About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Condo with mountain and garden views and close to the beach

Pali Ke Kua, a 22 acre condo resort is located in Princeville on the north shore of Kauai. Patterned after the Hawaiian style hale, it sits among broad expanses of lawn atop a 200’ bluff overlooking the vast Pacific.

This condo is #16 in Pali Ke Kua and is a 2BR/2BA split level end unit with no one above or below affording you extra privacy. Off the lanai is an expanse of lawn with a garden view of the Hanalei mountains as well as a peek-a-boo view of Hanalei Bay. Unlike most condos in the Princeville area, this one has air conditioning, a welcome addition during the warmer months of the year.

The condo has a fully-equipped kitchen with new stainless steel appliances including an induction range. The bedrooms with their adjacent baths have a king and double size bed. Double and twin bed mats can be used for extra sleeping options. The condo is equipped with a telephone, ceiling fans in every room, a washer and dryer, hair dryers, ironing board and iron, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, sand toys and coolers available for your use.

After a day of exploring Kauai’s north shore, enjoy a refreshing drink on the lanai taking in the pleasant trade winds. You will then know why Kauai is called Paradise.

Take a short stroll over to the 200’ bluff where you may see playing porpoises, humpback whales and a spectacular sunset over Bali Hai. A private paved path leads you down to the virtually private Hideaways beach where snorkeling is among the best on Kauai.

Amenities include a swimming pool, hot tub and restaurant. A short walk down the road will take you to the famous St. Regis Resort. Walk or drive to the Princeville Shopping Center where you will find all the comforts of home, including a market with pharmacy, post office, shops, restaurants, etc.

About John Dawson

My wife, Janice, spent her early years growing up in Hawaii and I'm a California boy. Our children and grand children are really looking forward to spending some time in this beautiful location on Kauai.

John Dawson purchased this condo in 2015

Why John Dawson chose North Shore

What I love the most about Pali Ke Kua is that it is vintage Hawaii, with Hawaiian hale styled condo and broad expanses of lawn. They don't make resorts like this anymore!

What makes this condo unique

One of the most unique benefits of Pali Ke Kua is the private paved path down the bluff to a secluded beach accessible only by this path. It's reported to have some of the best snorkeling in Kauai.

Nice location in Princeville

  • 4 of 5

This condo is one of many in a cluster near the Saint Regis hotel. The location and orientation of the unit provides a remarkable sense of seclusion despite others quite nearby. The furnishings are comfortable and the kitchen had just about everything we needed in the way of pots and pans and utensils. We cooked most of our meals. The path to the beach is very steep. It proved impossible for the older members of our family. The only drawback we experienced was a consequence of the loft layout. The bathrooms are accessible only through one or the other bedrooms. The loft bedroom is open to light and noise from downstairs and didn't work well for light sleepers. Still, I'd consider renting again, putting the light sleepers in the master bedroom on the ground floor.

Beautiful grounds, not super clean

  • 3 of 5

First with the positives.

-The property is absolutely beautiful. Stunning gardens, lush green lawns, right next to a beach. The views are breathtaking.

-The pool is so nice, with a little shallow pool for little kids, which was perfect for our 4 year old.

-The unit itself looks pretty newly renovated, with nice new appliances and a new tile floor.

-It came well equipped, with snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrellas, beach towels, and the kitchen fully stocked with utensils, dishes, pots, and pans. Lots of other odds and ends such as dish detergent, cleaning solutions, and laundry detergent. Very convenient.

-The owner responds quickly when we had requests.

Now for the negatives.

- The unit was not at all clean when we arrived. To be fair, we did check in a couple hours early, but we checked with the owner before doing so. We found two dead lizards, lizard droppings everywhere, and the surfaces were all dusty. When I let the owner know he said the cleaner came and saw our suitcases, so she left without asking if we'd like the unit cleaned. Um, hello? No, I do not want to stay in a condo full of lizard droppings and dead lizards, thank you very much. Instead of offering to have the unit cleaned for us, the owner offered to have it done for a fee. No thanks. We spent enough money on the unit as it is. He should have had the cleaners come and clean up for free as a courtesy.

