Paid for but was not able top use the hot tub. Feel there should be some kind of discount when it did not mention on the app that it was not going to be open. Fireplace, we never did get it to start.
Otherwise we enjoyed the location and the grounds were well kept. Supplied plenty of room for our family.
Great vacation and location
The condo was excellent. We loved the location and amenities. A lot of reviews complained about the number of stairs but it’s a mountain condo, we didn’t find the stairs unusual for a ski resort area. Ski lockers by the front office made it easier I’m not having to lug skis up and down the stairs. Overall great experience and we would definitely stay there again.
Would have stayed elsewhere had I known.
This property is a four-story walk-up! 72 steps to be exact. Steamboat is at an altitude of 6900 feet above sea level, and this property is hike up from the base of the gondola. This is not mentioned in the description of the property and it its absence is VERY deceptive. This is not a slope side condo and although it is not listed as such, “Ski-in/Walk-off” is also deceptive. “Ski-in” is hard to find and difficult to do with a “ski at your own risk” sign posted before you enter this trail. “Walk-off” implies a short walk to the slopes. Not True. Your ski day will begin with a hike to the gondola base. These facts about this condo need to be made clear because unless you are altitude-adjusted and aerobically-fit, this is not going to be a good choice for you.
I have never left a bad rating for a rental in the past. Minor issues like the tv remote and fireplace not working are insignificant issues to me, but no one’s vacation should be so negatively impacted as ours was due to the failure to place an honest listing.
Ladies Ski Weekend
Great walk-out, ski-in property. Convenient ski storage/lockers close to where you exit/enter property. Boot/shoe storage in the lobby made it easy to change from one to the other effortlessly. Shuttle service was extremely convenient and prompt the evening we used it. The unit itself is a haul when you are arriving and leaving the property. Carrying your belongings up four flights of stairs is not for the faint of heart, especially if you are not used to being at altitude. That being said, once you are in the unit, it is very peaceful and feels private. It was nice to each have an actual bed and our own bathrooms wo having to pay handsomely for the privilege-we are 3 gals. The Kitchen had everything we needed, pots and pans could use replacing, but that seems to be the case in most rentals. Great puzzles (the had all the pieces!!), comfortable beds, the things that count were there. It is basic, not updated, but it was a fair price for being clean and it’s location. We would definitely stay here again- we are there to ski, not hang out at the property. The stairs were an extra leg burn at the end of a ski day;). We were curious how it would be in the summer, due to the fact that the windows in the loft are not easily accessible to help ventilate the heat up and out of the unit- a question to ask if this is an issue for your stay. Enjoy- we had a great time! Again, the location of the property makes access to and from Mountian easy.
Not that great
We stayed a week at this property and found out shortly after we arrived that the master bath had a serious drainage problem. We reported it right away but were unable to use the bath/shower for the entire week. Also there is no instructions for the fireplace, heating, lighting and we were going around trying to figure out how to turn things on. We reported that as well to no avail. The fireplace remained unworkable for the week which is disappointing when you are staying there in January.
About Cassie McCormick
We purchased this condo together in order to continue our friendship as one family moved away from the other. Currently one family lives in Muscatine, Iowa and the other family lives in New Bern, North Carolina. We enjoy visiting our condo during some of the ski season and some of the summer season.
Cassie McCormick purchased this Condo in 2006
Why Cassie McCormick chose Steamboat Ski Resort
We chose this property due to its unique characteristics. All of the condos at Kutuk have a different vibe based on who owns the place. We love our comfy dual family vacation home and hope you will love it as well!
What makes this Condo unique
Although we do admit there are many steps to our condo, that does mean we are on the top floor! We have an amazing mountain view from our porch.
