We had a great stay. The location is very convenient to App State as we were there for family day weekend. The property is exactly as described and the owner's communication was perfect. My daughter was also thrilled when she saw the fall decor and halloween candy in every room, thanks for that touch Gwen!

Buyer BEWARE!!
We intentionally booked a cabin w/a hot tub. Arrived to find hot tub not working. Waited for owner to do the right thing and offer partial refund. Never did - once I asked they replied rudely.
The dishwasher was not working. We did a lot of cooking therefore we spent a lot of time handwashing dishes with inadequate supplies. It was an annoyance - would have expected a partial refund for this also.
Coin-operated washing machine?? Seriously? Nowhere in the description does it tell you to bring a roll of quarters IF you need to do laundry - ridiculous/chintzy.
Our hope/expectation was that the host would do the
RIGHT thing and offer a partial refund – so we chose to not complain until our last night. We also feared that a rude owner could just tell us to leave for complaining.
The owner accused us of leaving stains in the carpets. We left the cabin in very good condition. I was on my hands and knees in each room looking for left items. There were no stains left by our pets. We have detailed pictures of each room. Good luck getting a reply from VRBO - NO HELP at all. - - There were some positives about the cabin -- the negatives are the focus because of how the owner responded.
This cozy house was a perfect fit for a family of five and two dogs. Two bedrooms and one full bath were upstairs -one bedroom with a full bed for our 15 year old and the other bedroom had two twins for our 6 and 4 year olds. Master bedroom and bath were downstairs. The closets were full of blankets, pillows, games, baby gates, basically anything extra. The kitchen was well stocked with food, snacks, alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and spices for cooking.
When first entering the house the warm welcoming was wonderful with the Christmas lights on, Christmas music playing and a bottle of wine on the master bed. So cute! Location was also amazing! It’s located down the road from App. Ski mountain- you could walk there. Where there is ice skating and skiing. It’s in a one way circle which was perfect for walking the dogs. The Tweetsie railroad is 10 minutes away and is basically in the backyard. We enjoyed watching (we could see it since there were no leaves on the trees) and listening to it while we enjoyed our bonfire and smore’s. We also enjoyed sledding at Hawksnest which was about a 40 minute drive. Blowing rock and Boone are also very close for shopping and dining. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family. Thank you for letting us stay at your adorable cabin!
This was our second time staying at Whistle Stop and it was just as enjoyable as the first! We booked this so we could go to Tweetsie Railroad's Ghost Train and we absolutely LOVED being able to hear that train whistle and the spooky happenings at Fort Boone right down the mountain! The host was very welcoming and helpful even while dealing with their own family crisis.
I will definitely be coming back to this rental. The amenities were clean, well cared for and well stocked. So many extras and added touches to make it comfortable. Thank you!
The cabin is beautifully kept. The owners have gone above and beyond with making sure that anything that you could need being available. Would recommend this rental to anyone!! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cabin. Will definitely recommend to others .
We loved the house, our stay, the beds were so comfortable, everything was very clean. The only issue was the one way, extension circle past the house to get out of the neighborhood to get up to the mountain. The main road from App is cleared, fine to drive on. There is a circle you have to go around because of a one way that gets iced and is not plowed or sanded. We slid and the car ended up in a small ditch that we had to get a tow truck for. I would recommend this house to everyone, but warn them to only use the straight one way back and forth to the App ski mountain and stay away from the tight circle turns that are covered in ice at times.
You can hear the whistle from the Tweensie at the house!
The Whistle Stop is an adorable 3 bedroom 2 bath house. The house was spotless when we arrived. Plenty of supplies on hand in the kitchen and bathrooms. Very comfortable beds.
The house is conveniently located between Blowing Rock and Boone.
Lots of great hiking nearby. The Appalachian Ski Center was perfect for a day of snowboarding.
The home was very cozy. The property is in a good location, close to downtown Blowing Rock.
Great downtown area. We enjoyed the hot tub and the firepit.
The cabin was simply adorable on the mountain side, close to the picture perfect town of Blowing Rock. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The road to the cabin was a bit tricky to navigate. Everything was spotlessly clean and I felt very comfortable, comfy bed, nice luxurious linens, fully stocked kitchen. It would be helpful if some of the cabinets and closet space had more room to put our things in, especially in the bathrooms. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
We had a lovely stay. The house was cozy and immaculate, with so many special touches. There was even a station with masks and hand sanitizer, etc., which was very welcome in the current context. We loved the back yard and the fire pit and grill. It’s a bit of a challenge getting back to the house on the gravel road, but the environment is relaxing and wonderful once you’re there. We even saw a gorgeous black bear. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our stay at Whistle Stop. Location of the house was great-quick drive to shops & restaurants in Boone & Blowing Rock. Blue moon ice cream at Kilwins in downtown Blowing Rock is delicious. Zip lining at Hawk’s Nest in Seven Devils was a wonderful adventure & we enjoyed a kayak tour on the New River. The house was cozy, clean, & comfortable with lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy such as the front porch, back deck, & backyard with fire pit.
Our family of five had a wonderful mountain vacation in this beautiful cabin in a peaceful neighborhood close to Blowing Rock and Boone. The Whistle Stop cabin was immaculate and well equipped. The owner was very responsive and helpful. We hope to return in the future!
