flowing through. Several of my guests have taken their morning coffee or tea down by the creek to hear the ripples over the stones and rocks. One guest saw bear eating pears across the creek. This is an older cabin with modern amenities. Very cute, huge TV, wifi, and in a beautiful green setting. Thanks so much for staying at Green Valley Junction and we hope you return. Great weekend for quiet and privacy

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for the use of your wonderful cabin. My husband and I enjoyed a nice peaceful weekend in Green Valley Junction. Privacy and relaxation were important and that's what we got. We enjoyed the fire pit, sitting on the large and comfortable porch with fans and lights, hot tub in the interesting screened building, and the comfy bed ensured a good night's sleep. Brenda was easy to work with and was very responsive. The house felt like a home and was clean and neat. You don't see any neighbors, and the train only rolled through 3 times over 2 days. We watched very little tv because we were outside most of the time, but it was on a nice big screen when we did. Hard line phone was good to have since cell phone dead spot all around that area. We enjoyed ourselves, but it went so quick - just got into the battle rhythm and it was time to return to the "real world". We recommend this rental and the owners. Thanks again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I would like to elaborate on these great guests. They were much too modest. While I was leaving this cabin after a blinding downpour, I noticed several emergency vehicles on the corner of Rileyville Road and Route 340. I saw a white vehicle that had punched through the guardrail and over the embankment narrowly missing a concrete piling and the next ravine into the creek. Later I met up with my husband at this cabin to close it up and leave. Around 5:30 as we were leaving a towing van arrived carrying five passengers, my guests. It was their car in the ravine. After a short emergency room visit, they were all safe and uninjured thanks to God's mercy. However, no car, no luggage, and no food....and no water. It is a sauna now after this torrential downpour. The van driver could not take her to the vehicle, so we took her to the wreck yard where we found their car unsecured with all of their belongings in it. We loaded up the back of our 4-Runner with all of their food, equipment, and luggage. All of this barely fit as they brought their own cooking gear for Hallal cooking. We helped them unload everything. I mistakenly extended my hand to the husband who graciously did not accept, although I am the owner of this business. I asked my husband to shake his hand while I conversed with the woman. I asked if I could give her a hug and expressed how grateful I was that she and her family were safe and uninjured. I then gave her information for the rental car company and showed her how to use the phone. They ended up booking one more night due to the delay in the unanticipated start to their family getaway. This family was lovely and may God bless them again with continued safety and love. Thank you for staying at Green Valley Junction. Green...Serene.

Cozy cabin getaway in a beautiful spot.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin is authentic and cozy with nice comfortable beds and furnishings. And the property is beautiful and secluded if you want to get away from things, with a huge yard with a creek. And the cabin has lots of amenities for a fun time -- firepit, gas and charcoal grills, hot tub, nice porch rocking chairs and porch swing. The owners were very friendly and helpful and even left firewood and kindling ready to use in the firepit, plus great oatmeal cookies and fixings for smores. We all had a great time. And it's really close to lots of great things to do -- Shenandoah River and Shenandoah Natl Park.

Notes:
If you want to getaway to a secluded and quiet area, this is your best choice. There are trains which pass near the property. If you don't like train noises, this is not the place for you. However, they are not as loud as you may think. If you like train noises and like waving to the engineers, then don't pass this up. There is no other property like this around.
