Kandel in the Wind - Corolla, Crown Point, 185 Yds to Beach, Pool, Hot Tub, Up to 4 Dogs Allowed

Kandel in the Wind has all the bells and whistles to make your next vacation a memorable one. Located in the quiet oceanside neighborhood of Crown Point, you will enjoy amenities like the large community pool, tennis courts and private beach access only 185 yards from the cottage. Conveniences are close by including grocery stores, fabulous restaurants, shops and boutiques, a movie theater and countless outdoor activities.

The three level interior is bright and cheery and features radiant hardwood flooring in the great room and granite counter tops in the kitchen.

The upper level has a great room with large flat screen TV, hardwood floors, cathedral ceiling, gas fireplace (for use in the off-season), comfy furnishings and access to the upper sun deck. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator with icemaker, range/oven, microwave, dishwasher and bar seating for four. The dining area seats up to ten. Finally, the king master bedroom has a TV, direct deck access and private bath with dual sink vanity.

The mid-level has a den with sleep sofa, flat screen TV, and access to the covered deck. There are three master bedrooms; a queen master bedroom with a TV, balcony and private bath. A king master bedroom with a TV, access to a covered deck and a private bath. The third master bedroom has two twin beds, a TV, access to covered deck and a private bath.

The lower level has a rec room with a pool table and a convenient wet bar with sink, microwave and full refrigerator. There is a bedroom with two twin bunk sets and a second bedroom with a pyramid bunk set with trundle. The bedrooms share a full hall bath. The washer and dryer are also located on this level.

Outdoor amenities include a private pool, hot tub, covered parking, two charcoal grills and two outdoor showers. The community pool and tennis courts are just steps away.

Very dirty

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Stay was enjoyable but we were shocked as to how dirty the home was! We took several hours after arriving to clean - the handrails were literally black with dirt grime . Whoever you have cleaning definitely did a bad bad job!!!!!

Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Kandel in the Wind with my immediate family, my parents, my older brother, and my younger brother and his family (7 adults and 7 kids total). This was a great space for us because we had plenty of room to spread out, everyone had their own bedrooms and the adults had their own bathrooms. The bunk rooms worked great for the kids. We loved having the pool available and being so close to the beach. Some of the previous reviews made me nervous that the house wouldn't be clean however we found it to be perfectly satisfactory in cleanliness. The carpets and other aspects are clearly worn from being used but that didn't bother us and we felt comfortable having children in the home. I would recommend this house.

Nice house but...

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of the property was great - close to the beach and close to the Food Lion shopping center. However, the condition of the house was far from how it appeared online. The carpets were incredibly grimy, needing either a good cleaning or replacement. The bedding pictured online was not present and other aspects of the home were very dirty (inches of dust on ceiling fans and in air vents, random cigarettes and candy/candy wrappers throughout the house). Disappointing.

Disappointing

When we arrived our first impression was how filthy the place was. Food residue on the refrigerator handle, dead fruit flies in the refrigerator, old food in the microwave, dishes in the dishwasher, bathrooms were cleaned maybe half. Outdoor furniture completely busted up and the hot tub had murky water. None of the bedrooms have been vacuum in a long time. We found Cheetos, popcorn and dead bugs. This place has potential, but needs some updating and more then anything better housekeeping! Would not recommend.

Shelly, thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay. We are very sorry to learn that you were not satisfied with the cleaning of the property. We wish that you would have notified us of these concerns as we would have gladly sent our cleaners back out to rectify any oversights immediately. It's unfortunate that during your conversations with staff this was not mentioned. I am glad to report that your other minor concerns you did report were addressed expeditiously. In the future, please report all of your concerns to the check-in office as soon as possible. We hope you'll reconsider returning to Kandel in the Wind as this is a well-maintained property that many other visitors have enjoyed.

Not Very Clean

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The staff at Beach Realty were great, and they did everything to make our stay memorable, but this particular unit had some issues. First, the place was FILTHY when we checked in. A cleaning crew came back and swept/mopped the common areas, but the bedroom floors were dirty, kitchen was really bad, and the entire place had a bad take-out-food smell. The furniture was old and the kitchen dishes and cookware were old and cheap. Kandel in the wind has great potential, but I would not recommend it.

Great location but in need of general maintenance/cleaning

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location is great! Super close to the beach and shopping. Pack ‘n play, gates, and high chair were an added bonus. However, the house was not clean. A cleaning crew did come back and cleaned the top floor, but the rest of the house was dirty. Floors were not washed, one comforter was dirty, the showers had sand in them. Listing pictures are very misleading. The house needs a lot of maintenance. Futon on the second floor broke when we sat on it; we removed the mattress to find that the frame was held together with zip ties and duct tape. Almost all of the plastic chairs outside by the pool have cracks and one completely broke when a member of our party sat in it. When I reached out about this I was just told to fill out an accidental damage form. Pool guy came and checked the pool and hot tub but did not actually clean them. Layout of the house is great; it just needs a good cleaning and maintenance.

In need of renovation

It is situated an easy walk to beach access although the steps over the dunes were quite steep and could be difficult to transverse for people with physical limitations. The house was clean and we found the labels on the kitchen cabinets and light switches very helpful. The kitchen was well-stocked with fishes, glassware, cutlery, pots and pans, etc. The flooring, both carpeting and hardwood, have seen better days, as was the case with the window treatments. If these are addressed, we would return. The property management was super professional and responsive.

