About Jaime Dier Higgins
My name is Art and I live on the property. I have lived in Hawaii since 1979 and I am an avid water sportster. My favorite activities are kite surfing and dirt biking. I live on the most beautiful beach and I have opened the first floor of my house to guests so they can experience this paradise. I am available to talk story and give you local tips and ideas but only if you want to talk - otherwise you won't even know that I am there!

Close to a world class beach
We stayed here for one reason. It was close to the beach - two minute walk if you walk slow. We love this beach. The place is not big but has a bedroom, kitchen (no stove), bathroom with nice shower that takes 5 minutes for water to get hot, coffee maker, outdoor lani with granite table. If I was staying longer I would want a bigger kitchen, but as advertised it was great, so it gets 5 stars.
Cozy accommodations near an amazing beach
Wonderful place with everything you need for a wonderful stay in Waimanalo. Plenty of privacy with a lovely patio in the rear and two minutes' walk to one of the biggest beaches on Oahu. Perfect for a couple! Our hosts were very gracious and available should you need them. We will be back! Many thanks to our hosts!!
Nice little place close to the sea
This is a nice, clean little cottage only a short stroll to one of the best beaches in Hawaii. The place is small, just big enough for two people, but had all we could have needed for our stay. It is next door to another rental and the owners live upstairs - they were very friendly and almost never around. Recommend it for a couple looking for a less pricey place to stay in real Hawaii, but not far from the amenities of Kailua and Honolulu.
Can’t beat the beach and the quiet neighborhood.
Location is perfect! Really enjoyed the simplicity of the unit - loved the outside area. AC unit is extra and worth it for night sleeping. The owner is lovely and has a ton of local suggestions and connections. Would stay again.
It was a place to sleep
We came to Hawaii for my brothers wedding, picked this place due to the high reviews and hopes of hearing the ocean at night as well as my brothers wedding was right on the beach just a few minutes away.
It is close to the ocean (3 minute walk give or take) but not close enough to hear the waves at night.
Bed is super soft (fiance loved it, I however need a firmer bed so my back wasnt super happy in the mornings)
I didnt notice AC wasnt included in my rental unit and that it would cost an additional $15 a day. That was a bummer.
Ants.... oh my gosh ants... First time I turned on the toaster oven the counter was swarming with them. No matter what we did or how much we cleaned up after making food, ants.... I eventually bought a queen killer and that took care of most of them.
There is also a parrot in the back yard, I did not know this. It is fairly obnoxious at times.
The dryer, when ran, does make this room HOT (the vent is right by the bedroom window) its also impossible to have a quiet night in as other people are almost always using the washer and dryer until they cant at 9PM.
Room was non refundable by the time I found these out - my family rented a few other places off of VRBO (some more expensive, some cheaper) all were 100x's better than this place and within 1 minute walking to 2 minute driving distance. Reason for 2 stars is due to the equipment available to barrow, ability to wash and dry clothing without additional fees and location, also we never met the owners in person, this could be a plus to some people but not us, last time we came to Hawaii I enjoyed coffee and breakfast with the hosts', I understand every ones different but it was kind of a downer not even to get a hello in person.
I would only suggest this place if there is no other places in the area available.
My mother and father got a place 1 minute driving distance away, it came with a personal letter to welcome them, AC, some complimentary Hawaiian fruits and the renters offered to take them on a small tour if they wanted during their first day on arrival. This was the cheapest of all the rentals my friends and family rented... Everyone is different and have different schedules but I hope in the future people who rent out will upgrade their hospitality especially for the price of the room.
Great experience at Waimanalo Beach, Oahu cottage
We spent 5 nights at this cottage which was perfect in size for the two of us. The easy 2-minute walk to the beach made for lots of fun with available items for our use like boogie boards, beach towels and mats or chairs, plus coolers for bringing our beverages with us.
We were provided with a clean cottage with dishes, linens, towels, and some condiments in the cupboards and fridge including a bag of coffee to start of our first morning there. That was great since we arrived late at night with no time to pick up things along the way.
Art provided lots of great suggestions for sightseeing and snorkeling favourites including best time to go.
We loved having our own patio sitting area, within a private yard, for morning coffees and unwinding in a shaded area after a busy day at the beach or sightseeing.
Would highly recommend this little gem to anyone wanting to count on having a great experience!
The property is across from the beach access to #1 beach is USA per Dr. Beach for 2015! White sand beach for miles and no crowds. Its a coutry setting and pace but still close to other towns such as Kailua and Lanikai
