Wonderful stay on Coronado!

We had a wonderful stay on Coronado! The home is BEAUTIFUL!! Walking distance to the beach and park. Short walk to shopping, coffee, restaurants and more! Communication with the owner was fantastic. Lovely neighborhood - A vacation to remember!

Family Coronado trip

Location and house were great. TV’s in all rooms except the living room do not work and only 2 toilets worked. In need of maintenance otherwise great. We enjoyed our time.

Perfect Family Home for the Holidays!

This lovely home had everything and more we could have asked for with our family of 9 (6 adults and 3 kids) during our stay over Christmas and New Year's. A short walk to the beach every morning, an afternoon swim in the pool and a fantastic rooftop patio for happy hour and sunset every evening, then back to the beach for a bonfire. The house is very well stocked and the kitchen has every appliance you could ever need. The house had a ton of space, with different areas to congregate (or escape!) with family members. The home is on a very quiet street, away from all the beach traffic and tourist areas. We found ourselves using the bikes everyday for a quick trip to Orange Ave or a cruise around the island. We could have stayed even longer! The owner, Scott, was very accommodating and easy to work with. We would love to rent this house again in the future when we return to Coronado. Thank you for opening up your beautiful home to our family!

Beautiful House & Location

All in all, a Great Stay. Amazing to be a block from the beach and playground, a fun dog-run, and stunning views of San Diego and the Ocean. A few things that limited our experience. I believe that Scott, the owner and host, is an extremely busy person, so don't expect warm fuzzies from this host. Message responses were a little brusque and lacked a little of the customer service Love that you might expect from a higher-end listing like this. It's a $6.5M home, but many of the accoutrements were less stellar. One of the guest beds was not attached to headboard, and amenities like shampoo were nowhere to be found. Towels were mismatched and a little worn and low-end for the quality of the home. What was described as queen sized beds were actually full-sized (which is tight for a couple). Heavy floor tiles were scattered around the home (clearly for an upcoming renovation) and one fell on one of our guest's feet. We were told not to move any of them, and signs on these items indicated the same (never experienced anything like that in any other home rental). The heated pool, which was a key element to the listing for our kids, wouldn't heat at all after 3 days (though the Jacuzzi did work). We were told that a cold chill was affecting the pool heat, but even so, it should have heated somewhat after 3 days of heating. That was a let-down to the family. It was still great value, but just be aware that you need to be a little more self-sufficient in dealing with minor inconveniences.

Beautiful home but ......

If I was only rating the house, it would be a 5. It’s a lovely home, in a wonderful location and with ample space to accommodate my large family get-together. It should be noted we took very good care of the house and received back our full deposit. As I’m rating our overall experience and not just the house, the issues we encountered unfortunately make it necessary for me to give our rental experience a 2 rating. 1. The main kitchen refrigerator (located on the 2nd floor) was unusable for our entire stay. I only learned of this when I asked about check-in procedures and was told the refrigerator was “under maintenance” and there would still be adequate refrigerator space for us. Unfortunately this was not the case since we prepared most of our meals at the house. The bar-sized refrigerator (also on the 2nd floor) provided little space, and the outdoor side-by-side refrigerator (downstairs) was partially filled with leftover food and condiments from previous occupants. Also, the freezer door only partially opened before hitting a wall, limiting its use. It’s fortunate we brought 3 coolers intended for day trips, as they instead were used for refrigeration. It did not take long for the constant shuttling of food between the 2 floors to become a major inconvenience. When it was clear the refrigerator would not be repaired by the end of our stay, I contacted the owner twice to request a partial refund, explaining the inconvenience this problem had continued to be for us. I received no response. It apparently didn’t occur to the owner that for the daily rate he was charging, and for the good will it would have generated, one option could have been to purchase a floor model refrigerator from a big box store. 2. There were roaches in the kitchen and living room, and pantry moths flying around. We alerted the owner and his spray service arrived the next day, applying a treatment for the roaches. We were specifically told by the owner to not throw away any house spices, even though they showed visible signs of moth infestation. 3. Regarding the bedrooms, the pictures are accurate, not the written descriptions. The double bed is actually a single, and bunk room beds are single/single, and single/double. The one issue the owner did promptly address and fully resolve was replacement of an empty grill propane tank. Collectively the issues put a damper on what should have been a wonderful, stress-free week at this high end and high priced property.

