This quaint stone cottage is perfect for a tranquil and relaxing holiday. Its stone walls and fireplace, wooden floors and exposed beams will take you back in time. Equipped with modern facilities (dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, electric heating), you will be charmed by its warm, French atmosphere. A lovely, quiet, and private garden awaits ideal for barbecues and alfresco dining. Please note Stigny has no shops however we are ten minutes from Ancy le franc that has all amenaties super market,post office, bank restaurant and a beautiful chateau. There is plentyto see and do in the region Chablis for winetasting, Abbey de Fontenay,Noyers lovely medieval village, For the active we are close to the burgundy canal the village is surrounded by beautiful forest ideal for randoneers.

Peace and tranqility in the French country-side

A lovely Gite with plenty of room for a family of four (best if you are not too tall though as some doorways are 3/4 size). Easy driving distance to surrounding points of attraction including scenic local villages and great vineyards ie the town of Chablis. If you like doing your own cooking as we did, there are fabulous local markets and fresh produce vendors giving access to everything required to whip up your own provincial french feast. We visited in late May when all the fields were a sea of yellow and green from the wheat and rapeseed crops. An area I would definitely go back to and this is a beautiful little cottage to use as the 'home away from home'.

Gîte conforme au descriptif simple, rustique avec ce qui est nécessaire. Village très calme. Extérieur agréable. Karen est une hôte très chaleureuse et arrangeante. Nous avons passé un excellent week-end à refaire sans hésiter !

Very accommodating hosts, tranquil and good location

This was an authentic feeling , well appointed small Gite, with plenty of character and its own private outdoor garden space. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating and we had a very pleasant few days, exploring the local area.

met 4 volwassenen een beetje krap

De foto is genomen aan de achterkant van het huis en is daardoor misleidend. Het huis is authentiek wat tot gevolg heeft dat de deuren allemaal laag zijn. Je moet er als volwassene met een normale lengte dus bukken. Niet erg maar wel goed om te weten. Verder een fijne plek om te verblijven.

We falled in loved with this place and its owner! Very quite and cute! This is right place to go If you want to have peacefull holidays with long walk, enjoying delightfull landscapes, reading and reflections. Cozy cottage in a country-side France

We greatly enjoyed our stay in La Poterne Gite in Stigny, Burgundy. Our hostess (Karen) was very friendly and helpful. The house is very comfortable and clean. It includes all necessary amenities which made self-catering very easy and not time-consuming at all. The house is very old, but in perfect condition, it wonderfully conveys the atmosphere of the country-side. The house has a completely private garden and is located in a quiet and picturesque village. The neighbors are very friendly, but except for the hosts, nobody speaks English not a little bit, bear that in mind. The village is surrounded by forest and fields, which are perfectly suited for walking. It easily reached by car, and parking is abundant. We recommend the La Poterne to anybody who seeks to enjoy the quite magic of rural France and escape the buzz of big cities.

Born in Zimbabwe haved lived in UK, Australia and now settled in France with my husband Clive and daughter Joanna. We live in Stigny permanently. This village and its people have made us so welcome.

La Poterne is a perfect base for all that Burgundy has to offer. The village is typical rural village no shops but all you need in the beautiful chateau village of Ancy le Franc 10 mins away.
