About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Condo with mountain and garden views and close to the beach

Pali Ke Kua, a 22 acre condo resort is located in Princeville on the north shore of Kauai. Patterned after the Hawaiian style hale, it sits among broad expanses of lawn atop a 200’ bluff overlooking the vast Pacific.

This condo is #16 in Pali Ke Kua and is a 2BR/2BA split level end unit with no one above or below affording you extra privacy. Off the lanai is an expanse of lawn with a garden view of the Hanalei mountains as well as a peek-a-boo view of Hanalei Bay. Unlike most condos in the Princeville area, this one has air conditioning, a welcome addition during the warmer months of the year.

The condo has a fully-equipped kitchen with new stainless steel appliances including an induction range. The bedrooms with their adjacent baths have a king and double size bed. Double and twin bed mats can be used for extra sleeping options. The condo is equipped with a telephone, ceiling fans in every room, a washer and dryer, hair dryers, ironing board and iron, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, sand toys and coolers available for your use.

After a day of exploring Kauai’s north shore, enjoy a refreshing drink on the lanai taking in the pleasant trade winds. You will then know why Kauai is called Paradise.

Take a short stroll over to the 200’ bluff where you may see playing porpoises, humpback whales and a spectacular sunset over Bali Hai. A private paved path leads you down to the virtually private Hideaways beach where snorkeling is among the best on Kauai.

Amenities include a swimming pool, hot tub and restaurant. A short walk down the road will take you to the famous St. Regis Resort. Walk or drive to the Princeville Shopping Center where you will find all the comforts of home, including a market with pharmacy, post office, shops, restaurants, etc.

About John Dawson

My wife, Janice, spent her early years growing up in Hawaii and I'm a California boy. Our children and grand children are really looking forward to spending some time in this beautiful location on Kauai.

John Dawson purchased this condo in 2015

Why John Dawson chose North Shore

What I love the most about Pali Ke Kua is that it is vintage Hawaii, with Hawaiian hale styled condo and broad expanses of lawn. They don't make resorts like this anymore!

What makes this condo unique

One of the most unique benefits of Pali Ke Kua is the private paved path down the bluff to a secluded beach accessible only by this path. It's reported to have some of the best snorkeling in Kauai.

Nice Condo, lovely grounds, weak A/C.

  • 4 of 5

Very nice condo , well equipped with beach chairs, etc, excellent kitchen, washer/dryer. Lovely grounds and just a few minutes walk to view incredible sunsets. Walking distance to St. Regis , and centrally located , close to all amenities in Princeville/Hanalei. Very helpful owner , who replaced a torn patio chair immediately. There is not much privacy upstairs of course as it is an open galery type bedroom. The bathrooms are great. The only drawback we found was the portable A/C which appears to be inadequate to cool the place on hot days. The upstairs bedroom (open loft) is particularly warm even with the A/C and fans on. If you are not bothered by lack of cold A/C the condo is a gem.

Perfect week in Kauai with my family.

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at this beautiful condo during our sons' Spring Break. As we walked downstairs into the family room, our first impressions were, "WOW!". The open feel of the condo, the wide and crystal clear windows and glass slider that looked out onto a spacious and beautifully maintained open space area right outside the patio and the gorgeous shade tree just outside the kitchen was just the beginning. The kitchen had nicely upgraded appliances (that was the first time I had used an induction stove and oven) and all were clean and well maintained as well as new and clean washer and dryer. Every type of utensil/mixing bowl/kitchen needs were supplied. Everything listed in the rental advertisement was included and more....it saved us quite a few trips to the store. Snorkels, boogie boards, rain ponchos, plenty of beach towels, beach bag.... the list goes on and on. Air conditioning provided some very nice relief from the heat on our first day there. Luckily, the rest of the week cooled off nicely and the open louvers throughout the condo provided a nice breeze throughout the day and into the evening.

Hens and their chicks are pecking around in the bushes and we had a daily visits from Ne Ne Hawaiian geese. The geese make the most subtle and gentle cooing sound....nothing like the geese we have at home.

The Pali Ke Kua pathway down to the beach is very close to the condo and we made many trips to this beautiful beach for surfing, snorkeling and tidepooling. The colorful fish, crabs, sea cucumbers and even an eel in the tide pool and shallow snorkeling waters was such a treat for our youngest son. It's hard to believe the stunning views from the cliffs is reality and not something only on a postcard. Picture perfect. We feel so spoiled to have stayed at this location. When we go back to Kauai, we will request this same location again.

I would like to add a note about above and beyond service from the property owner during our stay. Upon our arrival, the owner notified us that he was informed about a maintenance issue prior to our arrival ...leaky toilet and lack of power to the upstairs bathroom. We were told it would be fixed right away and that promise was fulfilled. We were kept in the loop the entire time and we greatly appreciated the updates and communication from the property owner to enhance our stay. We are grateful to see how expeditiously the repairs were made.

We will look forward to visiting again. Thank you

Great Condo

  • 4 of 5

We rented this condo for 6 days and had a great time there. If you are easily bothered by road noise, pack some earbuds. We did not find it bothersome - hardly any traffic at night anyway. Loved visiting on the lanai with all the birds, geckos and lizards. Condo is equipped with all the beach stuff you may need - even some snorkel gear. Thanks John!

Perfect spot for my family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I was visiting my son on Kauai with my young adult daughter and her friend. The condo worked out perfectly for us. It was nice having the separate loft area with 2nd bathroom, and having a washer/dryer in the master bathroom was great. This end unit had a surprisingly private feel. If you are looking for a "feels shiny new and like every other" experience, this may not be the place for you, but if you're looking for a unique comfortable private piece of paradise, this is it. The whole area around it is beautiful! I would definitely stay here again.

Ideal home for snowbirds

  • 4 of 5

13/16 Pali Ke Kua - an end unit - has the main living areas on the ground level, one can just walk out on the lanai and onto the meadow. Upstairs is the smaller suite with its shower/bath.

The kitchen is well equipped, but some of the fancy appliances have a leaning curve. But after getting used to the induction range, I appreciated its rapid heating and I'd consider installing one of those in our home on the mainland. The fridge has an automatic ice maker. Wi-fi is excellent, faster than what I have at home. (John Dawson must be a gamer :o) We did not bother using the other entertainment equipment, but it's there. Also a nice supply of mystery and detective novels and a book of the birds of Hawaii. You can buy your own copy at the giftshop of the Kilauea Light House sea bird sanctuary. If you are new to Kauai, also pick up an atlas map that show far greater detail than the rental car and tourist maps. (Topo, hydro, climate, streets and hiking trails. $8)

Our only negative comment might be the location close to the road that goes through the various condo complexes. The traffic sounds detract from the impression of a secluded tropical idyll.

There is an Italian "restaurant" in the complex; one can walk to it just across the lawn. I would consider it only for arrival (or departure) days when your pantry has not been stocked yet. Pizzas are okay, but the best food is their Longboard draft.

Speaking of pantry: we appreciated having non-perishable supplies of basics that previous visitors have left, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, soy sauce. There is a starter supply of coffee and plenty of flat bottom filters. Even some green tea bags. Nice touch.

Other visitors have commented about dead "lizards" which are actually geckos and are part of the charm of the tropical islands of the Pacific. The same goes for cockroaches. They are part of the ecosystem, so get used to having some fauna around the place in addition to the Northern Cardinals, Spotted Doves, Cattle Egrets and of course the Mynahs that come calling regularly. YOU ARE IN HAWAII, hang loose bruddah!
