About the property

Condo, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Quiet, secluded, yet only a stone's throw from the beach and the crystal blue waters of the Pacific. Our ocean view studio condo is a very well appointed vacation unit for a single or couple, and still one of the best values on Kaua'i.

On the top (third) floor of the Prince Kuhio Resort in Po'ipu guests have a 180 degree view from the mountains to the ocean. In the morning the sunrise greets you with the gentle trade winds and the scents of the tropics. At night the romantic moonlight rises over your lanai.

You will find a fully equiped kitchen, shower with compact bath tub, separate dressing room, free wifi internet, and many other amenities to make your stay fully enjoyable. An on site resident manager can help answer your questions.

The beautifully landscaped grounds feature a secluded swimming pool, koi ponds, gas and charcoal bbq, and much more. E komo mai (welcome).

Fine dining is just across the street, and other beaches and shopping in Koloa and Poipu

are only a five to ten minute drive away.

About Anne Wachler

The friendly and courteous owners have only one request. That you leave --- feeling like you've had a really great time!

Anne Wachler purchased this condo in 2004

Why Anne Wachler chose Poipu

Back in '04 when real estate was booming, my ex-wife, who had made a lot of money in real estate told us that we needed to get into the market. We bought this unit because it was the only one we could afford.

What makes this condo unique

Back in '94 we disconnected the cable since there wasn't anything worth watching on TV. But I like going down there to watch a baseball or football game from time to time. Carole enjoys all the tinkering and fine-tuning. Most of the decor is hers. My contribution will be the flat screen TV in a few months.

In the evening we sit out on the lanai, sip a glass of wine, and share the day. When the moonlite breaks over the park, it's dakine!

Kauai - the Garden Isle

  • 5 of 5

The condo was close to the water. We were able to see the ocean from our lanai. The room had everything we needed to fix our meals there. There were also a lot of beach equipment available, including nice beach towels. The resort had a potluck one day which was fun to meet other guests there in a social setting. The island was beautiful with lots of things to do & see. Hated to leave after only a week.

Very good for the price

  • 4 of 5

There were a few small maintenance issues but not a deal breaker. Bathroom door comes of the track but easy to put back on. Needs new track and rollers. Sign said hold handle on toilet to flush but I adjusted the chain length and it was fine. Cubbard door came off when opened but again a small adjustment fixed that. Coffee maker does not shut off automatically so be carefull, could be a fire hazard. Everything u need is supplied and location is very good. For the money it is a real good deal and we look forward to going there again for longer period.

Great condo for any activity

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here for a week and loved it. The condo had everything we needed to make us feel at home. It is clean and well equipped. The complex is quiet and clean too with a nice pool area as well as nice gas grills. For us the location was quite optimal. We could hike at the Na Pali Coast as well as in Waimea Canyon without spending an eternity on the road. If you are more the beach vacationer there is a beach just a few steps down the road. It has a little sandy part but next to it is a nice grass area to lie too. We went there for snorkeling and saw various fish as well as sea turtles. Not far from the condo are two retail complexes, both with excellent dining possibilities. You can also cook at home, we didn't miss anything in our kitchen. A decent supermarket can be found in Koloa, just some miles away. We had a great stay and can recommend it to every couple, no matter what you are looking for on Kaua'i.

A little piece of paradise

  • 4 of 5

Lovely, quiet studio with wonderful view and a lovely swimming pool. Very relaxed, old Hawaii feel. The bath in the unit is very small and there is no jacuzzi at the pool area. Friendly guests and residents, and a wonderful staff and owner are extremely attentive to your needs. Absolutely delightful. Close to wonderful beaches and restaurants. John, Ray and Cathy made me feel so welcome and cared for. Aloha!

I was disappointed that this property was in need of upgrading. Some of the units have been improved, but this was not one of them. The furniture was all mismatched and appears to have been obtained from thrift shops and garage sales. The bed has some patio furniture cushions as a headboard and the mattress is in poor condition so a feather mattress cover is used. The walls and ceiling need painting .The view of the ocean is beautiful from the patio, but you cannot sit outside because of the bird droppings and the water from the noisy air conditioner. The pool is also in a lovely grotto, but was unusable while I was there because of a broken pump. I have no idea how long it has been broken. The cost of renting this un renovated unit is not in line with what a well renovated, well furnished unit would cost. The clean out fee is outrageous for such a small unit.

Owner's Response: My wife Carole and I both regret that any guest's vacation on Kaua'i may have been compromised because of conditions in our unit. Our hope is to enhance the stay of our guests, not detract from it. We agree that we need to schedule a painting. There are too many dings, dents, and smudges on the walls and ceiling. The mattress is in good shape but firm. So we recently purchased a mattress topper so that our guests could have a choice of firm or softer mattress. Our cleaning lady is expensive. But she is the best we could find. We have heard only compliments about her care, and have found her to be very reliable and thorough. The entire cleaning fee goes to her. Not a cent to us. The furniture is eclectic by design. It includes a handmade koa nite table, and a handmade koa reading lamp. There are storage cabinets, a small flat screen TV/DVD player and free wifi. The AC is only about a year old. It can be loud on the highest setting, but turning down the fan a notch dramatically reduces the noise. In 2012 we tinted the windows, and the roof was painted white, so there is less need for the AC. Plus the lanai door opens to the trade winds. Should bird droppings be a problem, the unit is well stocked with cleaning supplies, or a guest can contact our property manager. Guests should have full access to the pool. Even though it is not our responsibility, we try to get an estimated time of access or offer some compensation should the pool be inaccessible. That is a fair complaint. We don't feel our prices are out of line. We offer a clean fully-stocked studio unit on Kaua'i, with a two minute walk to the ocean in December for $95/nite. That being said, we do have room for improvement, and will strive to do better within the coming months. John and Carole Patt
