Guestbook comments from the manager

An absolutely charming house in the center of Bruges. We spent 3 nights at the place with two young kids. Valerie was flexible and helpful in terms of providing a baby cot and a high chair. * Location: The house is located a few minute walk from the market area. * Living room: nice “traditional European style” living room. Cable TV and Blu ray DVD player is available * Kitchen: Nice kitchen with an outdoors “extension” that could probably be used in the summer. Kitchen includes basic fridge, hob (stove) /oven, microwave, other basic kitchen equipment. You can find a supermarket around the market area * Bedrooms: fairly large (definitely when compared to hotels...) - nice and cozy. Double beds in both rooms plus another single bed in one of the rooms. * Large bathroom bathtub * Heating in the house / hot water all worked fine. * Other comments: (i) non-smoking house (good!) Bottom line: an excellent place to stay in when visiting Bruges!

Rent it with confidence

  • 5 of 5

The owner waited for us, gave us good information and was very kind and efficient. There is no parking here, but there is a short walk from here (and you can get right next to the entrance to unload). Great bakery close by, also a small shop across the street and a proper supermarket around the corner.

The address is good--quiet street, not far from anything.

Interior is very welcoming. We were there in February, it was cold outside, but the heating was great. Very comfortable and inviting house. There is also a minuscule courtyard, but sufficient for reading and having a coffee, when it's warm.

It was clean, safe, warm, charming and welcoming. We were a family of 3, and our daughter of 5 enjoyed the place as well. Would go back and recommend it.

Lovely Home in Lovely Bruges

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house! We were a party of four (my parents and us) staying for a week early januari in this house which exceeded our expectations.

The owner was very helpful and gave us plenty of useful information. A joy to deal with him.

The house, very welcoming and furnished with taste, was cozy, comfortable and very clean . Well equipied it had everything we needed for our stay .

The location is just ideal, the market is a nice 5 to 10 min walk passed lovely buildings and the canal, plenty of restaurants nearby, bakeries - butchers - small supermarket within short distance, this while the house is in a quiet part of the very center of Bruges.

Overal, we had a splendid time.

We plan to go back in Summer this year

Serious problems with plumbing spoil this house

  • 2 of 5

When we arrived at this house we were pleased - it was well equipped and spacious. The description says the house is "pleasant luxury of modern comfort" - which I think is a bit of a stretch. We thought "basic and comfortable" would be more fitting.

It's well located and is close to the most divine bakery and the supermarket Smatch.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner who was very friendly and gave us plenty of useful information on restaurants, attractions and parking.

2 out of the 3 bedrooms are adjoined by a staircase, which is fine for parents and kids, but not if there's x3 couples in total staying in the house.

What really lets this house down is the (only) bathroom and poor plumbing. The shower is handheld, so you have to sit in the bath while showering. In addition, we discovered that the the hot water only comes on in 3 minute bursts so you have - 3 minutes of hot water, 3 minutes of cold water, 3 mins hot, 3 mins cold - making it very diificult to shower properly, even if you're really quick! We all ended up taking baths which made the process of getting ready and out exploring Bruges a bit lengthy.

In my opinion, being able to bathe is a basic requirement! So, I will not be recommending this property to family and friends.

I would recommend Bruges though - beautiful and plenty to do.

Owner's Response: These comments are meant to harm us, they are false and therefor I object formally that this should be published and/or taken into account. These comments are anonymous without stating a defined period of stay, I, the owner, did not welcome these people, Our listing description mentions clearly : 2 bedrooms (not 3 as said in the comments) 1 bathroom sleeps 2-5 people and is not meant for 3 couples as said in the comments. We never accept more people. The mentioned problems with " 3 min hot water" are impossible as the hot water comes from a contineous flow-through condens kettle ( continuous supply of water is continuously heated. We did not receive any remark on bad functioning nor from guests and nor from our cleaning people, we checked the heating, we did not encounter any of described problems. Our guests are invited to call us if any problem in the house occurs, we are available and we live not far from the house. The guests should have done so. Our house has obtained an official holiday rental permit and has been listed 'certified for quality' by the Flemish Board of Toerism, this in February 2011 after a severe audit and this following a new decree of the Flemish Government. Not many succeeded ...

Fabulous vacation home in Bruges

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Bruges was fantastic, and Acadia was the perfect home base for our group of 5. The place was very clean and well-maintained. There was more room than I expected, probably enough to sleep 6-7. The decor perfectly fit the home, and the furniture (including beds) was comfortable. Checking in and out was a breeze, and the owner responded to all my correspondence very quickly. Bruges is a great town for exploring...we discovered something new on every street. I would highly recommend staying at Acadia on your next trip to Bruges!

A lovely house, clean and comfortable with all amenities of home, and in a quiet part of town, just 5 minutes walk from the city centre. No on street parking, but with ample only a short walk away. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
