Lovely getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed for five days in this cabin in early spring. We have three young children-18 months, 5, and 7. They really enjoyed the hammock and swing chair overlooking the river out back. The community of cabin dwellers in the area were all exceedingly friendly and welcoming. The cabin itself was beautiful and well appointed with everything we needed. We were glad to finds few extra board games for evening family entertainment. We absolutely loved having the wood burning stove for warmth at night as well as some indoor marshmallow roasting.

The master bedroom loft (accessible only by steep stairway, so be aware that it could be an issue if you have limited mobility) was comfortable and we loved the view out the huge front windows. It was nice to be without any electronics for a week.

The road to town and RMNP is.very steep and has some tight switchbacks, but it's not far to town or the park, so we were able to make easy daily outings to the park and a run to the grocery store wasn't too much of a trek. We highly recommend Cinnamon's for fantastic cinnamon buns.

I can't recommend this place enough. In fact, we are already planning to return next year.

What a pleasure. We were able to disconnect from the busy digital life we live. I will have to say that it was a bit hard at first for all of us. Before the end of the week we were hiking, playing games, and hanging out as a family!!

Our Home Away for the week

  • 5 of 5

When we pulled into the cabin association, we knew we were going to love the area. Super scenic and the beautiful CO scenery we were wanting surrounding us. Once we reached the cabin, (just follow the creek) we knew it would be our home away from home. The cabin had everything we needed for the week.

We spent our time "fishing" the creek and caught some small trout... nothing to feed the family on. The kiddos enjoyed riding their bikes up and down the hill and "coasting" down to the general store to get snacks. For the most part all people we encountered were very friendly and helpful if we happened to have a question for them. It was soothing to have the windows open and to hear the creek flow. We even got to see an Elk walk across the bridge, right behind our vehicles and back into the area up the road. It was taller than our truck! We loved that along with the black squirrels. The only thing I would recommend, since we had teenagers with us, is to have a slightly larger TV and to bring a few movies for evening entertainment. The board games were great but for a week stay we wanted to switch it up.

Very cute little cabin just a few minutes from RMNP. Our family loved staying there, playing in the creek, and hiking in the park.