Great location, communication lacked, would pass next time

House is spacious and comfortable for our multi family 8 week work from coronado trip. We all brought infants and there was room for them to play, as well as for the adults to work. Location is perfect, so close to the beach 5 minute walk and 15 minute drive to all San Diego has to offer. Great family bonding time during covid We did had a few issues which made our stay challenging. Biggest problem was communication. From start to finish, the owner Scott had numerous assistants deal with our issues. It was only on the app, direct contact via text or email was not granted, their choosing. Over 8 weeks we had messaging with roughly 5 people. Leticia was very kind and polite. Ally however was the rudest person I have messaged with in a long time. Her tone of messages sounded like she was so annoyed to hear anything we had to say. If she were one of my employees and spoke to a renter/customer in that manner, she would not work for me. Never felt so disrespected. The thread is saved in vrbo in case anyone ever wants to see the carnage. Please consider a new form of communication like text or email, or hire a company to help facilitate needed concerns in a timely order. Wifi is not all that strong. We had most of us working remotely and the bandwidth was not sufficient. We asked to pay for an internet upgrade, but was informed that it wasn’t possible. We had to purchase google nest wifi so that all places in the house received wifi. With that in place, we still experienced slow speeds for work calls. We had to purchase an extender as well. Knives are very dull and cheap. Impossible to sharpen. Had to go out and buy some good knives. Also needed to buy a good non stick pan There was no vacuum cleaner. We asked to buy one for the house and then be refunded by the owner, this was shot down. So we just had to go and buy a vacuum. The hardwood floors get dirty, even though none of us ever wore shoes inside. White couches were ok, but since this is a rental, they weren’t all that white. Nothing we could do Loud aircraft most nights until 11pm, very very close to navy base. Fun to see big things in the sky though. Pool and hot tub surface needs to be redone, pitting everywhere. Jets do not work at all We made the best of our trip despite many hurdles. I would recommend renting this house if you are comfortable with the before mentioned shortcomings. Location, weather, size of house make up for the not so pleasant things

Perfect for us

We had a great vacation at the house in Coronado. We played golf and pickle ball, hiked and walked the beach. The restaurants were wonderful and being close to San Diego was a real bonus. The house was perfect. There were 13 of us (ages 14 to 79) and we all had plenty of room to relax. The top deck with fireplace was wonderful to watch sunsets and the numerous aircraft fly around the naval base. The kitchen truly had every utensil, gadget, spice and appliance to make our cooking easy and carefree. We used the spa nightly. It was too chilly to spend as much time as we would have liked outside….but there are wonderful spaces there. A great time was had by all and we would highly recommend the home in Coronado, Ca.

Great location, wonderful pool and spa

This house is located right next to the base, and has a bit less traffic than the village area. however, it is very walkable, and super close to the beach. a 10 minute walk to the Dell, a 3 minute walk to the sand. the house has several lounge areas so perfect for a large group. We did not have kids with us, but three of the bedrooms are setup to be child friendly design. LOVED the spa and pool.

Super home and location

We had a wonderful family vacation at Scott’s property. The proximity to the beach is fantastic and the home itself had everything you could need and more - lounge by the pool, enjoy BBQ on the deck off the kitchen or watch the aircraft from the roof top. The home itself is super spacious and has multiple areas to sit and chill or gather together as a group. A wonderful vacation and we will be back for sure!

Beautiful House!

Loved our stay with family in this house. It had the space we needed, location we wanted, and the pool was great. We were worried about the multiple accesses to the pool with little children around but it wasn't a problem keeping them all closed. As others have mentioned, communication with the owner, including the check-in process, was not top-notch, but we were able to check in and check out ok.

Fantastic Beach Home

We enjoyed our 10 day stay! The house is spacious and very comfortable. Master bath, recently renovated is gorgeous! Backyard is heavenly as are all the outdoor living spaces. Walked to beach in10 min. Scott was wonderful, easy to communicate with. Can’t wait to return!

