Homely and Relaxing

Kitted out with all the essentials and attention to detail second to none, Glenda is an excellent host and we love staying here with the our 4 children. It has everything we need and is in a great location. We enjoyed the bbq and deck and all of the excellent cooking equipment. Thanks Glenda!

Peaceful and relaxing beach holiday

Secluded location on a quiet street, close enough to the beach to walk (15 mins) but far enough that it's not crowded and noisy. Beautifully maintained property and excellent host. Glenda takes great care of this lovely house and its guests. This was our second stay.

Rustic charm is a winner

We really enjoyed our stay at Rustic Charm in Torquay/Jan Juc, a true beach shack that was neat as a pin on arrival. Availability of linen is a huge bonus and Glenda was a wonderful, attentive and understanding host, ensuring our stay was minimal fuss and easy to check-in and checkout. Highly recommended.

Great Family Stay

This lovely home had everything we needed. The large open plan area was well laid out. Clear instructions - easy to follow. Hot water, comfortable lounge/couch & beds. A very clean home. A home away from home

Everything was available to make this a very pleasant stay - kitchen fully equipped and all necessary cooling and heating provided. Relaxing Outdoor areas. Unfortunately there was an issue with insects in the kitchen and on the bedsheets.

Beach stay

We had an amazing time staying at this place! Glenda is such a great host, she left us some welcome chocolates, coffee and wine on the day we arrived..and very easy to communicate! And the house..it is a hidden gem! Spotless.. kids loved all the creativity in the house! 5 min drive from all the beaches.. Definitely we will go back!!

Well appointed house for comfortable stay

We enjoyed a week at this house. It was very clean, with a well-appointed kitchen. Great leafy block to enjoy sitting on the deck, peacefully watching the bird life. Communication with the host was easy, and very responsive.

Wonderful break in Jan Juc!

Cute and cosy timber cottage, perfect for families wanting a beach holiday in a bush like setting. House was extremely clean and well maintained. All furniture was very comfortable and towels/bed linen all new and fresh!! Perfect for a family stay and would definitely book again.

Little piece of paradise perfect for the family getaway

Superb leafy property. Everything you could want for a 9 day holiday. Room for all the family. Lovely outdoor area to relax and enjoy nature. Open plan indoor area with 3 spacious bedrooms. Everything you need was provided in the house. Easy walk to playgrounds for the younger kids. 5 minute drive to all the amenities of Torquay for the teens. Check in was a breeze. Glenda provided all the information needed and was in contact before and during the stay as needed. Could not ask for more. Could not recommend this property highly enough.

Wonderful property

Immaculately presented beach house. So many thoughtful touches by the owner that set it apart from other properties we have hired- late check out, wine and chocolates, pantry staples, linen and beach towels. Makes for a stress free holiday. The backyard is very serene and our girls loved the different birds and native plants. 3 min drive into Torquay. Would highly recommend. Would be a lovely winter escape also as the home is very cosy and has a fire and electric blankets.

Amazing place!

Glenda is a great host. Complimentary wine and chocolates on arrival, flexible check-in and check-out time and very easy communication with her through text messages. We had a great time at her place. The house is tidy, clean and equiped with everything you need and more. Comfy beds, pillows, doonas, and couch. It is the sum of so many details that makes this house unique. Great quiet location to explore Jan Juc and Torquey. Overall a wonderful place.

A charming property in immaculate condition, delighful finer touches to make the stay even better. A sweeping verandah and decking overlooking a beautiful native garden. Located in minutes walk from Jan Juc beach and cafe. Secure fencing around the property for kids and ample toys inside to the kids entertained. Couldnt fault it, awesome property.

Ironbark has been in the Hansen family since it was built in 1989 as a
traditional, Western Red Cedar, Jan Juc-style beach house. It was love at first sight! There are many happy memories of times spent with family and friends over the 30+ years of holidays at Ironbark.
The family loves coming to Jan Juc and over the years the large native garden has been developed, there have been improvements, modernisations and renovations done to add to the facilities and make the house as comfortable as possible. The bustle of the city is easily left behind in the low-key comfort and restful simplicity of Ironbark.
We hope our guests spend a comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable time at Ironbark during their stay and make many happy memories also.

If you want to be out of the city or the suburbs and the architecture and busyness that is typical of those environments then Ironbark will give you that warm, rustic, understated, relaxed beach-side haven feel while still providing the modern conveniences to make your beach holiday comfortable. It has attractive, light and spacious indoor and outdoor living spaces and is close to all facilities and beaches. It is at the commencement of the iconic Great Ocean Road and its forested hinterland. Bells Beach, the internationally-renowned Surf beach, is a short drive away as is spectacular Pt. Addis beach, voted by Good Weekender magazine as 1 of the top 5 beaches in Victoria. The Geelong Highway will take you to the regional city of Geelong with its beautiful waterfront. Another attractive drive is the trip to the Bellarine Peninsular with historic Queenscliff and from there you can take the car ferry across Port Phillip Bay to Sorrento and Portsea on the Mornington Peninsular.

As well as the beautiful beaches, you can enjoy the wide variety of restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating in the area. There are lots of interesting playgrounds for the children. Plus wineries, golf courses, markets, a chocolaterie, pubs, bars, clothes and food shops. Enjoy walking trails such as the Surf Coast Walk, Ironbark Basin Walk and Jan Juc Creek Walk from Jan Juc Village to Torquay Surf Beach, bike riding and small plane adventures. All the facilities for a fun holiday!