- In addition to the lizard droppings, there was an ant infestation in the kitchen. We couldn't get rid of them no matter how hard we tried. There was also a fruit fly infestation in both bathrooms. Live lizards everywhere we looked. We had a great vacation, but we were pretty skeeved out the entire time we stayed in the condo.

Owner's Response: Dear Rachel, I'm so sorry about the condo had not being clean when you checked in but when you asked about early check in I told you I was not sure that the cleaners had cleaned yet. Yes the cleaners should have asked if you wanted it cleaned but I being 2000 miles away didn't know what was going on. I have the best housekeeper, in my estimation, on Kauai and when she is allowed to do her job, it's been perfect. No other complaints. John

Pleasant place, great location

  • 5 of 5

We went with our 2 babies and another couple who have a 3 year old. The kids were happy with the abundant lawn to run around on and the pool. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the beach. The place is well stocked with everything and was very comfortable. The only thing was that is was hard to ventilate when the place got hot during the day/evening - but abundant fans helped and there is an AC unit that worked ok as well. We would definitely come back!

Great Spot in Kauai

  • 4 of 5

Excellent location and the common areas are immaculate. Pool and spa are very well kept. The private beach for residents of the complex is provides the best snorkeling we found. Better than Ke'e, Tunnels and others.

The accommodations are great for the price. Private, quiet and well appointed. The kitchen is really nice. All the utensils and cookware you could poosibly need. Master bed is comfortable. Perfect for my wife and I. The upstairs area was great for the kids. Beach chairs, ice chests and boogie board were much appreciated. Also plenty of guidebooks, reference materials and a mini library were a welcome surprise.

There are only a couple downsides. The AC unit is an updated portable unit. It's too small for the space. The upstairs gets HOT! We closed the blinds and windows while keeping the fans running but it did little good. The AC kept the kitchen area bearable but the upstairs stayed very warm until a couple hours past sundown. Also, the bathrooms are a bit dated. Mildew in the shower is tough to stomach. Last, plan on some geckos sharing the space with you. They are friendly but leave some gifts behind.

Peaceful Retreat with Great Amenities!

  • 5 of 5

My family, including our two young kids stayed here for five nights and we had a great time! The condo is spacious, with a separate master suite and upstairs loft, which the kids took over as their own. The appliances are high quality and the beds are comfortable. The condo is packed with lots of extras including boogie boards which we took to Hanalei Bay for some fun in the waves! The sliding door opens to a beautiful lawn with views of the mountains beyond Hanalei Bay. We went snorkeling at Hideaways beach almost every morning and spent most of our evenings on the lanai watching the birds. We are already planning our next trip!

Perfect Condo For Enjoying Kauai!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently enjoyed two and a half weeks at this condominium. It is situated in a lovely section of Princeville and provides spectacular views from the resort grounds which border the ocean! This quiet, clean, comfortable home is very inviting, nicely decorated, well maintained, and well stocked with nearly anything one would need when vacationing. The kitchen is fully equipped and has beautiful new appliances. We found the temperature to be comfortable as there are ceiling fans and an automatic solar vent fan which work well in conjunction with the many louvered window vents to keep the home cool. These can be supplemented as needed by an air conditioning unit.

The space and layout of the condo were perfect for us. Our son joined us for 10 days so he had his private bedroom, bathroom with shower and closet on the second floor loft. Because of the design of the home we found the rooms in the loft area to be very private from the master bedroom and bath.

The interior was great, and the outside was wonderful! From the lanai we looked out over a lush, green landscaped lawn with beautiful flowers and a variety of colorful, interesting birds! In the distance we could view an inviting glimpse of Hanalei Bay! The views along the private path to Hideaways Beach are spectacular! Hideaways Beach is lovely and this section is especially nice because it is private and quiet. Our son snorkeled at several locations on Kauai and decided his favorite location to snorkel was right in front at Hideaways Beach.

We found this condominium to be a perfect location for enjoying the restaurants, shopping, activities and beauty of Kauai, either by walking or a short drive (local area), or driving (other parts of the island). The owner is very accessible and considerate, and the listing description and pictures are accurate.

We feel very fortunate to have stayed in this home on our first trip to Kauai and if we are ever blessed enough to come back to Kauai we would definitely return to this wonderful condo!!