Great stay in Coronado

We did an extended family quarantine/vacation at this property for 4 weeks. It was my first time in Coronado, and it couldn't have been better. The house is as advertised with really nice common areas and various nooks that came in handy with multiple people working and doing school remotely. The house has an ocean view and is only a 3 minute walk to the beach, or a 10-15 minute walk to town, where you can get anything you need. The owner responded quickly to any questions we had, and the only issue (internet went down) was resolved within 15 minutes. A great house and great stay.

Beautiful home, one block from beach

This home is as beautiful as the pictures suggest. The amenities are great and the kitchen well equipped. We really enjoyed the pool, the hot tub, the rooftop deck and the multiple kitchens. There are several seating areas which allow guests private spaces to work, read or unwind. The owner and property managers were extremely responsive and pleasant to deal with. The house is really close to the beach. The property is very close to the military base. We loved sitting on the upper decks and watching the military aircraft come in for landing. This can get loud, which may not be for everyone. But we loved it. Overall, the home is better than advertised and we really enjoyed our stay.

Great Home in a Fantastic Location

This is a fantastic property located a short walk from the beach in a beautiful neighborhood in Coronado. It is one of few properties in the area that you can rent for less than a month, which we really appreciated, and the layout is great. The property owner manages the property themselves, and as you can see from other reviews, the owner isn't particularly customer service oriented. Our rental experience would have been better if a local professional property manager was hired to answer questions and interact with through our 3-week rental. The great location, value and shorter stay allowed at this property still lead to our giving it a 5-star review.

Owner is not professional

We booked the house 4 months ago and I tried four times to get in contact with the owner with no success. I was notified that the property was up for auction the week before our arrival and sent an email and then he responded immediately. He hounded me is to how I got the information and who notified me. After the stay, he said he was keeping my very large deposit and it could be much more because of the alleged damage to a children's bunk bed rail. I checked all rooms and everything was left as it was found. When I emailed him about not returning my deposit, he came back with there was some sand in the pool too; its a beach house! I have emailed him several times to work something out and he won't respond and is keeping the very large deposit. Good luck!

Nice Stay

The house was in a great location and provided plenty of room for our family. We were at the property over thanksgiving and thus cooked a big meal for our family and some friends. The kitchen was well appointed - even found a turkey baster!. Overall we had a great time, the house is very nice and we would rent there again.

Revised Review - Do Not Stay Here!

Unfortunately I have to revise my previous review. I highly recommend NOT staying at this beach house. As I said previously, we absolutely loved this house and had a great stay. The issue happened with the deposit after the fact. According to the contract owner and I both signed, he had 3 weeks to either refund me the deposit or provide proof (including receipts for damages fixed) that we had damaged the house. At the end of the 3 weeks I texted the owner asking him about the status of the deposit. It wasn't until then that he said we had apparently done considerable damage to his home and that he was still trying to figure everything out. He said that within the 3 days we were there we had ripped the cover on the outside couch, which in turn caused extensive mold and he had to replace the entire outdoor couch. First, we only stayed there for 2 nights/3 days and according to him his realtor came the day after we left to check out the house. Mold, especially extensive mold, doesn't happen that fast. He also said that we broke an outside light fixture, which also was not true. My mistake was that when we saw these two issues (the mold and broken light fixture) we assumed he was aware of them and did not notify him. I made the assumption that he was aware of these issues because he had just been to the house the previous week. Over the period of several weeks the owner and I went back and forth on this issue. By this time he was supposed to either refund my deposit to show me proof INCLUDING RECEIPTS for replacement of damaged items. I continually asked him for these receipts and he could not provide them and told me I was "bullying" him. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and once I did that he finally refunded me my deposit. VRBO provides a security deposit protection plan, which I thought would be in my advantage. When I called VRBO they said they had no record that I stayed in this house and that the owner must have NOT booked it through VRBO, which means I was not protected under their security deposit protection plan. I should have payed more attention, but the owner booked it through his personal pay pal account and not VRBO. Definitely my mistake, but also very sketchy on the part of the owner. This was all a very unfortunate situation considering we had such a wonderful time at the house. We had even talked about coming back in the future. This whole issue with the deposit was shady and just a way for him to keep my money.