Great Family Vacation Home

We had a late check in as the group renting before us left a significant mess requiring extensive cleanup. I will note that there were numerous stains on the carpet and a few cosmetic damages (broken window blinds) likely from the previous renters. Overall though, I do need to give kudos to the property management company for a quick response and deployment of additional cleaning assets. We plan to come back next year.

Dirty

The location of this rental was very nice, close to the beach and shopping. This was the dirtiest place I have ever stayed in. The vents and fans were covered with dust, there was poop on the baseboard in the bathroom. The first few nights people in our party had headaches from the dust and one person had to get a refill for their inhaler that they rarely use. It was nice being together but I wish it was in a cleaner place. We did call and complain to the management company who sent out the cleaners again, when they came they left the car running came into the house and mopped the kitchen floor and left.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is beautiful and spacious. It is very well stocked. However, it really needs some TLC. It needs top to bottom cleaning. Floors, ceiling fans, AC filter, need to wash all of the bedspreads, shampoo the carpet or replace it. The shower curtains had mold on them. The dryer needs to be replaced because it only dries on one setting and takes a long time. The exterior needs landscaping, pressure wash the building, repair some exterior facia/wood. Clean up carport area. Kitchen appliances and cabinets need to be cleaned. I sent this message to the management company. All they did was drop off a new toaster and one shower curtain. They never even replied to my other comments about repair and cleaning. House has potential under new management.

2nd vist to Kandel

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second year at Kandel. The space,layout and location is perfect for our larger group (14). We have noticed some wear on the home's general condition. There are a few areas that need some work. The toaster didn't work (2nd year in a row, same toaster), furnishings could use a refresh, some rust on shower curtain holders, hot tub cover strap was busted, carpets could probably be replaced. Nothing major but it was still noted amongst our group. Pool/hot tub were good and they were cleaned while we were there. We were disappointed on the cleanliness upon our arrival, while we had early check in and were notified the property was ready via text, the cleaners were just leaving as we pulled in (about 1.5 hours after the text). It appeared as if they hadn't done much. There were food remnants on furniture, floors and counters. Some of the showers looked as if they hadn't been touched. In the interest of full disclosure, we didn't reach out to the property managers because we didn't want to have to wait to have someone come back. We just took care of it ourselves. The linen service was a huge PLUS. Overall we would recommend this property as we have already reserved for next year. Hopefully there will be some off-season updating.

Fantastic Place in a Great Location!

The property was ideally situated both really close to the beach and the main shopping centers. The house itself was fantastic! The pool was a welcome break from the heat when it was too hot to go to the beach. The house had plenty of space and we all loved the main living room area on the top floor to hang out together. Only negatives were the bugs, just need to be careful opening/closing doors in the evening. Overall I would highly recommend the place and hope to be back again!

It was our least favorite rental in the 23 years of vacationing in the Outer Banks. We don't feel that things are kept up with at this home nor was the cleaning prior to arrival the same level that we have experienced with our realtors.

We are very sorry to hear you were not satisfied with this property. The only service call we had reported by you during your stay was regarding pool cue sticks and some outdoor furniture, which we addressed the same day. It's disappointing that we were not made aware of any other concerns you may have had. We think Kandel in the Wind is a wonderful property and so do many of our other renters.

Fun Times Close to the Beach!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Loved how well set up this house was and it's proximity to the beach as well as all the great things to do in Corolla (lighthouse, seafood, movies, mini golf, shopping, adventure ropes course). The adult beds were comfortable and the children's bunks didn't squeak, everyone enjoyed the picnic table on the deck, the good size kitchen, the pool table, outdoor pool, hot tub, hammock-would definitely recommend!

Genovesi Family Vacation 2019

Reviewer Comments: Everything was Great, I liked the fact we were near the shopping and a lot of places we could take kids to dinner and let the adults get away as well. The one thing I would like to see updated is the TV unit upstairs in the Great Room 3 remote controls is pretty much out of sight, turning on, changing channels and working the DVR are kind of a pain in the butt, we end up doing everything manually.Other then that a Great Vacation.Thank you,Augie Genovesi

Refreshing

We had a very relaxing time at the Kandel in the Wind. Everything was pretty clean (had a little trouble with my allergies). The heated pool was perfect for the week we were there. The location was great, we even walked to breakfast one day. We did miss out on seeing the wild horses which was disappointing. I would mention that the dryer didn't really work had to run clothes through it multiple times and for families that don't have small children the alarm on the door near the pool was a little frustrating. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Thanks again, Cross Family

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We're glad you enjoyed your first trip to the OBX. We highly recommend seeing the wild horses in Carova - sorry you missed them on this trip. Thank you for reporting the issue with the dryer, the owner has purchased a new dryer for the property.

A much needed get away...

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 6 of my best friends and I spent a week at this property. Everything was absolutely beautiful and amazing. The location was great for what we needed... the beach was just at the end of the road, grocery stores were convenient, and it wasn't too far from other shopping spots/restaurants. We were a little sad that we had paid for the heated pool and it didn't work for the first three days that we were there but once it was fixed, we definitely utilized it as much as we could. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who asked about it! It was absolutely amazing!
